@dumbsong You are an idiot. We do it to our own soldiers BECAUSE it is torture so that they are prepared should they be subjected to the "brief discomfort" (as you put it) in the field. Waterboarding is absolutely torture.
If you've read any accounts of those who've been tortured, then you'll find it usually starts off with 'brief discomfort' (as you describe it)such as waterboarding. But then if the torturers can't get the information they want using this technique, they usually resort to more painful stuff. If you read this man's story, you'll find out that the soldiers who tortured him ended up burning his nipples off with a blow torch.
Maybe he just hasn't been tortured himself. It's always easy to ignore or downplay personal experiences until you yourself are the person going through those experiences.
Thanks. Although I must say that I'm not advocating that the judge necessarily *should* be waterboarded; I'm just saying that if he was, his attitudes toward that form of torture would be completely and irrevocably changed. And, chances are, he wouldn't be so indifferent about it. Of course, with some things, like torture, most people don't have to endure it to know if it's a good or bad thing. Apparently Mukasey isn't like most people.
