  • Well done!

  • Marvelous.

  • I have most of the Guide entries from the TV series on my computer, and put them on any media player I have, as a homage to the concept. Now, I'll just have to add this entry to my files.

  • I need a "This never happens" button, or should I go as far as a t-shirt :) Very, very well done.

  • i loved it

  • I own a mark 2 travel machine!

  • Bravo! Very well done!

  • Simply wonderful !

  • LOLOLOL Davros the footballer XD

  • OMG! That was fantastic!

  • Mark Three war bastard, that's a Dalek alright

  • Eminently pausable, for all the BBC TV, HHGG, and DW references. Great.

  • Given the strong links Douglas Adams had as writer on Dr Who as well as HHGG I'm sure this would have made him smile!

  • Unlike the film version, I'm sure this homage won't make Douglas roll in his greave. Well done human !

  • If you've already done 6 impossible things this morning, why not finish it off with a visit to milliways?

  • See The Dislike Bar? That's Justin Beiber's Dick Size,

  • 19 people do not know where both their towel and their sonic screwdriver are at.

  • but then the daleks decided to hover

  • Well done. Faithful to the old fonts and animation style. ☺ Just needs audio balancing in a few places. The voiceover is very hard to make out without the volume turned all the way up, which in turn makes the music and sound effects way too loud.

  • It's written like it came straight from the mouth of the old horse himself. So well made I can't tell the difference at all.

  • aaah, I love the old guide. it looks so much like my calculator x)

    and this was awesome.

I need to find that old video tape now...

  • Amazing

  • This is so awesome, it's infinitely improbable to find something equally awesome.

  • Nicely done.

  • Brilliant !

  • I liked the no stairs sign, definitely the kind of h2g2 touch it needed

  • make one of.. xenomorphs, ya

  • A work of genius ^^

  • Win.

  • Brilliant!

  • how did he put the design in if he died?

  • @railwaymguy the Daleks keep bringing him back to life in futile attempts to make him kill The Doctor.

  • Sheer brilliance, and I hope you will consider giving the same treatment to every other aspect of Who mythology. :) Now I come to think about it, I don't remember there being any stairs in either the first Dalek story or Genesis of the Daleks, so perhaps the "grey, stairless wasteland" may indeed be the explanation for that infamous design oversight. Just because most humanoid alien races speak perfect BBC English doesn't mean they have to have invented the same method for moving up and down ...

  • amusing. but the first doctor sotry The chase implies (allthough not visuly) that Daleks are able to get up staris. and later daleks are seen to hover.

  • in case you don't know; Shada was actually manufactured by the magratheans ^^

  • this is cool. did you make the stuff up about where the planet is, etc, or did you do the research?

  • brilliant my two favourite shows ever.... do one for the goodies next

  • this is the apotheosis of my genius, Doctor....the obliteration of life itself!!!! Davros is awesome! Who knew he was a footballer in his youth? LoL

  • An utterly fantastic, bang-on pastiche. Well done!

  • I....I .....I Love this ViDEO!!!!

  • Holy crap this was incredibly well done. You've done an amazing job capturing both the old guide style (from the tv show) and the new style (movie).

    Bravo!

  • @tonyhouse2 old old style. radio.

  • This is truely amazing work well done :)

  • My friend, this is BRILLIANT!

  • 17 people are Davros.

  • @Cranberryvid hahahahaha

  • This is brilliant. Very good Peter Jones-y voice by the way

  • you should do more of these doctor who hitchhiker's guide videos

  • Amazing!

  • I love this! great voice work, very close to the other narrators of the guide.

also credit to the original version. Pretty funny

  • Where did you get the background music?

  • Strewth! Brilliant.

  • Love it :)

  • I love it, well done.

  • Great voice.

  • Where did you get the background music for the guide entry? Can I have it?

  • brilliant stuff, alot of hard work im sure, but a brilliant result.. thanks

  • i thought this would be an awful fan video but it was immense absolutly excellent work

  • Clever, clever piece of writing. It's three of my favorite things put together doctor who, the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy and pure randomness

  • You certainly know where your towel is!

    Good Work

  • oh I love this. Well done!

  • But isn't this video a proof of your existance?

    Gool work. Love it.

  • Delightful. And better, believable. Some might well believe that this is an actual part of the Hitchhiker's Guide. Solidbronze is clearly one hoopy frood who not only knows where his towel is, but has had it surgically attached that it may never go missing.

  • Nice

  • Awsome! A combination of two favourites

  • Brilliant. An instant favourite.

  • how did you do this?! this is brilliant!

  • Cybermen!

  • Nice

  • The Hitchhicker's Guide to the Galaxy has this to say about solidbronze: Absolutly brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "You've more chance of picking up a date in the hermaphrodite abstention classes of celibacix 6!"

