pussies....use regular cheap ramp, its no harley weighing a ton...suprised you dont have a winch attached to it to help you take it down, im 135lbs and i take my kz650 by myself...just keep your hand on the break
dude forget screwing get some door hinges. With a few $5 homedepot parts u could easily make the collapsible and just as strong. Maybe put in a metal cross section that locks off a simple shed bolt if you don't trust the door hinge. Love random engineering stuff.
It's actually 3 2x12's with 2x4's running across th bottom. The 3 2x12's have those ramp lips you can get at auto parts stores to rest on the tailgate.
i looked this up cuz i am aiming to do the exact same thing, just a bit bigger bike - yamaha FZ1. what did you use under the plywood to strengthen it? it didn't flex at all!
@BrettHauls its a saw horse. we use em when hauling furniture at the moving company I work at. the board with a lip on it that they talk about in this vid. they also use one that hooks on the saw horse then the top board that is laying on the tailgate sits on top of the other one so you don't trip while walking backward...
I saw 2 guys lift a sports bike the other day. Dont know if they were stealing it.
I understand the concern of dropping your bike but could you post a video of you loading it. Some people have differant methods of loading. Like riding it up the ramp or using a stepping ladder. What gets me is the height of your truck and accidentally tipping the bike. I personally use a trailer.
that ramp is way to big i understand ur trying to make the angle less but there are other ways to do that. when u got to the beach do u bring this silly thing with u?
@r1killen do you ride a sport bike on the sand? it's a big ramp but if they just need it around home it's perfect. i'm building one just like it for the same purpose.. just to get my new bike back from the dealership
how did you get the balls to test it? lol i wouldn't have thought it felt secure enough if it was made of steel and welded together lol i would have made someone else do it first lol
the funny thing is...the guy in the back of the bike thinks he is actually doing something when in all actuality...he contributed none

im pretty sure those 3X12s would hold an R1. I use 3X12s and can load a 2000 Harley Dyna in the back of my truck no problem
