  • I came here because I read about it in a book called "As Easy as Falling Off the Face of the Earth". The book described it perfectly.

  • The trilogy is complete! Can't wait to see the third installment. Although I can't see it in cinema becauae I live in Australia :(

Oh well. The DVD will be awesome, I'm sure of it!

I just bought Don's other movies on DVD from his site. I saw the films online before - but I just had to own them officially. Plus it supports a true artist

  • This guy is a motherfucking genius, if only more people knew about him I cant wait for the final film to be released this fall

  • mind fuck

  • we watched this in my art class today

my two favourite quotes: "Then Bill went home and masturbated for seven hours"

and "Everyone had demon faces, and they had protruding bacteria infested crotches all over the god damned fruit"

  • @McGiggitygoo My favourite was:

"Bill suddenly noticed a dribble of urine shoot down his pant leg... it was quite unexpected. Then a fat kid with a deformed foot tried to sell him a magazine subscription. Bill glared angrily and wondered why they didn't sell any Asian porn. Then he wondered why he wondered that."

  • @McGiggitygoo Same here.

  • thats not very reassuring D:

  • Fabulous.

  • Today I watched this in English class and fell inlove with it. <3 :D

  • Whats the song called...

  • @OceanTheFreak Sound like an arrangement of Wagner's Das Rheingold overture used also in Herzog's Nosferatu.

  • @tubellarbells Its at the end of Ma Vlast, at least in the Polish National Radio Symphony performance.

  • i am really looking forward to watching the sequel now

  • Where can i get the music?

  • Just Bought "I Am So Proud of you"[the sequel to everything will be ok] and shipping takes forever. F---------------K!

  • @iamsoproudofyou Was the waiting worth ?

  • ironically enough, that was one of the most oddly stressful things to watch ive ever seen....

  • Where can you get this? Can't find the full thing on Youtube or Netflix!

  • Comment removed

  • @dustbunster95 buy it on bitter films!

  • In my top ten favorite films of all time. In my opinion, Don Hertzfeldt's masterpiece.

  • I'm gonna have to check this out.

  • How dependable!

  • Seven days.

  • Don Hertzfeldt is the filmmaker of the decade.

'Everything Will Be Ok' and 'I Am So Proud of You' easily surpass any of the films of the past ten years.

  • THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU

  • a very beautiful story...

  • finally got to see this movie and it frigging rocks! like alot of his stuff its twisted and multi layered and over all I highly recomend this to anyone who is a fan of his work.

    cheers :)

  • i am so proud of you made me misty eyed at the end

  • lol

  • @t1i1b , Your right its there LOL, for some reason i just didnt think to look at the big chains, i expected something smaller

    thanks for your help :)

  • beyond the website does anyone know if there are other places where this film can be bought?? cuz i love his work and want to own it so badly

    thanks all :)

  • @laceyschism

    Amazon?

  • Everything Will Be Okay is a great film, but IMO I Am So Proud of You is, hands down, one of the greatest films I have EVER seen, feature length and commercial or not.

    Eagerly anticipating part three.

  • Does anybody know where I can see this and "I am so proud of you?" MAN, this looks amazing...

  • Mind sharing the link to the full version?

  • Yes the second part is beautiful, but also strangely funny.

  • Post in on youtube! The whole film :( I love Don's work and i can't stand not watching more films by him. I could watch this trailer over and over!

  • The Only Funny bit is at 24 lol

  • What the ****? I love Don Hertzfeldt's films... But there aren't any other words that seem to express my reaction to that... Really, wtf?

  • someone PLEASE tell me what the name of this beautiful piece of music is!

its so gorgeous i want to cry

    i NEED to know

  • oh my god me too

  • it has been edited but it was taken from Ma Vlast, specifically Vltava. this is the last 34 seconds of that song.

  • There isn't a name; Don Hertzfeldt scored it himself, I believe.

  • The song is "Ma Vlast" and Hertzfeldt took the last minute of it and looped and reversed and layered the music.

