quick question. When the strum pattern is d/d/u/u/d/u is that counted like 1 2+(rest)+4+ I struggle with strumming and i really have to count my way through it.

@ripsnorter419 dude it depends on the chord , for example , when strumming with the chord D , strum only the 3 strings , i dunno , that's what i know , but its working for me :)

well their are a couple ways you can put your fingers on the chord like the D chord you can do the same way your fingers are and put them on the A chord have you tried that and the hardest chords to get down on this song is Bm and Cm those are a little hard it took time to get it down just keep practising it just takes time....and on the A7 chord you can use the way you have your fingers set up at D chord and use it on the A chord and just put your pinky down on the last string on the 3rd fret.
