  • Thanks for the post.

  • John's bass is callin down da THUNDER!!!!!

  • bass bass bass. this is bass. not nicki minaj's earth eclipsing ass. mr. john taylor, please keep playing the bass!

  • @vaadaenmacchi The bass was such a prominent kick ass aspect of their music from the 80s. Love love John.

  • @RainPoetry

Bass is such a prominent element of most 80s pop music, which I might add was the last era where pop music was principally the work of musicians in collaboration, not producers tinkering on computers or table-tops.

  • @feckingtediousgoogl I agree....computer was the birth of communication but the death of talented musical pop groups

  • Beautiful song!

  • thanks for posting,am 42 this year and finally gonna see my gods although its taken 30 years,

  • Oh, gosh, I vividly remember having so many of these posters covering my teenage bedroom walls...good times! They are my favorite band...Duran Duran forever!!

  • My kids think I'm weird but they have no CLUE what they've been missing. Duran Duran has always been and will always be the best group on Planet Earth; so worth the 4 hour drive I will have to take to take in October to see them perform for the 3rd time since the late 80's..... I'd travel a million more! Duranie at 40 and PROUD OF IT!!

  • @lacykat05 im hitting 50 and cant stop...honestly no other band gives me as much pleasure

  • @lacykat05 Duranie at 42 and will be a blastin out "HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF" at the senior citizens home when I'm 82!!! Long Live the sights n sounds of the Eighties!!!

  • @americanmonarchist I'll be right there with ya!! Rig an Ipod and speakers to my electric wheelchair and let the music play!! I'll just make sure I have plenty of oxygen and pain meds on hand....for the consequences of my continual attempts to dance. How awesome!!

  • @americanmonarchist I'll be right there with ya!! Rig an Ipod and speakers to my electric wheelchair and let the music play!! I'll just make sure I have plenty of oxygen and pain meds on hand....for the consequences of my continual attempts to dance. How awesome!!

  • @lacykat05 the only thing I need pain meds for is to numb my ears n mind to the crapola of todays music the GOD-AWFUL rap hip-hop the slutty pop that makes Madonna n Samantha Fox look like Sunday School teachers haha and the pretty boy beiber backstreet boys "sound" along with the new rock that sounds like whirling weed-wackers with some phoney p.o.ed guy singing about how bad his life is! I usually crank up "NEW RELIGION" and "MY OWN WAY" to flush out my ears n mind! Thanks for responding!

  • @americanmonarchist AMEN!!!!!

  • In 1984 I was ten years old and totally in love with John ;-)

  • Yes, the best Band forever !!! DD My Great Love ;-)

  • AWESOME SONG AND AWESOME GROUP!

  • for my dear friend Olivia Barash.. I love you.

  • From the time I was 13 until I was 17 I was so crazy in love with all of them! I had posters covering every single spot on my bedroom walls too! I took alot grief for liking D2 so much too but I did not care what anyone thought! Those were the best years and I would not change them for anything!

After all this time I still love the band and will be going to see them in concert for the first time in my life in October!

  • @StilllovingDuran I was too young to go to their concerts. I managed to purchase some pics taken at various interviews and concerts over their most popular time period. Like you my room was covered or should I say plastered with DD. I collected every article in every cheesy teen mag I could get my paws on. I even cut out those tiny little ads for their posters and made a cover for a pocket calendar...on and on..Yep, I was a DD fanatic at the age of 8.

  • thank you!

  • This is my fav band along with my other two best friends :D. I think I had every single pic you have in this vid taped up on my bedroom walls! Thanks :)

  • Liked them since I first saw hungry like the wolf video when I was 13. Listening to their music always takes me to a better place. I'll always love Duran Duran.

  • My school pal Lorraine used to change the words to "Hold back Lorraine!" She was obsessed with Roger; never any of the others just him. Oh the memories! Best time of my teenage years.

  • I had so many of those old pics and posters plastered on my walls like wallpaper as an 11 year old! LOVE THEM STILL!!! <3

  • wow i had a lot of those pics n posters....good memories :) thanks!

  • Best EVA! Blue light disco to under age clubing! Good times!

  • Duran Duran forever! Yes absolutely!