  • Where did you read that?

  • @giascle

Don Hertzfeldt's journal on his website, plus I listened to the actual piece it ws taken from.

  • Weird that it's not credited on the site. It says the composer, but not the song.

  • He jumbled some classical music together then played it back wards. I know, I wish this was on my ipod.

  • It's not backwards. It's Smetna played forwards, "The Fatherland".

  • Correction..."My Fatherland", and Smetana.

  • @BrotherThump67 I think it's some music that Don mixed himself out of some classical piece. i'm not sure what the origional was

  • i want to see the second chapter so bad! and also can someone please tell me the name of this song its so comforting but frightening

  • the second chapter to this is also beautiful

  • this is so crazy weird in a good way -_-

  • What are you trying to say?

  • Comment removed

  • The pipe is leaking. The pipe is leaking. The pipe is leaking. The pipe is leaking.

  • "The power of christ compels you" hahaha

  • Me likes.

  • the guy below you is lasse gjerten!

  • One of the deepest and funniest animated films I've ever seen in my life.

  • I cant seem to find what's so funny. xD

  • Strange to see you commenting.

  • How do you mean strange?

  • holy gosh fuck. Lasse Gjertsen. A comment from him. Love me. This film looks awesome

  • @lassegg is this the full version?

  • @lassegg at first i laughed... when i saw it again i cried^^ how many animations can wake such emotions at the same time? not many...

  • I bought the DVDs, and two of them came yesterday <3 The only problem: I got "Bitter Films Disc One" and "I am so Proud of You" So I'm missing part one of the series XP

But I watched Meaning of Life, it was gorgeous.

  • :c lucky. Been thinking about buying "I am so Proud of you". Did you think it was a good enough sequel?

  • Yes, it was very good, though I didn't watch it until the first one came. It's not as funny as "Ok" though.

  • HAHAHA?

  • i saw the full video at the animation show and i loved it

  • Wow

  • wow, i finally got my hands on the DVD on the bitterfilms website! You can watch it without the commentary!

  • Part three of the trilogy coming up!

  • From reading these comments, I really don't know what to think about the film. Some have said it was funny. But I'm afraid to see it because the wikipedia description makes me feel like I want to cry. I'd like to see it, the sequel, and The Meaning of Life. Huh... I'm feeling kinda depressed now... 0_0

  • It's not really HA HA funny like his other works are on youtube. I would buy the DVD. Everyone seems to have a different opinion of the film. Very artsy.

  • If you see this, you will want to cry. It is really sad, but in a way that makes you relate to it. It is funny too, just not the kind of funny that you would see on south park or something. It's like, Dimitri martin funny.

  • Well, that comment was posted before I bought the DVD, and honestly, I think everyone's reaction to something like this is bound to be different. I thought some bits were very funny, and honestly it didn't depress me at all. I found the second one sadder.

  • well i saw it. it wasnt as depressing as you might think but it also wasnt as funny. parts of it were extremely depressing and parts of it were mildly funny. all i can say is something about the end almost brought tears to my eyes. its definitely something everyone should see.

  • You know, sometimes it tells a story, but it turns out it's a dead end, then he jumps on something else, and so forth. All the while it paints a caricature of Bill's slowly disintegrating life. Anyone who doubts themselves will see themselves in Bill.

  • I DON'T GET IT!!!!!!! AHHH!!!!!

  • i love the moldau ;)

  • anyone know where i can watch this?

  • i cant find this version of the song, does anyone know who the artist is? i know Wagner composed it but who is playing it?

  • Comment removed

  • well i went to the website but it was all in an asian language, probably korean or something.

  • but you didn't get to watch the video?

  • no, it didnt work. does it say at the end of the video who did this song? its not ma vlast or wagner.

  • i actually downloaded it, but thanks for going to all this trouble for me.

  • lol no problem, i guess.

  • oh never mind, i just read jebreimo's comment and he was correct.

