  • best. choreography. ever.

  • I need to buy this. It's hypnotizing.

  • how did they come up with this dance? too good

  • gosh the simplicity of this band is genious

  • @JurricaChiannaNycole well maybe this song sounds simple, but judging from their insta-covers (playing CHORDS by "memory ear") i'd say they're pretty damn advanced. and this is an awesome song.

  • hey dude they dont start on one until they wanna fuck wih it

  • In Edinburgh, Scotland, UK .....YLT means Young Leith Team. just thought I'd share.

  • Yo La Tengo=LOVE

  • they're so cute haha

  • i have never found a Yo La Tengo song i didn't like.

  • Rubbish

  • Ira does Jonathan Richman eyes at 1:32 !

  • linda!!!

  • Just remembered this video. Surely the best live video on youtube. This has made working all the more tolerable.

  • @GreenEyedLocoMan1

You're right. I'm at work, and re-watching it for the 4th time.

  • They made a dance for this?? Well, now I won't be able to picture anything else whenever I listen to this song.

  • I get goosebumps watching this.

  • ...its so fucking beatiful!!!!

  • they are absolutley hialrious!!!!!! :D

  • terrible mixing, the audience and vocals are way too fkn loud. ah well, still a great performance.

  • @lukeloseth I imagine this is a soundboard recording so its probably mixed for the live show.

  • my favorite band.... ever...

  • I saw them at the Xpondential Festival in Camden, NJ, and they haven't aged a bit.

  • Will never forget watching them do this in Toronto and still love seeing it again here!

  • All that whooping shite, you can tell it in America!!

  • Why can't I be in this band? Life is so unfair!!!!

  • I have loved them for many years...this brings back memories!

  • They are so simple and so nice!

  • magnifico

  • Comment removed

  • I am their fan, but until today I have known they are so funny.

  • how sweet !

  • lalalalala they suck :D!

  • its supposed to be kind of silly. =)

  • Amazing!!!!!!

  • they're being goofy + ironic, dummies. it's funny.

  • Ahh this gives me gooseflesh.

  • @zachychan3 What seems to be your problem with this video? Your anger is really startling.

Do you usually get this ridiculously full of rage when you don't understand how one group of people can like something other than what you like?

Please elaborate, or I'm forced to think @zachychan3 is just another of YouTube's highly bigoted trolls. I don't want to...

  • sry i sign in with my youtbe acc at a netcafe and it must of saved my details then sum body used that computer and went youtube. i got a few other replies from very negotive comments left by this interlectualy dishonest being, i am very sorry sorry for any offence caused, we all have a right to like or dislike what we like.

  • @zachychan3

Right... you're aware there's an option to remove your comment?

  • best video on youtube.

  • Haha...possibly!

  • @takeittothemall

I was just about to write the same thing.

  • their dancing are soooo cute~~

I like the feel that they play on the stage and make the atmosphere so relaxing

  • I Watched This Dance at Shibuya O-East!!Very Cute!!That was "X'mas Present" from them.

  • I love Yo La Tengo. They are good guy.and good composer.

  • This is the most wonderful in all crips

  • i know i've already commented on this video and i've watching it about 10000 times, but did anyone notice when james is introducing the song, he messes up on the words and ira laughs at him...i think that;s my favorite part of the video at the moment. it changes all the time...sometimes it's their faces when they're dancing, sometimes it's when the audience copy their dance moves. thank you internets for being lame 99% of the time and then coming up with something like this.

  • come to kathmandu, nepal. we can have it all in the himalayas.

  • this is why they're the best band in the whole world.

    Saludos,

  • Thank you Yo La Tengo, you make our hearts beat as one :_)

  • One of my favorite bands ever. Ira, Georgia and James still have it all!

  • i love it! they are so totally professional and non-professional at the same time! funny and good at the same time.

  • I saw them perfrom this live severals years ago. They did the same dance...so awesome

  • Rock stars don't have to be beautiful.

  • My heroes......

  • Wish I'd been there!

  • cool !

    good !

  • the only thing i must tell those who are reading this is, I WAS THERE.

  • this video is wonderful. it makes me and everyone ive shown it to weep like a baby. i feel like a huge douchebag admitting to that, but it's really that good.

    ylt <3

  • Beautiful. Hermosos :).

  • I always wondered how they'd pull this one off live. Spiffy dance steps by James and Ira...and I'm totally in love with Georgia's voice...

  • This is awesome, I saw them in San Francisco right around this time, greatest show I've ever seen. But I don't remember them doing this version of this song, I think I'd remember the choreography.:D

  • The positive message of this song is: freaks can dance although they give up medication... A little hope for borderlines all over the world!

