  • You should see voltron force on nicktoons ! It has way better graphics and the lions really look like lions not a square. This version of voltron SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!

  • @pae913 how old are you? (me? 41) this was meant to be seen in the early 80's i never saw this version, only the toy,it was sold as voltron 2 back in the day

  • Ummmmm English please?

  • If it was released at all in America in the 80s it was extremely limited. Many areas never saw the show.

  • I have an idea .. . . lets . . . get some people together . . . and use teh plan for voltron 2, and make the series that never was via editing albegas

  • @Ralokone Better yet. Get WEP to do it. They own the rights to this.

  • i wonder why this never took off. Look pretty good to me.

  • I was really confused by this anime, I dont think that it was meant to be watched by kids of young age.

But such a great anime :)

  • Strange this was supposed to be Voltron 2 when it never reached American television, while the lions were called Voltron 3.

  • @FoxPlant2006 The VOLTRON 2 series was shown in USA long time ago in 1980's on the channel 45,but because the VOLTRON 2 SAMURI FORCE( the 3 robots) wasnt as popular as The 5 Lions VOLTRON,or The Vehicle Force VOLTRON, The ALBEGAS VOLTRON 2 was shown for only 1 season, I saw very little of the English Version at the time it was aired-I know there was 3 VOLTRONS die cast model toys made but didnt know VOLTRON 2 was called ABELGAS-But Ebay sells all 3 metal body MATCHBOX VOLTRONS

  • Omg I had the three robot Voltron! Which I thought was wack cause I never saw a cartoon of it1 I would've settled for the car Voltron! LOL!

  • Nerd head explode

  • If anyone could do a fandub of this series, it would be so cool!

  • I new I wasn't crazy. I always had a memory of a Matchbox Picture Ad. It had all 3 Voltrons pictured. I always thought of these robots and wondered how they formed. I'd bring up that there were 3 versions in other forums but people never responded , which made me assume they did not know what I was talking about. I wish I knew that this video had been up for 4 years, I would have been posting it more often to remind people that there were 3 voltrons, not just 2.

  • @hootyhaha you were not alone i remember watching the intro to the Volrton Universe it only came on twice and the narrator said that there was there 3 Voltron robots Far, Middle and Near the But the Voltron from the Middle Universe had Huge Lion on it's chest. I never saw it again. that god for you tube lol.

  • @hootyhaha now i remember it was called the "Voltron Trilogy" and i only saw it twice

  • @hootyhaha Daltanious VOLTRON of The Middle Universe( I just goolgled it lol) he was the robot I saw in the "Voltron Trilogy" (not this one) intro that's it . sorry for sounding crazy lol.

  • I remember the rumors when I was little about a 3rd Voltron but never actually saw it!

  • Check out the dude in the blue suit - business in the front, party in the back!

  • Out of all 3 Voltrons this would be at the bottom of this list, I didn't even see the toys for this one except for the advertising on the back of the box for the lion or vehicle Voltron.

  • I remember seeing this toy all the time but found it boring so I never snagged it.

  • Comment removed

  • DUDE, WHERE DID YOU FIND THIS!!!!

For the Record, Vehicle Voltron was Cooler, but the Lion Series had a better story line.

  • Nothing beats the Lion Voltron... but this one is certainly different.

  • I had toys of all three Voltrons, Lions, Vehicle, and the Robots from this cartoon when I was a kid growing up in the 80's, now the only one I still have is the Lion Force Voltron that came out in '84.

  • ghey

  • Peter Keefe, the creator and executive producer of Voltron, died on May 27th. RIP!

  • I had this voltron toy as a kid. When you put it together, it had six arms. Great fucking memories.

  • Sweet!! Thanks for that. i now feel a compulsion to find this series on video. I don't think we got this series in the US. If we did, I missed it.

  • My friend David had the Red Gladiator, they should have shown them here in the states but Volton vehicles had such bad ratings they never brought it out here, but they sold the toys in store..Weird

  • Nice find. I love that Abega was part of this. That was always one of my favorite Godaikin sets.