  • <3 <3 <3

  • This track is actually the remixed version of HBTR. If you got your copy of Rio early enough you would have been blessed with the original studio version which was refreshingly raw and had a very live feel to it. Apparently Nick didn't like they way the original was mixed so the song was ruined I mean redone. The re-worked version added the frilly snyths, cranked up the bass mix and toned down Andy's scratchy chops. Ack what am I saying, they ruined it!

  • @dataspank You are spot on. I used to own the vinyl album. I eventually upgraded to the CD version, not realising it was the American CD cut. It featured this awful remix. The only time I think Duran Duran did a wise thing by remixing was with MY OWN WAY. The original sped up dance version came out as a single well before the album came out. By the time of the album they had remixed it to a slower, much better version. I am sure though there are fans out there who would disagree.

  • Im with ya my friend, I will always love DD Im currently into metal, pantera, metallica, all of the heavy hitting ones but Ill never forget them and would still go to a gig if they ever come round again soon!

  • John Taylor is one of the best bass guitar players to ever live. However, his looks and Duran Duran's videos have always overshadowed this.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG ! soz but i gotta say that this came out on Rio In 82 ! I remember Getting it on Cassette! for my 10th birthday in May when it was released Theres somrthing special that comes with listening to DD never fails to lift my spirts and remember the little me of yester year , been hooked since 81 1st TOTPs in their frilly shirts lol .

  • This is the first time I've heard this track in more than 25 years... fantastic!

  • im proud to be 17 years old and have as my favorite band of all time Duran Duran , i couldn't imagine My Life without Them ... i admit myself that iam a Duranie Teenager =) ... maybe other teenagers listen to Duran Duran and make Their lil poor lifes a lil bit happier =D

  • Happy New Year 2011! A Kiss!

  • I am married, have 2 boys, love beautiful women and love DD!! Besides, what a wasted emotion to attack people who are gay. So what? We live in world being destroyed by terrorists. Do you really need to spend time harrasing folks with a different sexual preferences? Wasted emotions. Long live DD!!!!

  • This is pure awesomeness! I've never seen those old band photos before. Thanks for sharing

  • Enjoyed this thanks. LOVE DURAN DURAN! I did in the 80's and I do now!

  • Can't mess with the Double Ds. One of the best bands ever, in my opinion. They weren't called the fab-five for no reason. They were the shit..and they still are. Let's just hope that they never do another 'red carpet massacre' CD again. I have every one of their CDs and that one bit it. If they can intertwine their next CD with the sound of say..Astronaut and Rio,i'd think it would sell millions. btw, check out one of my duran duran videos on my site "hallucinating elvis".

  • LOL I can't play my 7 album because I have no record player...This is so awesome...Many thanks to all who post these brilliant songs by a band that you just can't beat :)

  • @zvnteq7 LOL It kinda looks sort of...Potatoe-ish LOL But who cares...It's Roger ;D

  • Awesome song !!!! Thanks so much for posting! DD2 - Rock on!

  • THANKS TO DURAN DURAN .... 30 YEARS OF DURANMADNESS

  • truly their greatest song in my opinion

  • I'm totally drooling over the pictures!!!

  • priceless

  • I like dura duran for ever

  • thank you duran duran forever

  • They sure were fashion forward. Did not notice that when I was a young teen. (: but once ditched school in 84 cause they were on Good Morning America. I had to see Nick Rhodes...lol

  • they are all sooo gorgeous! im only 14 but i know so much about them, maybe even more than they know about themselves! ;)

  • by the way fantastic song, cheers

  • what ive gathered is this song was written for john who was on drugs, and simon slipped it under his door, the song, mega years ago,im a duran fan, dont get misled by my user name

  • I was a huge Durannie way back in the early 80s. Great memories

  • duran duran are gods

  • Thanks for posting this video. I am collecting videos of songs from my early Duran records. Nice pictures by the way.

  • I used to dance to this in my room with my record player,ha ha ha ha ha ha

  • Man I love Duran Duran!! I ama 20 year old girl and my dad always played Duran Duran and that's how i got to know their music and love it. My friends always thought I was a bit strange becasue they're one of my favourite bands but who cares!

