@DandelionFairy Its called a ruff, and having sung in a choir since I was about 7 I had to wear one for a few years and I can safely say they are one of the most uncomfortable things I have ever worn.

Because women are highly sexual creatures, easily given over to the wishes of the devil, and are distractions to men? Better to not let them sing or read or serve on the altar, keep them on one side of the church,or behind a screen or in an upper gallery? If you believe that sacred music was "intended" to be sung only by men, then I suggest that men do this while standing on a flat earth orbited by the sun.

Rutter has a gift for writing beautifully for this setup. St Pauls choir ought to be jolly good..im not kean on the way the recording is made though they have the microphones too close...result sound is a little dry and it makes it sound less legato than I suspect their director hoped..(taking into consideration the ressonace of the acoustic)