  • So where can we find that preVoltron Albegas anime in English from 1983? I see the CYBERNAUT (ALBEGAS anime game) sometimes available but did that have the ALBEGAS footage actually dubbed in English? It was made before the Voltron 2 promos ever came on TV. Or the early Voltron pilot with Daltanious. I read there were only 400 copies of the ALBEGAS - CYBERNAUT anime game ever released by Sega. Maybe this had something to do with WEP never releasing Albegas as Voltron 2 on tv, unlike the toyline?

  • Always wanted to watch this show more as a kid.

  • i hate to say it but this is not rare anymore seeing how it's on youtube now xD

  • @alucardnolifeking222 RARE because U wont see ALL of the seasons episodes same way as the G1 TRANSFORMERS is shown, ABEGAS VOLTRON didnt run but 1 season on LOCAL CHANNEL 45 in the United States-It didnt do too well over here-THE SHOGUN WARRIORS robot toys had 3 of them too

  • i loved this show. i liked the lion one for the villian looked like Drzzzzzzt. Or Elrick of Melebone.

But i also like lots of viehicle.

    Now i make movies

We make them and put them on You Tube

    Fantasy movies

    Movies by Shadowyn Films

    Title: Soul Searching

Check them out if you like action and character

  • check out blue oyster cults song black blade for elric

  • the voltron they could not revoice wolrld events turned two shows from japan into voltron by revoiceing them the the lion and vehicle where origanily two seprate shows the world events production team could not re work the voice formate for albegas so they got the origaninal animators to come to america and animate a third season featuring the lion voltron wich had the best rateings. this is staeed in the voltron dvd extras

  • I used to watch this all the time as a kid.... wow, finally found the name of the show 22 years later...

  • this voltron looks like Transzor Z, even assembles like transzor Z

  • @lawmancpa it IS Transzor Z

  • @DarthMorbius1977 No its Albegas. Tranzor Z is orignally Mazinger Z.

  • I still have the toys!!!!! My kids don't understand why I won't let them play with them.

  • @Ecrofgee U wont let them play with the toys because THEY ARE COLLECTORS ITEMS-also because of the toys age, whatever plastic parts that VOLTRON has will be very BRITTLE-I still had a ROBOTIX toy set by MILTON BRADLEY that you put together made from 1980s plastic-by now, wasnt able to assemble it to anything because PLASTIC BROKE so easy from age-So U would know what would happen to that VOLTRON ALBEGAS,The Metal bodies would outlast those plastic parts if U transformed it to Gladiator mode

  • @OLDSCHOOLHHSEX Have the albegas Voltron and you're right. I tried to disassemble the robots from Voltron mode after 20 years and the plastic is paper brittle. And the paint is flaking off my black robot. Had to keep them together.

  • @sjsdirectny There is 1 of 2 ways to make REPAIRS on that old plastic-1 using Oringinal that U got, It takes practice on Scale models B4 U use this trick on that Classic toy-The GOOP RUBBER CEMENT*=)p-shameless plug here* combined with Super glue IS NOT easy to do,but it does repair broken MOLDED plastic! 2nd repair type is IF U can find parts from EBAY, That ALBEGAS TOY is almost Extinct !! >=(

  • @Ecrofgee HA! YOU BETTER NOT!! (i remember when HILLS sold them billed as voltron 1,2 and 3 back in like 83 ish!!)

  • I have never seen this voltron, not the cartoon anyway, but I remember seeing the toy in catalogs. I wanted to get one, but that never happened. Anyway, seems like a cool voltron, though. And, watching "his" formation, it's does lack the majesty of the lion voltron forming, but it is a powerful experience. Still, I wish I had a gladiator voltron toy back in the day, that would've been so cool:)

  • evangelion

  • My brother and I had these toys... long gone now, unfortunately!

  • this looks to be around the same years as Battle of the Planets and Tranzor-Z..no?

  • OMG I been looking for this for damn near 20 years! I did see the gladiator voltron on the back of the toy boxes. My college graphic design professor was the one who did the box artwork and even he never saw any animation based on it. He did the artwork based on the actual toy. He also did the toy artwork for Transformers.