    Pissed myself!

  • awesome!!!!

  • LOL mark 3 war bastard XD

  • I hope you're using this as a resume set-piece! Excellent work.

  • Wow. That was first class all the way

  • Fantastic. Perfectly done, with an excellent voice and brilliant animation. Love it.

  • Majoring in disco physics due to this

  • Really fantastic work. I had not seen the original when I saw this, so now I have to go look at that one....as soon as I can stop laughing so hard at this one! LMFAO!!!

  • wtf

  • Really really well done,

    makes me want more... awesome.

  • I almost cried at how beautiful that was.

  • Thats a really damn good impersonation. I watched the entire video thinking this was the real Peter Jones until I saw this was a video response to the original version.

  • @BackwardAssassin Thank you :)

  • "mark 3 war bastard" XD

  • Any chance for releasing the page about the Cybermen?

  • This makes me want to re-read the books. o3o

  • ... interesting.

    "THIS NEVER HAPPENS!" :P

  • Omg! No words can prove how amazingly brilliant this is!

  • This is frikkin' brilliant. Words fail me.

  • Still i dont really get what Dalek is. But it was obvious from beginning that they were something dangerous.

  • @RElouhila Daleks are the mutated remains of a humanoid alien species called Kaleds. In their mutated, Dalek state, they resemble green blobs with tentacles and claws, and are housed inside the iconic travel machines which double as their life support. :)

  • Interesting!!

  • They warned Davros about stairs.

    They told him

  • @woowoo678 I warned you about stairs bro!

  • Comment removed

  • But this video is a dead giveaway! This proves that you DO exist, and-

Damn. Forgot the words XD DINGO KIDNEYS

  • I love is! a tribute to two fantastic shows!

  • I feel Douglas Adams would have approved. I certainly do!

  • It's ironic. Davros football career was cut short by an accident. Well so was Matt Smiths.

  • Well done! As someone who watched both shows as soon as they were available in the States in the late '70's / early '80's, I really appreciated how well you did capturing the style of Hitchhiker, well applied to this subject.

  • Why does it show daleks as being robots?

  • @AidanMcNamee It doesn't; you can see "Kaled mutant" pointed out it the cross-section diagram.

  • @bmw328driver Oh yeah

  • Lol they killed the jagaroth!

  • amazing. I'm a fan of both HHGTtG and Who and this just made my day :D

  • brilliant stuff!!

  • Really, really excellent. I can't wait to show this to my daughter this evening. We've been watching Doctor Who (current series, the older version is too camp for her). I'd love to get her to watch my old Hitchhiker's Guide tapes with me. The BBC series was so much better than the movie.

  • Anybody asked Stephen Fry to do the voice over? Would tie-in with the movie...

  • Bloody brilliant!

  • Brilliant loved it.

  • That was just ... as the Doctor would say ... brilliant!

  • Excellent video! Good copy of the animation style and excellent ideas with the story. Well done with finding the Peter Jones soundalike too as that really makes it.

  • Overall you did an excellent job here. There are of course minor issues such as slow text to the speaking, but still... you invoke the droll humor of the guide for the character of the Daleks. The person voicing the book too is quite good too.

  • This is lovely work. Well done.

  • I have to ask what was used to put the guide entry together visually. I mean, it obviously wasn't hand-drawn like the original. :P

I would really feel like trying to make my own entries using something similar.

  • @ProtoKun7 Several bits of software: Blender, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere Pro chiefly, with audio in Audition.

  • very well done, very funny

  • Brilliant thanks, lot of anal nit pickers on here!

  • Hilarious, absolutely perfect. Imagine if you were a hitch-hiker and were picked up by a Dalek ship!

  • a too lengthy explanation which HHG would never do that.

  • Mark III war bastard XD

  • daleks can fly.....

  • @skaribou not at first

  • @TheAnimatedFish oh ok... stupid things :D

  • Hilarious! My only complaint though would be the guide text scrolls a bit slowly (in the original the text displayed a bit ahead of Peter Jones' speaking, for instance during the 'introduction to the universe' entry).

  • This is absolutely fantastic! Very well done!

  • Great work :)

  • Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

  • Mark3 War Bastard... Love it, this is very funny

  • This is totally awsome, would love to see more. Well done.

  • what does the hitchhikers guide have to say bout the Doctor I must wonder now, great video btw

  • the 14 people who disliked this are Daleks, and will exterminate it's creator for suggesting they might have some interest in dancing.

  • If you do nothing else in life it's okay - you've made many people happy with the fruits of your labour! Zarquon bless you!

  • This is just so awesome I didn't even want to believe that I'm seeing it up until 1-2 minutes into the video.

