This would be good for a computer if you live in an area like Florida or somewhere very stormy and you are running like a server or something very valuable.
Another thing is the surge protection. All APC UPS outlets are actully surge protected as well, not the "Surge only" outlets. As I explained, the Surge Only outlets are not fed by the UPS transformer, which can be overloaded by laser printers. And is also not very good idea to plug a Surge Protector in the UPS outlets. APC recommends not doing that for some important reason.
Laser printer pull a huge amount of current, that's why it has to be plugged to the "Surge only" outlet, which are not fed by a transformer, which can become overloaded by laser printers. The building wiring fault LED indicates that the ground wire is missing or there is a neutral/phase inversion in your wall outlet, it has nothing to do with batteries exploding. In neither case it is gonna make your UPS malfunction, it's related to the surge protection efficiency and shock hazard issues.
@pikachuthesquirtle It will run a desktop computer setup for a few hours max....The problem is ups's are setup to work best with the agm / sla batteries that comes with them. AGM batteries hold a higher voltage under load, so you would need an expensive ($200 +) optima agm car battery or equivalent . EX: Fully charged car battery = 12.7 volts, AGM = 13.2 - 13.4 volts. Under load the car battery will drop to around 12.4 volts quickly and hold, but the ups thinks the battery is too low to stay on.
Continued........ Under load an agm battery will stay in the high 12's and the ups will run longer. You could probably get a car battery to work longer if you could reconfigure the ups's internal firmware to recognize the charging states of a normal flooded lead acid car battery. The best choice would be to pick up a big electric wheelchair battery, which is agm and almost as strong as an agm car battery. Those go between $50 - $150. I am converting my current car battery ups to a 35 ah agm.
your Hz ise the frequency of your AC-power input. It describes a sinusoidal function wich fluctuates with a steady frequency (50~60Hz for USA-Europe).