  • no this is Arbegas

  • You know this is no Voltron right? It's actually called Lightspeed ElectroGod Albegas, like the other 2 "Voltrons", Beast King Go-lion! and Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV, why would they turn them into a totally different series? who knows O_o

  • @magnahelix

They merged the shows for syndication reasons, same as Robotech. In the US, a syndication package requires at least 108 episodes (about 3 seasons). Otherwise, TV stations won't buy it. Voltron was different because the lion version was so popular, they hired the original Japanese studio to make more episodes only for the US (which is why King Zarkand mysteriously resurrected after being killed as a Robeast - the original series finale ).

  • I had these back in the day. It was terribly confusing to my young mind.

  • Shit! I had this toy! I always thought I got some rip off Voltron. I was always getting hand-me-downs anyway. LOL!

  • If this is Voltron, where's the fanfare music?

  • This is Voltron. It was going to come over to the USA. I saw the toy on the back of the boxes but they toy company canned it.

  • I saw some of the toys in Colorado years ago.

  • Because of the poor success of the vehicle Voltron, plus the Lion Voltron was more popular

  • reminds me of an animated power rangers

  • Kind of bland robot designs.

  • That was the style in the 80s. Go look at the original Transformers compared to Gundam or something.

  • I'd say that was more the studio then just the "style". Mazinger Z, Grandizer, Danguard Ace, Gai King. These were all 70's-80's too but were more interesting to look at.

  • Albegas Rules!!!!, its better than Voltron.

  • haha you are right, but US fans dont know that

  • made buy the same has voltron

  • There was a spanish dub of Arbegas. I saw that when i was a kid, and was great. Better than Voltron, good thing they never ruined this show.

  • some even thought God Sigma was a version of Voltron because of the V on it's chest ans the red V wings it has the is simular to the ones the 5 lion Voltron has. Go look at God sigma video and you will see the simularity

  • I'm almost 40 and I remember this. Albegas is the original Voltron but it was brought to America very briefly as Voltron 2. The lions is the most popular one but it's actually the second Voltron. Albegas, then the lions then the Vehicles

  • Two words: fan dub!

  • This is ALbegas NOT VOLTRON!!!

  • As was mentioned in earlier posts, this figure set was released in the United States as Voltron II. Liscensing was obtained by Matchbox, so in the US he is legally Voltron. Don't like it, take it up with INS.

  • I remember this version of the voltron toys in the stores, vaguly.

  • cuz vehicle voltron didn't go over to well and eventually ended the series

  • The real name for this cartoon is : "Kosoku Denjin Albegus" ...

    but in Arabic : "3 Braves" ... ^_^

  • Albegas has nothing to do with Voltron

just a Dub Mistake that's all

    you can check

  • That is Voltron2 Gladiator Albegas.

  • lol , thats not a Voltron.

That series called Lightspeed ElectroGod Albegas.

  • The Albegas toy was released as Voltron ll here in America in the 80's by a toy comapny called Matchbox. lol very funny, eh? Vechicle Voltron l also known as Dairugger XV didn't do as well as Golion Voltron lll or else Albegas would of been dubbed in english and have seen a release here in the states.

  • You are correct, however I'm from America so this was Voltron 2!! I never got to see this version as the Lion was the most popular, then the Vehicle Voltron!!

    I'm 31 years old now!!! I miss the 80's!!!

  • I remember seeing the that toy in the 80s. I still have the metal lion voltron.

  • Does anyone know where I can watch/download a few episode of this? I've been looking for it for a long time and in a few languages(English, Japanese, Chinese, Malay) too but couldn't find any

  • Kousoku denjin ALbegas is awesome man

  • Nope, not Voltron!

  • This is not Voltron, jackass. this is Arbegas. wish is better than Voltron.

  • You're the only jackass in this situation. For your information, this video was posted by a company, World Events Productions, not an individual. They made Voltron using animation from two Japanese series, GoLion and DaiRugger. Albegas was going to be the third, but the plans fell through. If you bothered to do a little research instead of automatically insulting people, you wouldn't be a jackass.

  • I like the other voltron with lions!

  • This Voltron lacks the majesty of the lion Voltron.

