Listen up Man about Town/Somesudburyguy/Phillip Morris. Someday, someone will find out who you really are. Then we'll see if you can put your money where your mouth is.
You 'members' are dellusional. You have already lost. You have been overpaid and over compensated for so many years and it is over now. Your brilliant union leaders led you down the garden path on this one... Leo Gerard... oh my god, what a typical dumb frenchman.
He fucked you guys over this time.
Go back to work and be happy you are making what you are making....
Go hug a moving bus Somesudburyguy ! Your comments here are not welcome any more than your lack of insight in regards to what's at stake here .. win or lose we're going to continue our fight against Vale .
Very easy for some 'Vale blogger' like yourself to say we've been overpaid. People on welfare are doing better than some "Inco' employees so shut your fucking mouth !!!
Win or lose ? you have already lost. Even the city and general population think you unionized people are nuts.... striking for more money in the middle of a recession, nice plan. Again, if you are all so valuable! peddle your grunt skills to another company or go to your fallback plan for supporting your family. You do have a fallback plan dont you ? I dont work for Vale or any other mining company... I enjoy yearly raises and dont need a union to get them.
Guess what I did when I did not like my salary or working conditions in my first career choice? I adapted and overcame. I went back to school, paid my own way.... and choose a field where I was in demand and could pick and choose my salary and the company I worked for. I did it. I did not blame the company like a little pussy. I grew some balls, took charge and solved the problem. You all choose to be lazy and blame the company. Grow up and get some balls.
Well good for you .. most admirable .. now in our case being unionized workers ... we have to fight for our rights .. and that my friend takes balls .. Vale is not the same company Inco was ... we had no choice but to refuse their pathetic offer ... their is no more job security in our country because of corporate greed and the continual selling off of our natural resources, this too will affect you down the road.Oops.. I forgot .. your a Vale paid blogger ... they'll take good care of ya .. lol
Of course you had a choice..... you could have chosen to think on your own, put your family's welfare ahead of the unions priorities and voted to accept their contract.
There is no job security for anyone in this country so why do you feel you should be treated any different ? are your skills so essential and specialized that you should be put on a pedestal ? I dont think so..... you are your union buddies are GREEDY. Plain and simple. I never have and never will reveive a penny from Vale.
somesudburyguy, first idon't think you are a sudbury guy... barganing and security, look at xtrada and local 598...raise in pay, pension increases, no part timerers taking the place of laid off workers, nickle bonus etc. xtrada seems to know the value of their employees not like vale...one day longer
Your motto of 'One day longer' sounds more insane every day. One day longer for what ? to make yourself look crazier than you already look..
You are very very easily replacable. I am definitely a Sudbury guy. Born and raised here. You and everyone else posting here, refuse to respond to my challenge... which is: If you are so valuable and unique, why dont you go to another mining company and demand the salary and benifits you get now ?
Fantastic rerporting. I can't imagine MSM media in the grasp of banking and corporate interests would have even covered this news. And if it did they wouldn't have reported more than a few soundbites here and there.
spiritsA... i'm wonderin if you are a union member?
sure their are some bad apples in every local, who will try and take advantage of the way their union will stick up for them.
However that UNION did not get to be here because of slackers and complainers. It happened because "the little guy" stood up and was sick and tired of being bullied by corporations and companies who took them for granted.
Go USW ! These people are sacrificing their monthly wages for ALL of us. Enough is enough! It's time to shut the system DOWN - everywhere! Before the system shuts us up!
Hello, I'm Paul Jay, behind me is...my mother...yes, i live at home, because funding for Real News barely covers the gas to go to work...and i love my mom...hahahaha....just kidding Paul, its great to have independent news, keep up the good work...maybe lose the public flasher trenchcoat though...lol

Hey, Mr. NWO conspiracy type. Put down the ron paul. Here in Canada we tolerate lots of shit from our government, but we live in a democracy. A good democracy. You yanks might have it bad, and I feel for you... but we're sovereign and free. Don't drag Canada into your weird conspiracy shit.
The wealthy rule. Not the people. We are like mice to the pied pipers of the de3mocrats and the republicans. The two prties are lapdogs. That is not mob rule. It is a illusion. There are only a few democrats and one republican that stands up for the people. the rest are corporate lapdogs.
I don't think Canada is free of corporatism. You have a prime minister that is as bad as Bush. Although he has a minority party. So maybe you do have more freedom. But I think corporatism does want to own Canada as much as it owns America.
Even as world events unfold, global this and global that, like the new article from the Huffingtonpost: "The IMF Catapults From Shunned Agency to Global Central Bank"... You will receive thumbs down and be ostracized. Obviously, many on both sides of the border still cannot deal with reality. Even as we are more Global than last year, they still pull out the whole, "Oh, Mr. NWO conspiracy man". What a load of crap, eh!
watch your fucking mouth dick head. you've got no clue what you're talking about. it's american companies that come to our country and fuck out shit up with your novel american greed. tell your congress to keep your trash in your own damn country. we don't want any of you clowns in ours.
I did not talk about the video in my comments, I just wanted to point out the false illusion of some people who think are free and their blaming of others for problems caused by the same system they participate in.
I am personally pro worker-managed industries, of course, the management being as local as possible, unions are Statist pimps.
- Workers see companies they participate in are hugely profiting.
- They are easily replaceable
- They don't get a raise because it's economically irrational to.
- They want security due to the lack of values they really have so they want to unionize.
But the fact that multinational corps sends money to other countries hit a target there. Companies like these are leeching from the Country. This argument, however, is a rationalization from their main goal.
"They don't get a raise because it's economically irrational to." = because the bosses would rather spend it on more important things such as their own income from other peoples' work?
Explain "economically irrational". I agree, from the perspective of the large shareholders it may be economically irrational in the short term to not provide a decent living standard to employees. But from the perspective of the global economy (now in the shitter from the massive transfer of wealth to the top created by neoliberalism) or the local economy which depends on the purchasing power of its workers, its extremely irrational. What is an economy for in your opinion?
I don't see our clash. The economy is incentive based, not patriotism based. Businesses don't think about how to help their own country.
Doesn't necessarily mean replaceable workers should get anymore than they should.
Before we get into a debate, we have to look at how much wages they currently earn and what they do each day instead of merely arguing on a conceptual basis. Each case is different, but Union in itself is concentrated with slackers/complainers in my area (Vancouver).
usw sucks....
you people are being used!

American companies go to your country but who allows them in?
Your politicians.
I advice that you stop taking sides with countries, they are nothing but drawn borders on a map.
The market has no boundaries, the freer the better, and by "freer" I meant, NO State intervention.