  • What is the music?

  • ijdfafawfasf

  • it looks amazing! I want it =)

  • Of course I'm out of Ann arbor the day that this plays at the festival. I was JUST THERE!

  • Just saw this plus the "sequel" of sorts at the Ann Arbor Film Fest, do yourself a favor and get your hands on it, it's simply fantastic, one of those rare cases where the product lives up to the critical hype.

  • It's Art. And uses Dark Humor in a good way.

  • Can someone tell me where I can watch this online, please?

  • buy the DVD. it's a good film.

  • I saw this move at the 2006 Film Festival. One of the best movies I've ever seen. The best short film in my oppinion. Also one of the few DVD's I'll actually buy.

  • It's from Wagner's opera 'Das Rheingold'. It is the first excerpt titled: 'Prelude' or 'Vorspiel' in german.

  • Ah dude i think its a loop from the end of another symphony. Some guy told me that but i totally spaced what one it was. But i think the name is "fatherland" or something.

  • The movie score is a loop of Smetana's symphony 'Ma Vlast', translated as 'my fatherland'. But the music in this trailer is from Wagner's opera.

  • Don Hertzfeldt is a better animator than anyone at Pixar.

  • I would like to intervene in this comment, not to wage a Youtube war, but rather to say that it is immensely difficult to judge someones personal form of expression against anothers. Pixar has stood out as one of the most innovative and genius 3D film studios of all time because they delivered hit after hit of visually stunning and creative films while never selling out, which is much more than can be said for other 3D studios. Don Hertzfeldt holds the ethic of never selling out. He Creates.

  • I think Don's animation is nostalgic and a dark sense of humor whit a good idea of using it.

    And a title,

"Everything will be okay" even though it's a comedy, and it's based on dark a troubleing events. It fits.

Pixar is CGI. For children. And now Animation is for us young adults now.. because children just simply don't want it.

  • Pixar is not just for children.

  • I would suggest you go see the movie 'Up'.

  • Thank you.

  • what's the music used in this trailer?

  • the simple words

    beautifull and stunning

are all that can be used to describe his art

  • Comment removed

  • Where can i find this film. This guy is all the inspiriation ill ever need for my film making. His animation style with the music he uses is absolutly brilliant and stunning.

  • beautiful but dark at the same time

  • Don Hertfeldt truly shows his passion for this form of animation with everything will be okay almost if not more so than Jan Svankmajer's passion for stop motion animation in his film "dimensions of dialogue". True art.

  • Just saw the movie yesterday.

Honestly, the first minute is without a doubt the funniest thing I have ever experienced!! I have never laughed so hard. :D

  • This man has created something that is so much more than mere cartoons. This is art and what art should be defined as. This is something that was created with love and care from Don Hertzfeldt. It is very rare to find an artist that puts so much into his art for the sake of the art. It is merely incredible.

  • Beauty

  • i seriously hate it when people look at amazing animation and are unimpressed because they dont understand the work the animator puts into his work. animation is such a great thing but it is way too under appreciated.

  • Agreed. These are more than just stick figures, they are actually quite complicated and play with space just as much as any normal animated character would...

but all the copies on youtube with shitty stick guys are a disgrace.

  • I love this film so much...

  • I saw this in Chicago. And "I'm so proud of you" is even more amazing. Those of you who are going to see Don Hertzfeldt's premiere get your tickets ASAP, I was lucky enough to get to the second showing which was a full house as well.

    Yay DH!

  • Omfg! I went to the one in NYC! Did you ask questions or shake his hand? :O I loved his new movie! Boooon! Boooon! Ah yes. 1940's technology.<3

Me and my friend were the only 14 year olds there. :B He drew a banana for my friend. What a nice guy!

  • grr i just wanna find the whole thing online, i brought his last DVD but i kinda don't fancy ordering another one to just get a 10 minute movie

  • Comment removed

  • Support the artist and buy his films. He's just one guy, not a corporation.