  • this is a sh@t! and I am a voltron fan

  • Thanks for this video. I had the toys - the the 3 robots that formed this "voltron". It was marketed here in the USA back then as Voltron II (Lion Voltron being Voltron I and the Vehicle Team Voltron being Voltron III). But they never aired a "Voltron II" series (redub/reprod from Japanese anime).

  • This is not Voltron. This is Albegas. The 2 "Voltrons" were 2 Japanese Tv shows lions voltron known as "golion" and Dairugger XV known as the second voltron. These two shows were linked together, but Albegas is a totally different story. Great Series though, loved the ending too.

  • *WiLLiaM Fiorentini*: VOLTRON *****

  • You know, it's funny cause I used to study the "Gladiator" Voltron from Matchbox on the back of the box to my Vehicle Force Voltron and wonder which incarnation of the show it came from. Despite being a big fan of all that is Voltron- this tansformation from 3 giant robots into 1 is nowhere near as impressive as the other two versions!

  • Watched this when I was a kid really like it. However the robots looks allot like soundwave from transformers.

  • Matchbox DESTROYED these toys in America. The plastic was cheaper, the firing mechanisms were glued over and I swear, I went through like FIFTY of these in the toy aisles JUST to get one that didn't have paint / chrome / sticker problems. In fact, a TON of them were broken IN THE PACKAGE! My favorite toy was a snap-together combiner model I got of them out of a gumball machine... had his combining sword and everything. Never could seem to get the blue one, sadly.

  • Holy Shit! It's Arbegas in Go Lion!! I watched Arbegas when I was a kid growing up in Peru, too bad the series was not aired here. Piece of Shit Fagot Motherfucker!!!

  • I'm sorry, my idiot friend messed up my comment. The last line was not mine, I apologize.

  • lol, sounds like you have text-tourettes

  • lmao

  • It wasn't just "on the back of the box". It came out in the States. I had it.

Also, I'm not sure what's supposed to be so "rare" about this footage. It is a relatively well-known show in Japan. If it were dubbed in English or something, that would be pretty damn rare, but...

  • Crud! I love Voltron & robots in general but this is just plain ugly!

  • This ain't no rare footage.

  • LOL i seen this in the toy store when i was a kid, it was called "Voltron" i thought that crappy piece of shit isnt voltron, looks like i was wrong

  • in chile we saw this series with his original name "Albagas" in TVN in 1989- 1990 . why allways in usa change the name of the series??

  • @lamelotu21

It's a wierd habit of them.

    From Gatchaman to Battle Planets,

    Bismarck to Saber Riders, V

    oltron to Dairugger/GoLion

    and finally

    Zyuranger to Power Rangers.

Maybe so US kids can easily pronounce them? And editing death scenes I guess. =P

  • Holy crap....I'm undecided over the three combiner bots, but that evil overlord and his space fortress with the dragon heads looks BADASS! who is he?

  • I think this was call mazinger in Peru.

  • Are you being sarcastic or just plain stupid? Sheesh!!

  • I used to watch a mexican dub(I assume) of this series but not as a voltron. It was pretty cool. Along iwth that robot that had a lion face in its chest if anyone remembers the name of that one. It'd be nice to know after all these years(I was 4-6 when Isaw these)

  • dartanias.

  • hahaha wow yeah thanks to that name drop I saw a vid of him. He was my favourite, liked him more than voltron but I recognize how little I remember of it.

  • This one migbht have been kind of interesting and people who vouch for Lion Voltron really need to watch the Vehicle series it was more violent and other things during that series.

Lion Voltron would be torn apaart if he tried to take on Vehicle Voltron's task.

  • Lion Voltron had most of it's violence edited out for the US release

  • Yeah, i've been watching the original Japanese version, Golion, and all I can think is...WOW! Zarkon and Lotor CAN kill people, lol. And the Voltron/Golion force are alot more willing to kill than in the U.S. version (oh yeah, and the Robeast gladiator matches are MUCH bloodier, all kinds of awesome, lol)

  • I remember this voltron. just as cool. for the hard core fan

  • For years I was one of the only people I knew that was aware of the third Voltron! I only knew because I got one as a Christmas gift as kid. Left me in tears too, I wanted Voltron and expected the lions or the vehicles, instead I got.. a blue robot. Now I wish I still had thing and appreciated it more.

