I thought one of the requirements of a Prime Minister was to be fluent in English, but apparently it wasn't a requirement in his case.

Why is it so wrong for the Conservative federal government to build up our miltary.You think we'd be better off with a weaker military or none at all.

@Etobeeshawn Even the US rents out AN-124 airlifters. There's nothing wrong with Canada doing the same or not buying American equipment. Regarding Afghanistan, they flew us out, and we provided LAV3's in places where they only had humvee's. It's called an alliance, you help each other out where the other is lacking. Unfortunately, militaries are usually first cut when needing to balance a budget. But Conservatives have burned out our troops as well. It's not like only Libs are to blame.

the U.S. DEBT has been around for many decades. the U.S. DEFICIT has only been around since sometime after 9/11. the DEFICIT was eliminated in the U.S. by Pres. Clinton (and thats only because the Republicans had control of both houses of Congress). In case you did not know, there is a difference between DEBT and DEFICIT. Read a book sometime, you might learn something

@Etobeeshawn The fiscal conservatives generally got America more into debt, and the "tax and spend" liberals generally got America less into debt. In 1950, US owed 2.2 trillion (WW2 and all), 1981 2.3 trillion, 1989 thanks to "Reagonomics" 5 trillion, 1992 6 trillion, 7 in 2001, the bank bailout cost 2.5 trillion in 2008 (more than WW2 did), housing bubble another 5 trillion, and the current total is 14 trillion, because of "fiscal conservatives." 21.5 including bailouts. So much for capitalism.

The only reason the federal government was able to balanace the budget was because they cut transfer payments to the provinces. They balanced the budget at the expense of the provinces, NOT because they were good financial managers
We have a deficit now because the Opposition made Harper spend our way out of a recession: the old tried and true left-way of thinking: spend more money, which never works.
Yes, Bush started the US deficit, but what has Obama done to correct that? Spend more money

Haper did want us to go into Iraq though and for that he cannot ever be completely be trusted. You want to talk about debt, how about another 37 billion for high tech planes, that we won't use. So my main argument here is, everytime a Liberal is in government, it always leads us to more financial ruins. Trudeau, Chretien, Mulroney (who was suppossed to be a Conservative), Dalton and David Miller all led the way to Canada paying a BIG Price to suit the minorities; to suit the special interest groups, etc., etc.

Bush left the US in a budget deficit.
