"music of my mind" is one the greatest records of all time for me. all of stevie's records from the 7t's have "it", and that "it" comes from the bottom up. stevie is not technically a great drummer but his swerve is undeniably perfect. those ebbs and flows make songs like "i love every little thing..." so damn infectious. what ruins a lot of contemporary soul for me is the sterile time and lack of originality. we need a little more raphael saadiq, georgia muldrow and little less john legend.
