  • hey cheers for the video mate... is there a way to set a watermark like that to apply to multiple videos?

  • @mickholmesmusic You could save the graphic you use for your watermark as a template but you'd still have to apply it for each video you create.

  • Lol "Fantastic lil froggy"

  • Subbed, tyvm! :D

  • Very great guide, just what I looked for.

    Thank you very much :D

  • U sound like Forrest Dumb :D So funny- Great Tutorial

  • I have a clip in the track under the text.

    But it just stays black...?

What can i do to solve this problem?

  • Three thumbs up thanks mate. Easy to understand.

  • Im creating the text and it comes solid on the video, covering it all and never transparent, where should i click?

  • When you say it is covering it all I am guessing you mean that you can't see the video or pictures below the text track. That usually means that the background for the text isn't set to transparent. Open the generated media (text options) and change the background color to transparent by lowering the color bar to the bottom. That should resolve the background issue.

  • I feel great you cared about me, thank you.

  • Glad to help.

  • Favorited, might come in handy if I forget everything

  • Thanks, CROp1xel.

  • that doesnt work either i go into the generated properties and i see the background color is black but the meter says it is transparent

  • Maybe this well help. At 2:11 in the video it shows the properties window. On the right side you can see the color slider is at the bottom making the black actually transparent. Also, do you have a clip in the track below the text? If you don't the background will look black even if it is transparent.

  • When i go into the text options and pick the default the text is white with a black background and i cant see the video.

  • You need to goto edit generated media so that you can make changes to the text properties and change the background color from black to transparent. That should resolve the problem.

  • Thanks pookie.

you really helped me out with the problems i had.

  • Glad to have been of assistance!

Hope you're having a great summer!

  • Been using video edit magic to watermark my videos but it doesn't let you make the text transparent which i would like it to be. Will start using your method instead, thank you!

  • I'm glad you found this useful. I've not tried Video Edit Magic before. Is it pretty good software?

  • Wow I've been searching for this so long. I never understood the rest. This one really helped. Thank you very much Pookie! =)

  • Hey Pookieftw! Just a question...the starting of your video, did you do that all on Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8.0? (The program your using.) Could you please respond and hopefully make a video of it! It would be also cool if you could mention my name. I have the same program but for Windows XP. Also that is a good photo of the frog! And your tutorials are VERY helpful and easy to follow, especially the "Light Rays" Video. But please respond!

  • Hi there CatfishProductions9! To answer your first question, yes, it was all done in Vegas Video. I use version 7 though. I don't think I'm going to upgrade to 8 because it really didn't offer anything new and I hated that I couldn't change the layout to what I am used to. As to the second question (request) It would take more time than I currently have to make a tutorial about how the intro was made. That intro took about an hour of playing around to get it to look like I wanted. cont...

  • I will say that I just used multiple layers of text transitions to do this. I used the checkerboard generated media to create the black and white effect and did a zoom spin with it. I also split several of the text clips in half to give the illusion that they were moving infront and then behind the other text. I'm not sure I saved the original files for this. I'll check and maybe I can send you a more detailed how to.

  • Ok, I do have a question like do you know how to the light saber trick and would you like to be on my friend request? -CatfishProductions9

  • I checked out your videos a few hours ago. I really like your stick figure videos. Yeah, I add you as a friend. I know how to do the light saber effect but only because I have seen it done in tutorials for adobe. I've never seen it done in Vegas before but you can use masking to do something similar. The problem is that to make it look right you would have to remask every frame where in adobe you can do it much easier.

  • Omg thx dude, u just saved my problem. Thx!

  • No Problem. Glad I could be of some help!

  • Thank you very much, that really did help. You are very good at this!

  • I'm still learning too but glad I could share. Thank you for taking the time to comment and for the kind words! Make it a better one!

  • i have the same problem like Dawnish02.

all the transparent backgrounds for the text show up black and obscure the video.

any idea what is going on!?

  • When the text has a transparent background put it in the track above a picture or video... does the background stay black? If so it isn't transparent, if not then you're set!

  • So.. I realize you can do transparency with text... is there perhaps a way you make clips transparent on top of others?

  • Well, you can chroma key out colors in the video to make those sections transparent. Also, you can use masking under the pan/crop features to section off part of the scree. If you don't have masking you can use cookie cutter to cut sections of the screen out as well to leave just the section you want to show. Then just over lap the videos with the top track being the one with the transparency/chroma areas.