  • Oh MY GOD! I remember this song now........Look at the band so young.....they were so HOT! Every girl had an "order", Mine was John, Simon and Nick. BEAUTIFUL...just BEAUTIFUL..

  • Simon wrote this song for John Taylor.

  • i lkie this song and all the others they have done

  • Duran Duran always the best ;)

  • Hai :) love the photo montage - hold back the rain is one of my all time favorite songs by duran duran (my all time favorite is save a prayer). i play guitar in a duran duran tribute band, we're called "Rio" - we're based in southern california. we have an online video reel on my page - check it out if u get a moment . johnny alonso :)

  • *Sighs* 2 have been a fan then....ilove these boys. Rio is my favorite!

  • RIO is by FAAAAAAR their best record. So many great songs on one album. Seven and the Ragged Tiger is great but not as good as this album.

  • John Taylor is one of the best bass players around...Totally loved Duran Duran...part of my childhood...Had a HUGE poster of the group with smaller pictures of just JOHN around it...HE was and still is my favorite! That look he has at 2:11 made my heart beat just a little faster! Thanks for posting!!!

  • One of their best. Cheers

  • I love this album. John Taylor is one hell of a bass player!

  • @Mightymopar1973 Yes he is!! ;-)

  • Rio-excellent album!!

  • Brings back great memories :p

  • @Hollymica The best memories, I'm sure!

  • Their second best song from the Rio album, the first being Save a Prayer, in my opinion anyway.

Did they ever make a video for this song?

  • Bellísimos Duran Duran. Thanks for your song. Great talent musical.

  • I <33 this song. Nice vid. :D

  • John's bass is so badass here.

  • i think this song is my favorite by DURAN DURAN.....!!!"""

  • This is my favorite song too! Love these guys have since I was 12, my best friend and I hardly miss a show. I never cared what anyone thought of me loving this band, I will forever!

  • Que buen tema, Duran Duran ,los amo

  • My friends used to make fun of me and call me gay because I was a DD FANATIC. They represent the best years of my life... will never forget the small-venue concerts and all the made-up "punks" at the shows. Wow! I always knew they would make it BIG!!

  • I agree with you...it was during the best years of my life. We were lucky, the 80's were the best!

  • @NewGoldDream09 i love DD myself and this is probably my fav song by them! actually my fav genre of music is new wav and the best new wav came from england it seems so i guess thats why most of my favorite bands are english lol. the 80s was the best!

  • @dirtyjew1974 I was never a big Simon fan... so pompous and shit. However, together, this group was the best in their time. Nick Rhodes really down to earth... got to meet him in England at a grocery store, with kid in tow, he was so modest and self-depricating. Wish there were copycats of this band around today.

  • @NewGoldDream09 I empathize. My friends think my taste in music is odd, but that's just because I'm twelve. By the way, does anyone know if DD are having a Belfast tour?

  • i love the drummer, he was so handsome, pretty eyes, sensual lips, and has the best body. But now he looks older than the others

  • as popular as they still are, they are underrated by people that write them off. the non-singles on this album are awesome, 7 and the ragged tiger is amazing, i mean they wrote such top notch pop for so long, they have more than enough material to sit back and tour on. think of the stones doing satisfaction right now, really? please....duran have a great timeless sound. vh1 has a great classic albums on rio, and it's cool to see them break the tracks down

  • If anyone has the photo at :18 to send to me, or let me know where I could find it I sure would appreciate it. Thanks!

  • Love it been a fan since I was 12 will always love these guys!

  • I. LOVE. THEM. JT4-ever

  • Remember my Duran Duran Cd's and tapes....

  • i used to jam off of duran durn back in 9th grade ..riding the bus to school..listening to RIO and 7 & the Ragged Tiger and bootleg durans....25 years ago , oye. wtf happened to the music today??? RIP

  • Seeing them tonight!!!

  • lucky fuck lol

  • ya just got back home, they were great. The guys looked tired they must be touring a lot.

  • man I wish the 80s were back and they were still young

  • I'm realizing watching these DD videos that John Taylor is without a doubt the reason for my love of tall thin men. Thanks John :)

  • lol. i tried my ass off to have his hairstyle back in 1984

  • Yes! Duran Duran forever!

