  • Hmmmm... You have this awesome knife, and you regularly use your relatively crappy CRKT Minimalist?

    How sad.

  • @Febeleh What makes the CRKT "crappy"?

  • RC, ESEE or Ontario?WTF

  • good review...I'm buying one....

  • i will trade you a taylor seto with a little damage to the edge but in good condition

  • who got the pink

  • Comment removed

  • @MrNinjaman69 if it has damage to the blade its not mint. mint is in the box never used.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrNinjaman69 i would say used near new because it has a little blade damage but thats it

  • i want to see someone actually use a neck knife. not sure when this would come in handy compared to anything else you could carry in your pocket or on a belt.

  • I know if you like it, I got to have one!

    Thanks! Great vid!

  • It's as much as a ka-bar :|

To expensive for me. The ka-bar is also made in USA(i'm not from the USA so i dont realy care:P) and from the same steel!

  • that is an adorable little letter opener

  • "There is no way the knife is coming out of that sheath, I don't care what you do." OK. What if I take a Corvette ZR1 & a Porsche 911 GT2 and tied a 1/4 mile of paracord to each the sheath and the knife...

  • @newcoyote Nothing will happen. However, if you tied the paracord to the cars then you might make some progress

  • only MAYBE then will it come out of the sheath....

  • Is charging over 80 dollars for such a small piece of steel really justified?

I could buy an entirely functional sword for the same amount of money.

  • @HamsterPants522 Sure, whatever you say, lol

  • @HamsterPants522

Could you recommend me a good place for a low cost functional sword??

  • @mythrilite Well the first place to look for that specific purpose would be the Sword Buyer's Guide. Just google that and look at the reviews they have up.

  • doodoo

  • Has anyone been able to take the whistle apart after putting it together?

  • @jlunit416 Yes use a credit card to open it

  • @seven47katana I've been trying my damnedest to get it open with the credit card method. Oh well, I can just buy another Fox 40.

  • would ballistol be a good oil to use for rust protection on this knife?

  • could it be used as a last ditch defensive knife?

  • my girlfriend got me an izula for christmas and i love it!

  • Watch all of cutlerylover's vids with the transcribe audio option on for instant lulz.

  • if you wrap the handle with cord and it gets wet, does it make the knife harder to grip?

  • @thetasters no

  • where do i store all the extra equipment it comes with?

  • I have an izula, trying to figure out how to wrap my paracord.

    Serial no: 12145

  • @Wabaanimkii williamcutting08 has a good video.

  • what size tech lock would fit the sheath ?

  • Where did you find that scale?

  • Nice presentation. Thanks.

  • should i get this or the becker necker

  • @TheIcoolable Both.

  • There new name is better ESEE and i just order this knife

  • @seven47katana How is that better? It sounds dumb.

  • You can get one of these(full kit) from Rocky National for just under 50 bucks; that's a pretty hard deal to beat.

  • hey good reviews man like always people get carried away like you oh well man

hey check out the buck vanguard i think you would enjoy it

  • Hey cutlerylover, whats your username on blade forums?

  • @huntinandawhipin Cutlerylover

  • @cutlerylover i got a question i know you got to oil the Izula or it will rust but what oil do you think i can use if i get this knife ? like what oil is the best for this knife ?

  • i bought the desert tan RAT Izula kit it is the best knife i have ever owned, and it did come with the od green paracord

  • i went to the rat online store and the kit was 60 and the knife and sheath were 50

  • would you make a trade with me for this or another neck knife?

  • can you oil this blade with vegetable oil? it's all i have that i think might work

  • Hi Jeff...what kind of scale are you using in this vid? Looks very accurate.

  • I wish these neck knives came with a water proof (no rust) construction.

  • @urkingod well thats why they coat them but the very edge where there is exposed metal it will rust if you dont keep a little oil on it after each use...

  • @cutlerylover what do you recommend once the blade get rusted ?

  • i just bought a Spyderco Civilian. does anyone know if these are legal to carry in CA

  • International orange paracord and the black izula is great looking!

  • a piece of para cord can be looped thru the sheath to use the supplied sheath . works great for horizontal or vertical carry.

  • Have you seen the screw on handles they sell for this on eBay? Not sure if it it better than the cord wrap I'm currently using..

