  • @Weeliano Thank you , that was it , I had cut the cube in the wrong plane, therefore the modifier was rezzing , but inside the shape that was left. Great work with the tutorials, I have subscribed and look forward to using them

  • I have just recently downloaded Blender and although I find your Tutorial fascinating, and even though I have followed it word for word, when I click to add Mirror modifier......... nothing happens. have you any idea why please?

  • @ismee001 The orientation of your cube could be in correct. Check the mirror modifier and try checking and unchecking the x and z axis until you see the mirror.

  • Awesome tutorial! I didn't do the scripting part of it but overall I think my boat looks pretty nice! Thank you! One thing I do wish you would have done was explain a bit more on what you were doing. I had never heard of the Loop Cut tool and I didn't (and don't) know what it was. Same thing with the modifiers section itself.

  • @xXShaddowTXx Thanks for watching! You might want to watch my other tutorials on my channel. Perhaps the one on Modeling Walls, it will show you more on the Loop cut tool. The 2.59 version of the boat tutorial is a bit more advanced. Try watching the rest of my videos to get a good overview on what Blender can do, especially the newer 2.5 versions.

  • @weeliano Alright I'll check out the other videos thank you. Sadly I am forced to use 2.49b because it is the only version supported by scripts and programs to allow for modeling, animating, etc. a curtain game I play. Anyways I'll check out the other videos and will comment on them too! :P

  • Great tutorial, but I was at first confused, as I am now using Blender 2.59. Would you have explained this tutorial differently on using Blender 2.59?

  • @englishmovielover Sounds like this is going to be my next video tutorial for 2.59, watch out for it this weekend. Its going to be slightly different as the solidify tools are different compared to 2.49

  • @weeliano Looking forward to this next tutorial. Have learnt a lot from you and two others providing goodtutorials in blender, plus the tutorials from from Blender.org. However it is still like a jig-saw puzzle to me.

I would love to eventuallymake a sort of multi-media e-book, teahing English, showing a carvel or caravelle sailing ship. Showing its curved shape, sails of cloth, and its wood texture I have tried, with little success.

  • where do i have to click to CTRL+Numpad? what number?? i dont get it?

  • @TheSirMikkel CTRL & Numpad + means to press your CTRL Key together with the Plus (+) key of the Number Pad.

  • What KEY is numpad?!

  • @TheSirMikkel The Numpad is the collection of Number Keys, Cursor Arrows and other functions on a full sized 104 - keys keyboard. Usually located on the right side of your Keyboard.

  • @weeliano Thanks :D

  • lol I have both versions of Blender- 2.5 and 2.49, so I can model in 2.5 ( because im used to it) and add armatures in 2.49 to use with Unity3D. Anyways, thanks, this was a great tutorial, I pimped my boat.

  • FUCKING BLENDER COCKS !!! i hate the dudes who made it i have a newer Version then ANY VIDEO ON YOUTUBE and i cant do ANYTHING it is alll DIFFERENT !!! this is retarded but good video m8 amzing how u make a boat i dont even know how to scale in this program cus it is SO DIFFERENT FROM ANY TUTORIAL ON YOUTUBE

  • @1Fable2Boy u press s. its not hard!!

  • i dont know what the f*** is numapad ir whatever

  • @zeusfury123 Its the group of number keys on your keyboard on the right.

  • @weeliano i know where it is but he says Ctrl+num so idk what is that

  • @zeusfury123 That's the Ctrl + (Numpad + ) key. Ctrl + (Numpad +) will increase your selection, Ctril + (Numpad -) will reduce your selection. This works edit mode. Makes sub objects easier to select.

  • @weeliano thanks!

  • do you have a bird in your house?

  • @zeusfury123 Too many! heh heh, noisy as hell in the day.

  • I am just learning Blender. Your tutorial was really awesome. I liked it very much. Thanks a lot.

  • Great tutorial! Thank you!

  • @onetamer Thanks for watching! Do subscribe!

  • @Weeliano Thank you for answering my question im gonna subscribe :)

  • Is blender a 3D animator?

Or its just a modeling program?

    PLZ replyz!

  • @JeromeIsTheMan Its Everything! Just google Blender and you'll find out.

  • nice tut, thanks!

  • Excellent tutorial, thanks!

I'm curious about what software you used to record the video, and especially interested in the visual key/mouse display in the upper right. I'd like to record things I do for a personal "future reference" library (i.e. "Wow, that was cool! Now, how the heck did I do that when I did it" library), and can't find anything that displays the key presses and mouse clicks. Thanks!!!

  • @KrashTestDumby I actually used 2 programs, Hypercam 2 for the video and voice capture with the Screen Note setting enabled with this script "Keystroke:%key%". And because the Screen note function doesn't show the mouse button functions, I used another free software called OSDHotkey. Hypercam has free version you can freely download. Just google for these 2 software, OSDhotkey and Hypercam.

  • @weeliano Sweet! Yeah, had I been not watching your great tutorial so intently, I might have noticed the OSD Hotkey in the title bar, huh? :-) Hey, thank you for the info!

  • A little bit fast but a very good tutorial 4/5

  • what you did at 5:08? i'm using the 2.56 blender and i cant find this option,

    plz help!

  • @tenegon I pressed CTRL + 1, on the number row keyboard. That activates the Subdivision modifier. Pressing CTRL + 1 to CTRL +3 will toggle between the 3 levels of sub-division, it should work in 2.56.

  • thank you very much

  • Thank you so much! This is the first 3d model I ever made!

  • @Leg4tus I'm glad it has helped you! Keep on Blendering!

  • good tutorial thank you

  • Thx for the tutorial really helped me the first 2 weeks :D

I find it alot better to use creases instead of adding extra subdivisions to sharpen an edge. It's not wrong to add them but the model gets cluttered with more faces then needed and get's fairly more complex to make changes to.

  • @idonoD You're welcome! I tend to think that there's no right or wrong way to do 3D modeling, whichever methods suits you or is more efficient for you, then go for it. You are right in pointing out that creasing can be used instead of edge looping, but I guess its just habit for me to just throw in the loops, heh heh.

  • control numpad? I just downloaded blender today and I got a science project due in a month or two and i wanted to do a tsunami so I wanted a boat and island that get hit by it and I dont have the little numpad but I got the ones on the top of the keyboard

  • @mingleofdeath I'm referring to the numpad key section of a full sized keyboard. You can use blender on a Laptop without the Numpad, but you have to enable Emulate Numpad mode for the top row of numbers for the changing of the viewport. If not, the current number row on top of your keyboard will function as layer selection.

  • i'm modelling a motor boat and i just needed an idea about how to model the body of the boat. your tutorial helped a lot. thanks!

  • @018thelastfighter I'm very happy my tutorial has helped you! Happy Blendering!

  • oops its in modifiers list :D :D sry

  • one question tho... i cant find the scripts window in 2.5 :S know anything about it?

  • @123ertyy Ah for 2.5, you don't need the scripts, you just need to apply the "solidify" modifier. Search for it on Google or Youtube, there's plenty of examples.

  • @123ertyy

in the modifier panel, there is a solidify modifier ;)

  • Nice :)

  • thank you, very useful !

  • @pip07200 You're most welcome! Do remember to subscribe! Cheers!

  • Nice work.

    Thanks.

  • @Edo947 You're welcome!
