  • @sdurgefafd why not

  • Comment removed

  • @zft51994 thats interesting to know that! thx for telling!

  • @zft51994 Christmas is an ancient pagan celebration held at the time of year when the nights are the longest and the days are the shortest. When Christanity began it's spread across Europe, it had to incorporate the holidays of the conquered people into it's teachings so that it would be more readily accepted and integrated into those societies. In actual strict orthodox teachings, Christ was born in the summer, which makes more sense given the story of his parents going to fulfill the census.

  • @VoidOnTuesday Well, thanks I think. Haha, chill out man, you sound so strict. I mean, sorry if I got it wrong. I guess my source wasn't very accurate. Uh, I'll remove my post if you're offended. I heard your version before but I wasn't too sure if it was true 'cause it seemed a little... Oh never mind.

  • @zft51994 I'm totally calm. It is just irritating to see somebody correcting somebody else when their correction is in error. I'm not offended, but these misconceptions have lead to more than just friendly disagreements, people have died defending these insane beliefs without even the faintest idea of where they came from, why they are what they are, and why they are told to believe them.

The better you expand your mind the more protected you are from those who will exploit you.

  • @VoidOnTuesday Haha, you still seem pissed! But besides that, I was mainly trying to answer why Muslims can't celebrate Christmas, not give its history. So forgive me! \(^-^)/

  • @zft51994 my point is anybody can celebrate Christmas, since it is not an inherently religious holiday. It's been changed so much from its original form, which isn't even what most people think it is. So why are you going to exclude Muslims based on that???

If Muslims had conquered Europe in the 16th century like they almost did, we would probably still celebrate Christmas, it would just be called something else and it wouldn't be about Jesus.

  • @VoidOnTuesday Haha, I'm Muslim and all my Muslim teachers say we can't celebrate Christmas or stuff like Halloween. While Christmas may not be 'inherently religious' as you say, the fact that it is not an Islam holiday forbids us from celebrating it. You know, like New Years.

Haha, I get your point but I'm very sure about what I'm talking about 'cause I'm an actual Muslim. We're not supposed to celebrate it. But I like the idea of giving and receiving gifts, nonetheless.

  • @sdurgefafd I see no reason why anyone, whatever their beliefs, should not enjoy traditional food around Christmas time.

  • @TitliNihaan yes, I do not celebrate christmas at all but the food is good anytime! As long as it is halal right? :D

  • @EvelynGB What's halal?

  • @TitliNihaan Absolument d'accord!

  • @TitliNihaan Amen, sister... amen :-)

  • @sdurgefafd what's your problem with that?

  • @sdurgefafd 1500 years ago

Early christians: Christmas?? Why would we celebrate that?!?!?

Priest: We're trying to convert these pagans here, so we have to adopt some of their hollidays. Oh and BTW Christ's birthday is now the 24th of December.

Early Christians: But he was born in the summer, it says so right here!

Priest: Let me see that... hmmm... okay it's gone now

Early Christians: Fuck this let's convert to Zoroastrianism.