  • Hey Pookie, i got the newest sony vegas 8, and i have a hard time making the video in the background show, i cant seem to get the text ONTO the video. the text kinda bocks the video or goes infront of it. and only a black background shows with the text ive written

  • When you choose your text make sure it has a transparent backgroudn to begin with. You'll know it's transparent because it looks kind of gray with a checker board pattern. Or in the properties of the text you will see a background option. Move the color to the bottom and that should make the background transparent too.

  • oh no, sorry, i fixed the problem, the problem was i forgot to make another track to place it on. i just slabbed it all on there. and well. that wont work ey =D thanks for help anyway =)!

  • Cool but umm how do you do that like umm..

    What program is it (websitre)?

  • thanks i did it thanks 2 you

  • I'm glad I was able to help nene213.

  • how do u ad like a label in the side u know like in tv like fox or mtv can u show me plz

  • You basically do the same thing. What you would want to do is use a GIF with a transparent background. Overlay it like the text was in this video and depending on the look you want lower the opacity till it meets your needs.

  • HELL YEAH! I wanna know how to make the intro you did! PLEEEEEASE! I LOVE YOUR TUTORIALS!

  • I will try to have it ready by next weekend. Time is rather limited during the week and with the warm weather disappearing it seems the weekends have been a bit tied up. Thanks for the enthusiasm bradthecyberdemon!

  • Yeah no problem. I'm a sony vegas user myself and I have the utmost confidence in your ability to edit :)

  • Thanks. It's more like finding the time to put it together. It's fairly easy to whip something up, even though it may go through many changes, but it's a whole other story to describe how I did it. I'm sure you know what I mean.

  • Thanks Steve. That opacity bar works for sound too. When I first started using Vegas, I couldn't figure out how to adjust the sound levels independently for different clips(except fade in and out), and ended up having a lot of different tracks to do it! Then one day I stumbled on that bar that you could just drag down - dohhhh!

  • Again, nice tip, thx

You should make a liitle tut about the lightning you made in the intro, how did you do it?

  • I think it would be easier to show you then to tell you how it is done. It's not that difficult. You use the generated media to do it. I'll try to get a quick tutorial out, maybe today.

  • O, ok i get it, thx

  • Sorry I haven't gotten the tutorial out. Sounds like you figured it out though.

  • yea, thx, hope to see those upcoming tuts soon :)

  • Do you know what a good program would be to watermark .jpg (picture) files? I have been looking for one that would let me do many pictures at once.

  • Sorry wstoner, I don't. I'm sure there is one out there but I haven't had a need. You can use paintshop Scripts to apply an effect to multiple pictures, I suppose that would work.

  • It seems like a great editing software.

I've only used the good ole Windows Movie Maker so far...

    Thanks for the tip :)

  • Thanks for the comment.

  • I wish I has Vegas so I could try some of these tips. -- And because I would just like to have it. ;-) My editor isn't as fancy, but I have ways of making it do much of what I want to do.

    -- Matt

  • I hear ya friend.

  • Very cool! I stumbled across the opacity bar recently were I could split my vid up and make the different portions in various opacities; before that, I'm afread I relied on the video opacity bar! I never thought to do it with text - thanks a bunch for the tips!! Keep'em comin' we'll all be experts some day :)

  • Thanks MotherReiver. I hope everyone who watches these vids become experts, but if not, that everyone gets something out of them. I thought the unusually start was fun.

  • It was! I love how you put your graphics together! Maybe you can tip us off on your intro secrets???

  • The only problem with going through the how of the intro, is time. Sadly, to make that intro took me about an hour of goofing around till I found what I liked about half of that time was picking the music. I'd love to make long tutorials to show the more complicated stuff. If someone has a real interest in seeing a more complicated tutorial I'll make it. I just think 5 or 6 minutes at a time is about all anyone can stand of hearing me babble!

  • Love to hear you babble; but I, too, try to keep vids under 6 mins, so I fully understand :)

  • chusdy one day when i sober pook trust me ill give it a go ill just have to keep pauseing it. cool vid man ive tried some basic stuff like but its sort of hit and miss with me man thanx laters. tc bro

  • I certainly didn't pick Vegas up right away. In fact when I first got it I it took like a week per video, so I gave up. Then I got a new digital camera and had a reason to use Vegas more frequently. I'm still learning though.

  • Wow, the intro itself is incredible... (I would need several hours to do this with my Ulead Media Studio).

Now I'm so curious about Vegas that I have to ask you several questions... gonna send you a pm :-)))

  • Ask away. The good news is that you can download the trial version of Vegas for free and try it for 30 days. Thanks for the compliment as well. I try to show the potential for an effect but it doesn't always turn out so well.

  • I just bought Vegas platinum and really appreciate your tutorials... Ive learned a lot! 5 stars!

  • Thank you, seriouslysteve. I am happy to help.