  • Thanks 4 posting. These guys are awesome, can't wait to see them again soon!!

  • i miss them tooo

  • boy how i miss those days!!!

  • nice job!!

  • I LOVE the song, and the images you have collected are AWESOME!

    5 Stars and Playlisted ^_^

    MeOw!

  • this is my favorite Duran Duran song !

  • one of my favorites too..seeing them soon in July!! =-)

  • Simon is so hot.

  • Great job!

  • Fantastic tribute to a fantastic band! thank you!

  • Nice song. Viva Duran Duran y Birmingham por dar grandes músicos.

  • Ya know it sounds so similar, but I remember this song was a bit longer and back then, as it is now, there were different versions: ie "radio," "album," etc. etc.

In the end, the one thing I ABSOLOUTELY LOVE (and hear VERY clearly), is the bass, which makes me believe this is from an album... Thank you Bootsey Collins for being John Taylor's influence! Btw, if this is from a CD I'm very impressed, cant usually hear CRAP on those. Thanks again JTGrl!

  • This is NOT the original version. I have the original lp version from 1893/ There is a huge thunderclap at 1:20 instead of synthesizer chords beginning to playing in the background and at the 2:30 mark Simon's voice can be heard echoing ' hold me back' continuously.

  • I mean 1983.

  • Okay. Thx for the comment.... i guess..

  • @Theavantgarde i agree.... the album version was different than the CD version..I wonder why that was?..I much prefer the album verson where simon calls out the bandmates to hold back the rain. How can i get that version...thanks

  • @Theavantgarde I think the 1893 version was all accoustic right? You must be thinking of the 1983 version. Ha!!!!!

  • @Theavantgarde I think the 1893 version was all accoustic. You must be thinking of the 1983 version. Haaaaa!!!!

  • @Theavantgarde from 1893? damn...they're older than I thought? :-P

  • Thank you for posting! I am a 32 year old male who is a big fan of Duran Duran and I can care less if people think I am gay. They are so talented, it is hard not to like them. I am not insecure about liking them, it is not like they are the New Kids On The Block! Duran Duran is definitely NOT on the same level as boy bands, DD do their own thing and are ABOVE boy band status!

  • You're definately right! :)

  • @JohnTaylorsGrl for one thing, they are actually a BAND..as in they have instruments and PLAY them and they write their own songs and music 100% of the time.

  • @dmarquis8 I´m male fan too and some people have difficulties to understand that I love this band and I´m not gay. Maybe they have some issues with their sexuality. This is just good music. That´s why I like it.

  • @dmarquis8 im 25 and loved duran since i was about 8! jumping around to my uncles rio album lol

  • Oh, thx this is pretty awesome. Nice tribute =)

  • thx and your welcome :)

  • Holy cow! Is this the original song?!?!?!

I cant stand it when they "update" songs and sound nothing like I remembered...

    Love it!! Thank you JohnTaylorsGrl!

  • Nice compilation, I was a hardcore Duranie. For a guy, I was made fun of. Everybody taught i was gay for trying to look like them. Nick was one of my favorites as well as JT. I have only one picture of me looking looking like Nick. I had my hair like John Taylor for a while too. Still love them. I named my first born Nicholas. I was going to ad Nigel, but my wife was not thrilled about that name.

  • YES! Duran Duran FOREVER!!!!

I know I was only 13 when i saw their first concert, but I knew then what I know now, they are AWESOME!!!!

    Pls post more!!!!

  • i'm your duranie friend too! lol this brings back great memories in general but also of the time i had a punch up with a wham fan in the music block at school(yes i can remember that far back!) for calling nick gay! lol oh the irony of george michael all these years later lol!!

by the way a lot of the pics i used to have in a duran mag that came out once a month as i remember called lmt edition i could never wait til the end of the month and needed a nick fix!

  • lol, my mom thinks that nick is gay and she said that she was mad too when she found out George michael was! lol

  • hahaha I was a Nick Rhodes fan too and I remember getting upset and indignant when my parents made fun of his blush in a Tiger Beat mag I had in 4th grade LOL XD

  • Lemme guess..these pix are from thos hard-to-find Japanese fan magazines that held some of the best pix of this group ever taken!!!
