I used to read ToI since teenage (when it was actually a newspaper). Have been reading both for approx 3 years now. ToI has simpler language and a bikini every alternate newspage (which alternate with full page ads). Easier to start with for new readers. Once you get serious and actually want to know what's happening in India and the world, there's no match for TH (except Indian Express maybe).
ToI publishes only 2 readers' letters a week, TH does a dozen everyday. They talk of reader connect?
I've been reading TOI for over 7 years, but having seen how vehemently readers of the Hindu tend to defend their newspaper, I subscribed to it for a week to see what the difference actually is. I realize that now. The Hindu tends to be far less 'sensationalist', publishes pretty much no celebrity gossip and trash, has an occasional full-page science and technology section, has much better writing in the editorial section, and a decidedly libertarian political stance. I'm switching over for good.
i knew the answers for all the question.........and in fact had doubt abt. hrithik's petname.............AND I HATE THE HINDU NEWSPAPER........C'MON GUYS......U R TALKIN ABT NEWS......read ANY one ENTIRE article from The Hindu and u'll surely sleep!!!!!!!!!
just one thing about the video.. people who were presumably questioned in real life were all young who would be less interested in politics and general news and much more interested in the so called masala news. but having said that if you interview only people of a certain age group, then you are never doing a fair assessment of a newspaper's quality? Neither do i oppose The HINDU or I support The TOI.. Frankly journalism in India is biased which we all know..!!!!!

@sushants1 u seem to hav misunderstood my comment. If you select a batch of people of the same age group and show them as examples, then really you are not presenting the actual facts. Really I don't have any hope on India being built as a nation. The main reason being; the whole system in India is flawed to the core to help corruption grow. unless something dramatic happens, nothing will change. it will go on forever. people like Kasab will enjoy their stay in India.