  • just got my izula in the mail i love it!

  • I like the "made in the USA" part, even though I live in the Netherlands. It means it isn't made (badly) in some sweatshop in China...

  • i ended up ordering me an izula with a few other knives :)

  • I like youre reviews. Real good man. I was just on their side and whow, have you seen their Izula Folder by Tom Novak with D2 blade? I will have one when they come out. Hope the handel will come in titan and G10. It will be an hit. The price hm, I wonder::0)

  • this thing is wicked awesome looking I think this will be the next knife that I order, I love how you can kinda make it your own by customizing your paracord wrap on it

  • thats quiet a bit for that small knife

  • ave you gotten anything from knifeworks? The kit costs 53.95 there

  • Knifeworks is a great i just ordered my izula kit form them.

  • kabar becker necker or this?

  • This

  • WRAP IT PLEASE!

  • How is the name from th shop?

    Newgram?

  • newgraham...

  • Hey Jeff, a lot of people in Canada also like buying "made in USA", simply because given the choice between "made overseas" or "made in North America" well, as far as I can figure you guys have been on our side since about 1813 or so... lol. Together we stand tall. Canada, United States of (freedom protecting, God love 'em all) America!

  • @jaredbotha What country do you live in you fucking pussy?

  • hey cutlerylover i was wondering if you can post a video on how to wrap an izula with 550. I think you used to have it, but I cant find it anymore.

    thanks

  • There is an pdf instruction on RATC webpage for this ;-)

  • i was just on the RAT cutleryco. website today the knife and sheath alone was $81.08

  • new graham has it for $43 for just the knife

remember that there is normally some discrepancy between street price and msrp :)

  • THAT CONTEST HAS BEEN CANCELLED

  • I ordered mine 2 days ago. Can hardly wait for it :D

  • Wow thanks for the quick response dude! I'm going to look into that.

  • I'm really considering making this my EDC choice but I'd like to belt mount it, is the sheath capable of this? Is there an IWB sheath for the Izula?

  • Not stock, from what I know, but if your willing to spend a few extra bucks you cna have someone make you a IWB kydex sheathn for this knife for @ $30 - $60, depending whos makign it for you...

  • i am interested in a kydex sheath for this knife. What makers should i contact?

    Thanks a lot

  • @cutlerylover i know this is a old comment, but if you slide the belt through the one slot on your side and keep the belt over the sheath, it works just fine.

  • long video

  • Hey jeff, does 1095 take a patina? I mean, theoretically of course, could you strip the coating and give it a patina?

  • of course it does! it's carbon steel. and I really don't want to test taking sandpaper to my knife, but I'm sure the coating could be removed.

  • Hey man, I apprciate your vids. They are well thought out, articulate, and coherent. Keep 'em comin'. Good stuff.

    Jordan

  • aus 8 sucks

  • i want to get the full kit but dont have the mony rite now do u kno the prices in gbp if so can u send me a message whith cheepest brittesh price full kit and a link to were u can get it

  • im going to get one from yourcornerstore for 47

and use it for a ankle knife

  • I wanted to get one of these but I remembered the Cold Steel Double Agent II in my collection I hardly use. At abut half the price and AUS 8 steel. For the money I'd say it's a better knife. I do like the all black look in the Izula. Awsome review! Keep up the good work.

  • Sure, the Double Agent II may be half the price, but the Izula has, IMO, superior steel. 1095 carbon vs. AUS8 stainless. AUS8 isn't bad steel, but 1095 is easier to sharpen, takes a finer edge, holds that edge longer, and, as a bonus, is tougher than AUS8. The only thing AUS8 has going for it over 1095 is its rust-resistance, but 1095 is pretty rust-resistant itself for being carbon steel, AND the Izula is coated....

  • Here's the second part to my comment (clicked back, then forward, and the computer crapped out):... Design preference is subjective, but, FWIW, the Izula is more comfortable in my hand, and more pleasing to my eye than the Double Agent. I also think the Izula's design is more practical as well. In summary, I think the Izula is well worth the cost.

  • @Konban9vikar:

Cold Steel covers their fixed blades for 5 years against defects.

