This video clip is symbolic of African musical genius from deep down the blood stream of Africa. I forgive myself for watching this video over and over again because I can see James Brown's sex machine and Jimmy Hendrix magic. These similarities tell me that music is in the blood stream of Africa.

The Poly-Rythmo orchestra had their financial problems in the past which impeded the visibility of their music but this video will live on forever thanks to AnalogAfrica, YouTube and Google.

This is brilliant! I never thought I would see this video. I used to listen to this when I was a little boy. The vocalist reminds of James Brown and the music itself is very close to Sex Machine! And also something - the vocalist has the same tribal marks as me!

So awesome. Very few in the west know how much Afropop and Afrocuban jazz and FUNK owe to Benin/Dahomey and especially this immortal cool cat. A while ago, NPR's All Music program had a special on Benin's Afropop and funk. Lucky me I get to travel there for work often :)