It has just so many things standing out. (even though it's about a race doesn't stand... even not when it comes to STAIRS...)

    Daleks prefer stars over stairs.

  • As a Fan of Doctor Who and Hitchikers This is Fantastic !!!

  • injury in pursuit of football career, eh?

  • Great vid, so long and thanks for all the fish!

  • This is pure genius. Thanks for making my night awesome!

  • Awesome piece of work! :D

  • Top Vid Giant thumbs up.

  • Fracking brilliant.

  • Could do with a little improvement but this is full of so much win it's overpowering.

I still harbour a desire for some sort of Android app full of Jones era Guide entries, whether they're all original or based on them.

    Someone make it happen! Please...?

  • That is awesome! Well done Andrew!!

  • This is awesome!

  • south park S15 ep 2 lol, AWKWARD!!!! =D

  • :-D :-D

  • Brilliant ;)

  • funny video

  • Brilliant! Sounds just like the original H2G2!

  • From this point of view, the Darleks sound remarkably like Wowbagger the infinitly prolonged.

  • This is great stuff. Think you could do a similar entry for Time Lords?

  • Hilarious! Very clever. I love it.

  • Wonderfull

  • This is really good.

  • super awesome, loved it

  • i lovethe narrataion and the graphics

  • Well done. Pretty seamless with the original BBC TV show. Thumbs way up!

  • Ha ha. Brilliant.

  • 12 Daleks were annoyed by stairs.

  • This sir is far beyond EPIC WIN!!!

  • BRILLIANT!!!!!! Loved it soooooooo much...... It's going into my favorites =D

  • PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Do Another One...! For God's Sake, Man, that was a Masterpiece...! And I rarely use exclamation marks, so that should tell you how much I liked it...! Brilliant, well thought out, the humor was layered & dense & it was %$#&-in' FUNNY...! I'll be VERY disillusioned with the world if you aren't doing that for a living. & I would continue to be excitable and emphatic if, by law, I was allowed to use more than 4 exclamation marks in any given month. Good On Ya, Man...-ZStar930

  • Now do the whole of Wikipedia :-)

  • HI THARER well like see the book dun fore star wars star trek and yes dr who be kind net to have allwhay like the books narater and be an exuws to get a e book reader butt the story has just a some entrays in it butt wich unvers do use fore it to bad thay dont do some new who shos with the book as player and bring back K9

  • I don't get the "vworp! Belgium" joke at 2:33

  • @LegeStylo Belgium is a swear word in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. :)

  • Dude! Spot On! Seen paradies of Hitchhikers before... but this falls more in to the 'homage' catagory! Don't know who would be prouder; Mr. Adams or Mr. Nation?& don't be too hung-up on the voice over! Hard to fill those shoes with so distinct a voice, and you did just fine!

One Question to all... Vogans OR Daleks???

  • Excellent

  • Mark III War Bastard. Love it

  • *work

  • wdf i thought this was real and official and published god you fooled me there nice owrk and make more :D

  • Excellent idea, let down by only one thing: Poor narration, although a huge improvement on your first HHG/DW mix and the speech is not in time with the text. Ok, that's two. Let down by two things: Narration, timing and length. It's just a smidgin too short (Smidgin: approximately 20 seconds) Ok, that's three. Three things: narration, timing, length and content. I'd have liked something about the emperor Dalek. So that's four things. Narration, timing, length, content and volume level.

  • @spacefan1962 Unfortunately, Peter Jones is dead.

    :'(

  • @solidbronze So is your sense of humour, apparently. Ker-chow! Oh well, I tried! Have you seen "Life of Brian" at all? My comment was a homage to a scene in that.

  • @solidbronze Peter Jones many be dead, R.I.P but I do like his Film counterpart Stephen Fry and he talks in a simuler way

  • @spacefan1962 I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition!

  • @Guyect NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Thank you for "getting" it. I was sad that some people actually thought I was criticising this video. It's one of the best things I've watched on Youtube!

  • @spacefan1962 I thought the narration was very charecteristic, original. This is one of the best home made YouTubes I've seen.

  • @matthewakian2 I think you mis-read my post. I liked it very much. My reply was intended to be in a similar vein-in this case "Monty Python's Life of Brian" meets the HHG doing DW. The narration was fine. Sheesh, like Guyect before me I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition!! OK, I admit it: I'm not a reviewer, I'm just a very naughty boy. Now here's the Batley Townswonen's Guild re-enacting the demolition of the earth by the Vogons....

  • @spacefan1962 My apologies then.

  • @spacefan1962 I think you'd better come in again

  • @spacefan1962 The text never went at the same speed as the narration in the real show...

  • @spacefan1962 ...lol I enjoyed that 62...