  • this one was incredible to me especial the new approach of only 3

  • well at least your 'rents didnt give you micronauts like mine did.

rubber band rip offs. lol jk!

  • wow after 20 yrs i get to see voltron 2,but i hate to say this .but this one would have tanked over in the u.s

  • Was that Tony Stark in the control room?

  • i seem to remember that the plot would of been that a rogue member of the Druul Empire, lands on Earth to take it over and that a Scientist who worked on Voltron builds a robot , but three young kids get involved and bcome the pilots.

  • Cooooooooool.

I had the black gladiator back in the days.

    Is Albegas a good series?

  • this in not voltron

  • It was suppose to be part of the voltron series. WEP had already bought the rights to this show, and planned on relaesing it redubbed as part of the voltron saga, but when vehicle voltron series did not receive the praise that the lion voltron did, WEP decided not to release it on tv. If you had either the original lion or vehicle voltron toys as kid, you would have seen pictures of all three voltrons on the back of the boxes, but then again I do not know how old you are.

  • Yeah, I remember seeing "Voltron 2" on advertised on the back of the box and wondering why I'd never seen it on TV.

  • lemme guess you think the lions were the only voltron?

  • (or Light-speed Electro God Albegas, on your language, 'cause i`m not expecting y'all, fucking "gringos", to have the minimum of culture to understand japanese or even another idioms rather than your "english"...), so please, do us and yourselves a favor, and stop being copycats, and mimicking series' plots just because you haven't what it takes to made big animation hits... so called "americans"... scumbags

  • You are right. Americans don't have what it takes to make big animation hits. Disney and Pixar studios produce complete garbage that nobody watches. I doubt the upcoming CGI Clone Wars movie (based on the award-winning animated series) will resonate well with fans of animation either. I hope I'm not laying it on so thick that you fail to realize my point, even if it is written in mere American English.

  • I totally agree with you, bpd77, and I've understanded your meaning very clear, my friend... I`m completely sorry about what it should come from that infamous "Clone Wars" 3D movie (I`m also an old Star Wars fan). God help us [:(]

  • by the way, bpd77, I just remembered... soon in my channel I will have soon my own translations

about "Kousoku Denjin Albegas" opening, japanese/spanish/english spoken... In the meantime, got uploaded recently an intro vid from "SPACE ADVENTURE COBRA" , a japanese animation hit, on the air in the early 80`s

in almost all Southamerica; featured the same way (jap/spa/eng.)... I hope you enjoy it... be welcome to visit me when you want!

  • that's not VOLTRON, you bunch of fucking stupid retards!! that`s a whole different series, called "Kousoku Denjin Albegas"

  • WEP was looking into turning it into a thrid Voltron series. It is even shown on an old toy poster with Lion and Vehicle Voltrons. It was labeled Voltron II.

  • that doesn't make it a "Third Voltron"... it`s just a commercial strategy to sell, sell and sell... sounds clear to me

  • it`s the same plot when some toy enterprise made Robotech's "repaints" redubbing'em as "Transformers" ... do you know "Taka-kanaka" and "Kokai-mun"?: those are Hawaiian Transformers, but does that make'em REAL TRANSFORMERS? No way!!

  • Lion voltron was the best. I never cared for any of the other versions or robot shows.

  • >lets form voltron!!!

  • I remember these. I wanted them even though none of the stores near me sold them, and I had never saw them in a cartoon until now.!!

  • it wasnt actually a spin-off. It was a completely different series which was planned to be translated as if it took place in the same universe as golion (lion voltron). This, also, is a completely different show, but would have been shoved into the same universe as the other two if it was translated by World Events.

I thought this thing was supposed to have four arms, like a robot goro?

  • Why is it that in many Japanese action shows, when characters call out their special moves, they do so in English?

  • maybe to them it sounds better than saying in thier own language. like when you play

street fighter, ha-do-ken sounds a lot better than yelling fireball.

