@juancarlos772652 exactly, sounds like the meth epidemic could have been controlled had the government forced the pharmaceutical industry to stop producing the key ingredients that went into making methamphetamine. As you say, profit over saving lives. What the Reagan government didn't know in the 1980's was that the financial cost to law enforcement and the health industry due to meth abuse (over the years that followed) would far outstrip the profit made by the pharmaceutical industry.
@BawlinOnaBudget why does the average black drug user use crack instead of meth, if meth is cheaper and ultimately more powerful. From my limited understanding of drugs, crystal meth is about 10 times more powerful than cocaine and 20 times more powerful than speed. So why is meth only the white man's drug of choice.

i never have and never will see the need to even ever try meth once . It is such a toxic and gross drug that I don't know how people try it when there's other drugs that don't destroy your life and body . Can't help but feel sorry for the families and especially the kids involved in these meth addicts lives .
To wit, I also find despicable the use of the "mug" shots (I would have thought these photos to be confidential and private but I guess the producers neither respect human rights or human dignity). It was pure sensationalism and exploitation. Shame on you Frontline!
I am so disappointed by this broadcast as I used to think Frontline an objective and progressive media source, but alas I was mistaken. In an hour of programming on meth use, virtually nothing was mentioned about what causes addicts to use: potency, cost to property owners, cost to social services as a result of meth orphans, bureaucracy vs. pharmacological industry, policing, cartels, etc. But NOTHING|G on harm reduction/social causes. Instead just read Gabor Mate and embrace postivechange.

I've never seen or used meth but a former best friend got hooked on it (from who, no idea) and he lost pretty much everything: job, apartment, dog (his mom had to adopt it) and I'm sure some scavengers got to his stuff when he was thrown out of the apartment. Not to mention I was TRYING to help him move to another apartment but he spent the entire time passed out on the floor. Turned from a good friend to a total nuisance.