  • Note - My previous comment was supposed to be a reply to 2bin regarding the Champaign-Urbana 2000 show, but for some reason got posted to the general comments.

To Rickenbacker345, thanks for posting this!

  • haha oh man i love these guys. they are so awesome. its like watching a bunch of ordinary people get up on stage and haveing fun. they dont seem like rock stars they are just like you and me

    i love it

  • Glorious!

  • I love how normal they are! Makes them 10x cooler than any other band.

  • On a cold grey day in the North East - this track warms the heart....

  • I love how the public starts following the coreography :)

  • We are "Yo la tengo", I almost didnt catch that. And my mother tongue is spanish.

  • I addicted to their new work in 'Dark Was The Night'. I wish to drowned in the endless tender waves that they've created forever.

  • I remember them performing this back in Champaign-Urbana Y2K. Great, fun show...fun for the whole family! lol

  • I was at that Blind Pig show, too! One of my top five favorite live music nights of all time! We sat up center balcony. Wow, such a good memory....

  • Exactly! I was on the floor. I remember seeing the band members selling their own t-shirts and being social at the stand, and thinking, "these are the kinds of friends your parents would approve of," lol.

  • "being social at the stand, and thinking, these are the kinds of friends your parents would approve of."

Totally! We even stayed after the show and talked to them for like a half hour. Nice folks!

  • The best Stylistics routine sans the polyester suit,

  • AWESOME! LOVE THEM!

  • so awesome and awkward. they're like the dorkiest people ever making the coolest music ever

  • timeless. it just makes so happy

  • qué grande...

  • devuelve la canción Boloco!!!!

  • That makes you a pre-schooler.

  • jaja

  • Definetely

  • Yea I just saw them at the McCallen Pool last Sunday and I also visited Japan for the Fuji Rock Fest this year and let me just say it blows away any festival I have ever been too. The stunning backdrop of the forest in the mountains and the 20 minute walks through disco ball infested trees to each of the 6 stages there was insane. Nothing even comes close to how incredible you feel being there. None of those retarted US rules we apply to our festivals as well and they do perfectly fine.

  • absolutely brilliant, hear about this band ages ago, just got a few albums recently.

    great stuff

  • If you live here in NYC go today to McCarren Pool, the concert is FREE!!

  • nerdy

  • que cosa más linda

  • The first time I heard it, it's instantly catchy and memorable. Touch of genius. Also you can put those teen or tween groups to shame. That includes you Miley Cyrus, High School Musical and all you Disney silly people.

  • Yo La Tengo, simplemente gracias!

  • Okay I love this... it made me laugh, and the song is addictive, you guys rock!

  • Can't stop watching this, love these guys. Such dorks, but I think that's what makes them great. Yo La Tengo = Love + Genius

  • Great!!!

  • love this song:D

  • awesome.... love all their albums... never seen them live, thanks for posting this.

  • i think im in love

  • I saw them at Glastonbury around this time with my 2 year old daughter, it was a beautiful sunny afternoon. This performance brings me to tears. Recently a guy suffering from roadrage in a 4x4 threatened to kill my children who were with me at the time. I know which world I belong to. Thanks for uploading this.

  • Maybe you should go to a show and show off how cool you are compared to all the nerds in the audience, you'll be the coolest dude amongst a sea of nerds and everyone will be in awe of you.

  • the level of douchedom in your post is stifling. I saw another one of your posts on youtube, so spare me the cliche douche rebuttal.

  • so happy

  • They dance better than you, dorko!

  • This is the pinnacle of good music that MTV and the suits miss. It`s not the sexuality or fashion of the bands that matter - unless you`re a mindless twit marketing to people who you have no respect for - but the quality of the music and innovation regardless of the image. Yo La Tengo rocks.

  • Wow!!! This is indeed a start of something wonderful. Drinks all around. A true sound from the garden state 8?)

  • who could've thought such a silly song could be so cool. and the choreography is both endearing and amazingly fitting.

  • it's from "and then nothing turned itself inside out..."

  • what cd is this from?

  • A M A I Z I N G .

    A A aa mai zi ngg ....

  • No, not being sarcastic; have u seen them "Rock out?"

  • fucking A

  • brilliant and beautiful and life affirming in a punk kind of way, the best

  • the BEST

  • Yo La Tengo rocks!

  • Bum bum ba bum ba la da...

  • haha, that song is damn catchy. also doubles over as one of those tunes you can think about to prevent coitus from ending too early

  • i love this video!!!

  • Yo La Tengo es lo más bacán!!!

  • very cool i got to know about these from daniel johnston

  • Yo la tango is the coolest

  • How charming and so bloody talented musicians. The kind of band that requires 20 years to reach their top...can you imagine what they will be in 20 years ???
