I hate how people always rank players just cuz of how they bat n how many homers. I understand its a big part of beong good but why cant baseball players have stats for fielding.

instead of saenz and loney you should have had ortiz and hafner or helton and thomas. if they dont play you shouldnt draft them

Remember that in most formats, Ortiz, Thomas, and Hafner do not qualify at 1B. This list was minimum 0 ABs, but 20 games played at the 1B position.

As for Helton, don't hold your breath. This was a surprising season for him. As for Loney, I expect him to be a HUGE sleeper next year.

I should add that I suspect Helton will appear on this list for this coming season because of the .320 BA, but with his weak power numbers (15 HRs last year, 17 this year), there are plenty of better options considering that 1B is a position where you should be looking for power.

absolutely... i plan to do a position by position for fantasy baseball next year (minimum abs of probably 350-400 so that it will filter out some of the lesser players)

yeah i've got a little problem of my own... because of hafners troubles i had to pick up another first baseman aside from teixiera who i also drafted... but thankfully i got lucky picking up pena n hes been pretty solid.. especially from picking him up from the waivers list..problem is i have 3 first baseman and i couldnt get rid of hafner.. hafner just rides pine all year and wastes a spot..

Pena was a huge surprise this year (I expected him to breakout TWO years ago, and I flopped). He will most certainly make this top 10 list next year. Good pickup and good luck the rest of the way. I have Pujols and Delgado as my 1B and 1/3 and I am in first place in my league.

what ever happened to travis hafner or mark teixeira?? hafner's 05 season was nasty with 42 hr's and 117 rbi's. not to mention that teixeira's 04 season was quite impressive as well with 43 hr's and 144 rbi's. not that hafner has been great this year with his 265 BA.. but berkman hasnt been special this year either and you ranked him #2

There is so much talent in Australia but not enough funding, DAMN SHAME... Myself playing in the under 18 state team few years ago for South Australia was offered to go to Miami could have had a chance to play college baseball but i didn't end up going due to cost and the lack of Australian support! So If there is someone out there that could change this! baseball could be a worldwide sport like soccer and making the game not a good one but better one!!! More action needs to be made....

actually, no... first base is the deepest position, for one... secondly, playertrack ranks all players against each other and on a prorated basis... it isn't a predicted ranking... it is actual performance from 2006... and while howard led the majors in mlb, his 0 sbs hurt his overall rank in 5x5