Rat Cutlery covers their knives forever against anything.

You decide which is better value.

  • I'll still will stick with the Agent for a knife I hardly use. If I need a small fixed blade that I'll use all the time, I'll spend the extra money for the fixed Gripitilain. At least I'll have a blade with 154cm and a life time warranty. For only 20 to 30 dollars more.

  • cool, i just order one of the izula kits and the new rc-5 survival knife. both in black, sweeeeet.

  • hey do u know how much the rat cutlery dpx H.E.S.T coast and were i can get it i seen it on there website but it didnt say the price so i thought maybe u know and im new to knife collecting so i was wandering is rat cutlery a good brand like benchmade or emerson thanks alot and great review

  • just the knife $55.16

  • do you think an izula could be used for EDC... dispite it bieng a fixed blade, it might look abit scarey for others.

    i dunno

  • I've been using mine for edc for about 2 weeks now. Its an amazing knife. I love using it, although some people might get a little nervous when you take it out.

  • i bet people wouldnt get so nervouse if you bought the "tactical pink" one!

  • lol prolly not,

  • I really appriciate these complete reviews on knives. thank you for your service to potential buyers or just interested viewers.

    THANKS.

  • where do you bye that

  • hey i need a good widling knife, one that won't go dull so quick, got any suggestions? preferably below $50

  • Not sure if it suits your needs but this knife is only about 50 bucks and it looks worth it. As a matter of fact I'm going to "loose" my current edc knife tonight so I have an excuse to buy this one haha.

  • get a mora high carbon of ebay for 25.00

  • but it will probably survive that you look at it ;)

  • the mora will probably do the job. but they are just so damn ugly and i don't like the design. most of their handles aren't full tang and when it comes to a survival knife, a full tang blade is a must in my opinion. if you need to do some heavy wood batoning i wouldn't trust the mora with it's half tang but for most tasks it's ok. i wouldn't rely on it 100% in a life or death survival situation but how often are we in that situation...almost never. but it's ok for price/value ratio i suppose.

  • the mora can take pretty much abuse the blade wont take much abuse before getting dull tho, but it can with success be used to cleave wood with help from a hammer or weight... I would thrust the mora in a life/death situation, nothing fancy about the mora. and about the full tang I think the older mora's with wooden handle are fulltang and those are still manufactured and that is a mora that is to be thrusted. the "original" ;)

  • They still make the full tang moras. Those are ok. The half tang plastic handled ones would do the job probably. Value for money, they're hard to beat. I love them for cleaning and gutting fish because of the thin blade. But for a survival knife I prefer better quality fixed blade knives. Like Fallkniven, Busse, SOG, RAT, Kershaw, Gerber, Ka-bar etc. Fixed blade survival only. The mora full tang would do a good job probably, but I don't like the plastic handled ones for hardcore survival.

  • I beat on my mora like a drum. I like a full tang knife, but try to break a mora!

  • Hmmm.. I beg to differ. when is the last time u found a knife that carves that good. If you break one every 10 years or so, you're outta $8. I'd rather use my mora than my tom brown tracker or Rat 3. Mora knives have stood the test of time!

  • I found them at the knivesshipfree website lots in stock and free shipping lol. great review btw.

  • great review, real good, plan on getting one real sooon, OD Green, and wraping the handle also OD Green, u do great work , and have inspired me to start collecting knives, thanks man

  • hey every one who want a izula there still 2 in stock at new graham only desert tan.

  • Thaanks man, I and more into folding pocket knives and daggers, but you inspired me and got me hooked to fixed blade with sheaths. I just got the full kit but in desert tan i couldn't get black.

    -SKSROUNDS

  • Where can you order this izula knife every where i look it cant get it.

  • Thanks for the great review Jeff!

I just ordered a black Izula knife w/ kit. I plan to EDC it and see how it works out.

  • Bull ants are crazy as hell! a colony of them can eat a whole elephant. and they kill people...I wouldn't want to piss on that ant hill

  • dang i tried to order this knife from 3 different sites... no one has it in stock!

  • I hear you there! Nobody has it and Cutlerylover won't trade me for his! I tried! :)

  • you said you won it in a photo contest? Can we see your entry?

  • I got second place in the 2nd quater...the winning pohtos are on the site...

