Thank you for posting this great musical score that gives the viewer the feeling of endless spaces. Jerome Moross' musical composition reminds me of John Barry's powerful, rousing, & emotional score for "Dance with wolves". You also made excellent comments about the movie, the production, the script, the actors... Thank you for educating the community on this masterpiece of Hollywood cinema.
I donated my copy of the laser disc version to ARI years ago. Scott McConnell loved it. It's been my favorite movie since 1959 when I saw it in the base theater of US Army headquarters in Seoul, Korea. Thanks for the posting.
One of the most underrated great westerns of all time. The soundtrack is also a classic. Everyone in this movie was outstanding.
Tell you something, the moment when Jean Simmons realised in this movie that Gregory Peck was a man she wanted, that subtle look she gave him radiated more sensual sexual inuendo than any of this sexual trash they produce today.
this is exactly the type of sound i imagine of of when i think "classic western film score"... but im having a hard time finding other ones just like this, does anyone know any (besides Magnificent Seven)?
@thesir27 And Silverado. Also check out Dvorak New world Symphony, where it all began maybe. Sons of Katie Elder though definately. There are others but am too tired to think just now. Hope this helps.
Other classic intros: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, and High Noon spring to mind, and while they aren't movies, who can forget the intros to things such as Bonanza, High Chaparral and Champion The Wonder Horse?
I was very lucky, and to get the fully restored version with Dolby Stereo soundtrack was cream on the cake, especially as it was being sold at a discount. Normally, discount movies are old prints, so, I'm very pleased.
Just posted it to my Facebook to share with others

The fight scene was the best of this movie! The sound effects of the punches sounded so real back then as it was a great fist fight to watch.

@DSVOP Where did your purchase it ?
Nationsnotregimes 1 year ago
Just bought this great movie as part of a three movie boxset that included Magnificent 7 and The Long Riders.
It was £5 from a Sainsbury store in West London and the quality is excellent.

That is very nice of you. I am sure that I can watch it on cable or find the movie on the internet. Thank you!