  • I'm italian and this cartoon made it here, it actually was a very good one, both the villains and the good guys were very interesting ^^

    sanbai ken!! XD

  • It's a good thing it wasn't used, otherwise the Latin American, Italian and all other dubs of Albegas would not have existed. They would have dubbed it from the American version just like Golion and Dairugger were. Italy actually had Golion but Voltron's appearance forced it to be cancelled.

  • seriously. If it wasn't "The Lost Voltron" I wouldn't even be watching this video. This shit is boring.

  • yeah ba theres even a voltron that were vehicles and there where like 20 to make the mecha

  • voltron I

    the lions where voltronIII

  • Why was this never released in the US?

  • vehicle voltron had a huge ratings drop (for obvious reasons... you know, no lions), and it looked like putting an even less interesting formula robot show on the air wouldn't help. It's the same reason why "Volton" is pretty much ONLY Lion Voltron in the states.

  • Remember that voltron has many alliance in galaxy they had their own versions.

  • theree a laser disc games to this anime

  • wow...this is crazy old school..correction, i stand schooled.

I never heard of this one.

  • The best Voltron was the Lion Voltron. That one "Alvegas" looks so cheap the Characters... on this order are the Voltrons on my list from favorite to last favorite: Lion Voltron Vehicles Voltron .

Too bad they didn't made an anime with the return of the Lion Voltron...(not that 3D Lion Voltron that sucked)but the Anime one.

  • where can we buy the dvds?

  • Arvegas has one of the best intros I have ever seen. It also has a very cool transformation. It looks like whomever drew it put time and effort into it. Damn todays cartoon are looking very stupid and lazy!

  • were did you find this

  • Wow, this was a painful experience.

  • it's very bad. great on ***leo voltron force** o en iyisiydi valla

  • hey dudes. when the directors first saw the beast, the looked at his legs and said "woah, those ar be-gas" hence the name. thank-you for listening.

  • i to see voltron on my spam please thank you.

  • i very voltron naughty sperm ingest. nasty nasty voltron rudy nudie thrust buttslaps.

  • taklitler asıllarını yaşatır.Yaşasın asıl voltron

  • Thanx so much for this version, when I got the toy Lions, I remember lookin on the back of the box and they had all 3 Voltrons, I acquired all 3, unfortunately my nephew found the Gladiator and broke him as well as the AirSeaLand or better yet the Explorer version Voltron...

  • brothers, ese no es voltron 1 ni voltron 2, es ARBEGAS, "el rayo custodio" lo formaban los robots, alfa, beta y gamma ese si era un vacilon super funny.

  • nothing compared to the real deal lion voltron

  • In fairness, Albegas was never a Voltron to begin with. It was a separate toy franchise by the same company who made GoLion. America fused the 3 properties as one brand, Voltron.

Albegas never made it to America as a cartoon. Only Dairugger, known as Voltron 1.

  • Sorry to inform you but 2 of the 3 voltrons made it to the US. Vehicle in the Near Universe and the Lion one in the far universe. Albegas voltron or aka Sentinal Voltron was suppose to be from the middle universe.

  • Props on the info

  • I have the last 3 episodes for this. Wish they had brought it over

  • Weird. Never heard of this Gladiator Voltron but thanks to Wikipedia for clearing it all up! Lion Voltron is still the best, of course.

  • I remember seeing the toy for this voltron alongside the other voltrons in toysrus back in the day...they always had so much cause they never sold.

  • I actually had the red one. Couldn't find the other 2 to save my life.

  • This is a show called ARBEGAS, i have some of the episodes. Matchbox imported the toy from Japan

  • The guy in the red shirt looks alot like Coop from MEGAS XLR.

  • You're right! He does look a little like Coop from MEGAS XLR. :D That's just too funny!

  • Dude I have been looking for something showing this for a long time. I always wondered as a kid, what was the deal about the 3 voltron.

  • So, you never knew about the 3-gladiator Voltron of Earth? Wasn't that on TV when I was a little kid? I'm almost 45, now...

  • danm

  • Hey, I just realized I have the red one in a box of old stuff here...a grand on Ebay you say? I'm digging into that box!
