Um did your parakeet have bumps all over its face? I am afraid that my parakeet has cancer because it has several bumps on its face. Also, the bottom half of its beak cracked and one of its talons fell off and a soft fleshy "nail" has taken its place.
How old was she? Cancer in a bird seems very odd! I want my Budgie to live very long...so far he is only a couple years old and very energetic. I am a bit paranoid about giving him store brought bird seed however...thinking of putting him on an all organic diet like myself...might add years to his life...that bird food is so processed and mass produced.....it can't be good for them!! Is there anywhere I can get some organic bird food that you know of??

This video made a grown man tear up! I love birds and Sweat Pea was a beautiful and kind hearted bird. I know there is a little Heaven for all creature the Lord has made, and Sweat Pea is definitely there.

I'm sorry for your lose. What's important is that you showed his nothing but love and care while he was alive. We are so sorry about Sweet Pea, he reminds us so much of Frosty. We lost Frosty on Sept 16th,
his tumor was gone but his kidney failed him. I remember your words in the Email, "treasure every moment". We did for every day of his life. Sweet Pea's talking and playing really reminds us of Frosty. I will forever treasure having such a close bond with our Budgie, the third member of our family. @robtic360 Good quality seed, and a few drops of bird vitamins in the water every other day, probably has something to do with it.
Did you keep him in any draughts?
If they get a chill, it can prove fatal.
Budgies are masters at hiding their illness, until they are really sick.

Aw hell, I have a tiny little black hen and am dreading the day she passes.
The mannerisms of birds makes them like tiny little people...so soul crushing to have one die on you.
But other animals out there need us.
Sometimes caring for another animal is the only thing that can patch up your heart.

I'm sorry for your lose. What's important is that you showed his nothing but love and care while he was alive. I think that as much as they are a blessing to us, we should be to them...that goes for any pet. My budgies are only a year and a half, and I hope to have many healthy, happy years with them.

Ali,
We are so sorry about Sweet Pea, he reminds us so much of Frosty. We lost Frosty on Sept 16th,
his tumor was gone but his kidney failed him. I remember your words in the Email, "treasure every moment". We did for every day of his life. Sweet Pea's talking and playing really reminds us of Frosty. I will forever treasure having such a close bond with our Budgie, the third member of our family. Take care Ali, we fell like we understand your loss.

I lost my Keewy also in july this year...I know exactly how you feel, I'm so sorry. When I watched this video of your Sweet Pea, I couldn't stop laughing, he's been sooo funny! You must be very proud of him, and I'm sure he's had lots of love and a wonderfull life with you!
