These clips where people are reading text out loud as it comes up are probably intended to get kids to be interested in the process of reading. I remember acquiring my literacy skills from this show, and I used to like reading signs out loud when I'd see them. I'm sure that's very common for little kids to do when they are first learning to read, as I've seen kids do that over the years.
It's always nice when a children's show's cast of characters, even a classic one, genuinely loves each other, as the DVD set indicates in the cast remembering part.
Electric Company taught me so much. Of course reading - but also groovy, soulful body dips w/ a head snap like Morgan does @ 1:13. Trust me... you have to feel it. It can't be taught. LOL. I LOVE IT!!!
Next week on Easy Reader: "I wish I could tell you that Ernie fought the good fight, and Bert and the Sisters let him be. I wish I could tell you that - but Sesame Street is no fairy-tale world..."
really delightful - now we can see that the 60's hit its peak in the 70's - this is relaxed, liberated, beautiful afros, men not afraid to be enthusiastic, women shaking their hips - love it!
You know, they were way more liberal in children's television programing back then. You'd never get away with "Miss Jones has nice bones" now adays with how uptight people are about "sexual harassment" and other uber-"feminist" crap like that.
They didn't lip sync. You can tell because it would be slightly off. What they did is record it, then sing along with themselves so it sounded like more then two people (like possibly three) - this was something that has been used a lot. The Carpenders, the Beatles, Barry Manilow, many people have done this - because who blends better with you then you?
THEY WERE CORNY, BUT THEY HAD FUN RECORDING THEM ATLEAST

@PierceMedia That's probably why Morgan Freeman got the part in Street Smart as a pimp.