  • that would be good as a backup on the weak side in reverse grip. Alsome review

  • Very Nice! I may get one of these, they're cheap and cool!!

  • how thick is the blade like in fractions of an inch?

  • hey cutlerylover, i just received my benchmade benchmite II and MY SOG micron!!! im so happy with my purchase! the benchmite looks awesome and the micron is so tiny!! :D

    thanks for all! :P

  • Yourcornerstore has this for 42 bucks and 55 with the kit in ODG Tan and black. Awesome knife and solid review dude. Peace

  • Darn! I meant to give you 5 stars and in my excitement my finger slipped and gave you three. Good video!

  • my brother got a izula in pink with black i think it goes on what looks the best

  • are these illegal in canada?

  • when i would wear this? isnt this going to fall out on me, because i dont like to have a consealed weapon falling down on the ground

  • Congratulations. Nice knife.

  • Whatever...

  • Ah, dammit. It is such a nice knife, and I want it and all, but the paracord wrap is an essential for me, the handle is to slim for my hand.

    Bummer.

    Nice knife nevertheless.

Hey, Jeff, just wondering, and this isn't relevant whatsoever, but what happened to that nice hard wood table? I got used to that look during your reviews (I must say I like the look of knives with that backing).

  • He went to wall-mart and bougth this piece of white foam, because that is a nice white background so that the knife is more outstanding compared to the white.

  • yeah Im still on the table I just used a some white felt to give a better backround...

  • I liked the wooden table better, lol. I don't know, when I was a noob to knife collecting, that is basically what I associated you with, a nice looking wooden table, lol.

Whatever, makes no difference, your reviews are still excellent, regardless of table color. ;)

    Hehe.

    Sal

  • Yeah! have been waiting for this, thanks for making Jeff! 5stars

  • Jeff, awesome review as always. 5**** Where did you get that cool little scale? I want and need one...

  • haha, ebay, like $20, just search digial pocket scale...got mine years ago, they might sell cheaper now....

  • if you go to school or whatever it might be best not to carry a digital scale like that in and showboat it cuz small scales nowadays are seen as drug paraphernalia as it's what drug dealers use to weigh their product that they sell. just a word of warning :)

  • i would love to see it paracorded up!

  • me too!!!!!!!!!!

  • Those bullet knives are pretty nasty...i searched it on youtube and there's a tribe that makes you put your hand in a pair of gloves filled with them for 10min with stingers pointed at them. That to become a man and 20 times of that to be considered a warrior.

  • I have been EDCing my Izula (#0017) since it came out, awesome EDC :) The fit on finish on this knife (as with any RC knife) is perfect.

The Izula makes a great EDC FB, and also a great hiking knife (or backup camping knife).

    Spot on review.

  • can you make an update on your EDC

  • hey cutlerylover, i was just wondering, what is your and smallest knife?? small like : 1-2 inch blade? :P

Just a little news ,im boxoming a youtube partner loll!! :D

  • congratulations! currently my 2 smallest users are my spyderco cricket and my benchmade benchmite II...

  • alright thanks for the quick response!!! :D

yeah i just ordered the benchmite II and the sog micron, cant wait to receive them! :P

    thanks!

  • hey if you have a spyderco tenacious can you make a video on it

  • Being a woman I would love the pink! But being practical Ild prob go with black.

I would love to see how you wrap it! I like a full handle so they dont get caught in the brush tho.

Cool lil fire starter and that whistle would be just enuf to stop a deer in its tracts!

That would look great hanging on one of my survival walking sticks!

    ;D ;D

    Helives!

  • looks like a GREAT skinning knife

  • thats just what i was thinking, heck it would be easy to clean too no handel scales to worry about.

  • Hey Jeff, do you think the Magnesium/Flint would fit inside the the handle? and then if it does, could you do a wrap over it?

  • gooid question, yeah loosk small enough to stuff it inside the middle of the wrap to keep for emergencies, if I make a wrap vuideo Ill try that...

  • I must say Jeff i would really like to see a video of you rapping the handle. Im sure others would as well.

  • $50? I could get a Ka-bar less than that.

  • Er, you know it's been the primary USMC knife for the last 50 years, right?
