  • This is thevshit

  • listen to the rest of this mix at mixcloud

  • yes so what you're saying is, it wasn't always "longplay mixes" as you put it. Dj's got creative and found a way to EDIT the songs live, making them SHORTER by playing the best parts. This means that I was partially correct in my description when I said "the way it was mixed back in the daze." What I mean is even though this mix was edited on a program, it is TOTALLY possible do live with the strategy mentioned by YOU.

  • @outofcontrolpete I guess it is, but it takes skill to do it without the use of a program!!! As YOU mentioned! Djing has become something anyone can do by buying a program and a controller for their computer!!! The skill has been taken right out of it!!! Or as i like to call it djing for Dummies!!!

  • @housemanchi I completely agree that a lot of so called djs mix when in reality they they're just pushing preset buttons to premixed and edited music. The other thing to keep in mind is even though the "mix" was enhanced digitally, there is a method that was used and one can tell by the edits, song selection, rhythm and tempo flow, instrument relevance, and song sequence wether the dj has/had skills (most likely aquired through extensive live mixing at the best clubs and concerts).

  • Actually this wasn't how it was mixed back in the days! Back in the days we did oldschool longplay mixes live on turntables with vinyl! Much different than this.

  • I guess you're right. What I should've said was "the way I WISH it was mixed and heard." Growing up listening to WBMX I often felt that the songs were dragged out too long. I had frequently pause while recording my mixtapes!

  • @outofcontrolpete Not really true, alot of us used to edits, what do you think doubles of every record are for! You could use the meat also known as the best parts of a record and you can cut or blend to different parts, then jump closer to the break. And we did it all without the use of computers and programs! Back then it took actual skill to be a dj.