If that makes you feel better.

  • He's one guy with a soul and creates real art, not a corporation cynically churning out cheap trash

  • It's fully worth it, way more than most 2+ hrs movies I've seen, IMHO.

I'll buy it, and I would still buy it even if it was 2 minutes long :D

  • what's the name of the movie that was before this one?

I know the next movie is called "I'm so very proud of you" or something like that.

  • The Meaning of Life, if I remember correctly

  • I wish I had the money to buy the DVD. :(

  • This is an amazing, amazing short. Part two is supposed to be hitting theaters this fall... so very excited.

I'm amazed this didn't get a best animated short nomination at the Oscars.

  • Omg yeah! I'm going to see it at the IFC center in NYC in November. Uuuggg must buy tickets before they are sold out! D:

  • I want to see the movie!!! ç_ç

  • i don't think anyone can post the full movie

  • can some one post the full movie?

  • what was all on the dvd?

  • I love this so much! The DVD WAS so worth the money. I watched it over and over again, and I think I'm a bit obsessed. xD

  • i just bought the dvd a couple days ago and i've already seen it so many times. it was so worth the money. i used to only look at his older works, but when i saw this it changed the way i think about life. don has this ability to get the mind thinking.. i dont know how he does it. i need to know what happens next in "i am so proud of you"..

  • what is it rated?

  • It's not rated, but I'd say PG-13, because even though there are no swears (except for goddamn [one time]) it is an extremely terrifying film.

  • thanks.

  • this short animated film really is a masterpiece. i love the slow-mo headbutt replay.

  • I was thrilled. It wasn't funny at all. It was extremely sad.

  • An amazing film. This seriously goes beyond what most people can even come close to imagine. I loved this film. So bizarre and wacky and surreal. Hertzfeldt is a genius. A masterpiece.

  • well you are shit for not stopping to notice a masterpiece of animation....punkass bitch.

  • you're such a jerk! you don't understand the art of animation

  • the part where he sees I LOVE YOU written in the sand "and thought that was really beautiful", that scene kinda gets me every time

  • wow...I feel...I dont even know. It was funny, but sad. I saw the whole thing just now, found it somewhere else, and by the end i didnt knwo wether to laugh or cry, i felt like it was funny but so depressing i just sat there for a minute and stared at the screen. lol best part: "the next day, bill felt better, and the day after taht, he felt alot better, then he felt alot worse *looks dead*, but th next day he felt fine." lol. That...was just amazing.

  • anyone knows where i can find it full?

  • Full piece is available at bitterfilms(dot)com/dvd.html

  • that night bill dreamt of a monstrous fish head, which fed upon his skull looool

  • I love this movie so much... Don Hertzfeldt's best yet, and that's saying a lot. Utterly hilarious and yet awful and heartbreaking all at the same time. Brilliant.

  • was that the whole film?

  • no the whole thing is about 17 minutes long and its amazing.

  • Hahahahaha this film made me laugh so hard when i was at Flickerfest everyone stared at me.

    THE PIPE IS LEAKING.

    hahah

    'Bill asked how she was.

    She didn't reply.

    Bill felt used'

  • same I saw it last night at flickerfest and I couldn't stop laughing either.

  • I don't think this is really a film to laugh at... I feel it's definatly a lot more serious than his older works. It's still brilliant, and I think it's one of his best, if not the best.

  • Hahahahaha this film made me laugh so hard when i was at Flickerfest everyone stared at me.

    THE PIPE IS LEAKING.

    hahah

    'Bill asked how she was.

    She didn't reply.

  • THE PIPE IS LEAKING.

  • I saw it at the Big Muddy Film Festival last week. It was amazing.

  • I saw this movie yesturday for the first time. I've been a Hertzfeldt fan forever, and I was excited to see it. Not only is this the best film Don ever made, but it's the most beautiful film I have ever seen in my life.

  • Saw it at projectorfest Dundee. Very cool, unsettling and awesome.
