i been going to this same dmv spot in va with my r1, the first time i tried it was horrible after 5 hours of practice i got a whole lot better. Actually, you just have to get used to doind those kinda maneuvers. Most people don't do them on a daily basis when they ride and that's why it seems so difficult.
just got my license today. this part was tricky but really if you just dont slow down to much you should have enough momentum to keep the bike upright then just lean and keep your head fixed on the next cone. pretty simple once i got going the u turn part was actually pretty tight though almost messed that up.
I've heard people can do it just fine on a Goldwing, so no. The trick is to carefully use your clutch and gas to maneuver and stay upright. Do some searched for police motorcycle rodeo and you'll see some amazing stuff.
i still dont think the test is too hard just the cone weave do you know how wide the U-Turn is under 500cc ?

It has to do more with the turning ratios of the bike too. The full lock on a sportbike is alot smaller then a Sport touring or cruiser.

Sport or cruiser, you're not hitting full lock either way. You only 'turn' the handle bars to get better radius when you lean the bike.
