idk know about.... i think with her shoulder healathy its a toss up but I would really love to seee both maria and serena at their best in a match again
she has not enough variety (like Justine had) to give them trouble...when she's down it's hit the ball even harder, which obviously doesn't work against the sisters, since they like pace.
Well sharapova has a winning Record Against Venus She leads the Series 4-3(i think)and with Serena she is Down 5-2??Well It doesn't Matter Who wins the Matches just hope they Will Give GREAt matches as they do???
despite her "more promising" records against the sisters, she cannot stop either of them when they are playing well.
When they were both playing well, and she was injured, she got crushed. When they are all playing well, she always loses in a close one. When they are all struggling, she still loses in a close one.
The only convincing win she has had over EITHER sister was the one over Serena in the Wimbledon final. Serena was an idiot to have underestimated her opponent.
That's what u think, Serena underestimate her opponent, Serena NEVER underestimate anyone in a GS final, Sharapova was too good, deal with it. And lol if you think Sharapova won't be able to beat WS, she has the edge over Vee on HC, can't wait another meeting, WS werelucky to lose earlier during OZ 2008.
WS are so insane, Sharapova beat Vee 3 times on HC, but you think she won't beat her again, Vee only beat Maria on grass, where Vee is the Queen, on others surface,s it change, Maria is better. About Serena vs Sharapova, it will be tough for Sharapova, no doubt, but she already eat Serena in a Slam final, sure she can do it again.
Of course, Serena hasn't been able to beat JJ(the slamless girl), but she would have crushed Sharapova who was very good during this event. You clearly insane. Deal with it, Sharapova was just too great. And Sharapova beat Venus in 2005, the same year, Venus won Wimbledon so again, you are wrong, she beat her in 2007 with a shoulder injury. Again on HC, Maria has the edge over Venus, she lead 3/0. And her game do match up against WS, she won 5 times and lost 7 times. Fair enough
it doesn't matter if she had match points. that's like saying Serena SHOULD have won their match at the YEC in 2004, because she was up 4-0 in the third set!....if you rememeber correctly, Sharapova got lucky because Serena hurt her abdomen DURING the match.
and while we're on the subject, the 2004 Wimbledon final SHOULD have been Serena vs. Lindsay, but Sharapova benefitted from that crazy rain delay that came out of nowhere...so let us not bring up rotten luck...you're gonna lose this battle.
what do you mean Serena hasn't been able to beat JJ...sVenus and Serena beaten her the last two times they played her. The last time JJ beat her was the Aussie Open Quarterfinals. The only tournaments Venus won in 2005 were Wimbledon and the small clay court tournament in Istanbul. She got to the finals of Stanford (losing to Clijsters). That was about all she did that year. Everyone who has sense knows that 2004, 2005, and 2006 have been the worst years of her career.
Well the same event, JJ beat Serena in straights, and she wasn't even playing well, how in the world can you say Serena would have crush Sharapova who was just unstoppable. Ask Henin if this Serena had a chance.lol it's too easy to say Serena had a chance just because she beat Sharapova 4 times now. Like I'm saying, if Henin didn't retire, Serena would have won nothing, because Henin in 2007 was always around to stop her. Ahahahahah
actually if you were listening, the commentators were saying that Serena was probably the only one playing BETTER tennis than Sharapova until she got to the quarterfinals.
and you're a fool to think that Justine was stopping Serena just because she's better. Serena was injured at Wimbledon and just came back from injury at the US Open. and clay is Justine's throne, so even I knew she wasn't going to stop her there because she doesn't move the same on clay since her knee injury.
But Sharapova played better tennis when it matter most, and I don't think Serena was playing better, Sharapova against Dementieva was AMAZING, dementieva lost 2606, again Sharapova was just too good. And don't get even start with injuries, because Sharapova was clearly injured in 2007, you know the year when WS took the edge over her. Anyway, you can't go back, Sharapova won without dropping 1 set, how dare you not give credit to Sharapova, after the way she won this event.
She crushed absolutely every girl who was on her way, it's not her fault if WS lost against pathetic Serbians. Sharapova DESERVES this title so far, she slapped the N1 6460, undefeated since 36 matches. She slapped Davenport, Ivanovci, Jankovic, Dementieva, how dare you? Honestly.
you're not giving credit to her opponents, so why should I give her credit?
She was injured, but she got to the final of the Aussie Open, and was STILL favored to beat Serena in the final. Yet, Serena still THWOMPED her ass 6-1 6-2...then doubled it up with a 6-1 6-1 in Miami. Injured is hitting one-handed backhands in the Quarterfinals of Wimbledon, and still taking Justine Henin to 3 sets.
And don't talk about Luck, Sharapova won her matches very fair, she fough very hard to beat Davenport and Williams, it has nothing to do with luck, trust me.
I will combine both of your comments, because I was going to bring up the Azarenka win anyway. Serena would have won that match in three sets anyway. It's unfortunate that Azarenka fell ill because it deprived us of a good match. I thought it was going to be a 3 set match with Serena winning before the match even started.
Azarenka didn't start feeling dizzy until she went down a break at the beginning of the second set. Serena raised her game.
Of course, Serena always find a way to win, oh geez you act like Serena cant even lose, Azarenka, could have beat her in straights, Serena was very lucky, admit it. And Azarenka was sick after the first set, and she had 5 breaks points in the second set, Serena didn't raise anything, you 're killing me LMAO.
oops I mixed up the replies....but as far Sharapova no it's not like her to hit that many double faults, but she didn't hit that many in her final against Serena. She hit 5 or 6. The final was one of her better serving days of that tournament (Aussie Open 2007). If someone started treating your 1st serve like a 2nd serve, you would probably be shaken up too.
and yes, I can argue from sunrise to sunset. it pisses alot of people off, but I don't care :)
since when I don't give credit to opponent, i never said what u said, you said Serena should have beat Sharapova easily but Maria was lucky Serena lose earlier during OZ, again it's like I'm saying , Serena should have lost for sure against Azarenka, whatdo u think about this win by ret.
And excuse me, but Sharapova was injured too, it's not in Sharapova's standards to hit 17 DF in ONE Match, it's seems I finally found someone who can argue as much as me lol
Serena broke her early in the 2nd. At least 2 more games were played after Serena went up a break. We didn't even see her start to get dizzy until she was serving down 4-2. Azarenka was not going to beat her in straight sets. Serena was serving terribly in the first set, and stepped it up int he second, which allowed her to get Azarenka moving on the defensive early in the point, which in turn made her realize that she was getting sick. She didn't have to work at all in the 1st set.
If it wasnt for Venus and Serena the women around today would not be as good we would still have the steffi's and the hingis's playing. Azarenka is the exact same as Sharapova.
Serena really should lead 7-0 in their head to head, seriosly injured in wimbledon and year end championships when Sharapova got lucky. At the 07 aus final Serena was the inuured one in the final, Sharapova's only inurie was the stomach cramp in round 1 i think i would know im an aussie
LOL...that's the same tourny, my friend...but yeah the tip top players have been skipping that event alot in recent years, which is why it's had some unexpected winners....even when Sharapova won it, there was really no one there to test her to her full ability....but her movement is better now, but that's something you can only improve so much on.
LoL duhhhhh i meant Pacific Life or Sony Ericsson, I'm tired haha! i gaurantee she'll win one, especially considering the way she played in Australia and Fed CUp, i think she's even a top contender for the Olympics, and Wimbledon.
well EVERYONE can be in top form and still will lose to Venus, as long as Venus shows up halfway lol....she practically growns the grass herself before the tournament starts....Serena was even lucky she swiped her in those two finals in the past.
You dont have to be thin to be fast did everyone see 07 final between Serena and Sharapova Serena outran every ball actully throught that hole grand slams she ran them all down.
No one will ever top the Williams sisters end of story.
wow she does grunt really loud.. damn

and everyone thought Sharapova was going to be a grass queen until she got THUMPED by Venus twice.
The only win Sharapova has over them while they were playing considerably well was this win right here...all the others were flukes.
Her game simply does not match up well against them....deal with it!....as long as they are playing, she will continue to barely win slams.
It's the difference between making a statement (Maria), and making history (Venus and Serena).
QuadThreat 3 years ago
LOL Had Maria had to face Serena instead of JELENA JANKOVIC in the Aussie Semis, Serena would have crushed her AGAIN.
And 2 of the 3 of Sharapova's hardcourt wins against Venus were in 2004-2005....the two worst years of Venus' career.
Everyone with a brain knows that every GS won in 2004 was lucky...they were all won by Russians, the first time ever.
What have the Russians done since 2004?...Maria's 2 other GS, and a sweep at the Olympics last year...not impressive at all.
