Who the fuck could dislike this video? This guy is incredible, I had never heard of him until I stumbled on this video, and the first time I listened to it, I knew I had to learn the whole thing!
@cj1982 i strongly agree....when you get to that level of playing it becomes taste.....pats no better than bireli who's no better than stewart whos no better than montgomery, whos no better than django....no wait django is GOD....yeah yeah....djangos the best...
What's this bull about comparing Pat and Loius. They are both great. They have a different voice.I've said this before:What's better a Porshe or a Range Rover? It depends on the road!
ok, maybe in the "classic vocabulary" (a la montgomery) Louis is so in Martinos level, but dont forget that martino is a damn complete musician that can play straight classic jazz to absolut modern fusion check his "special door" song thats martino mastering many vocabularies to the newest sounds even today, the man is a pioneer! cheers to music!
He obviously listened to Pat. His technique is not as deep and thick as Pat's and his lines are not connected in the same way. I do think Louis is wonderful though and very engaging to listen to.

Luthier John Moriarty sets up Louis' Guitars. He has worked to Louis' requirements making compensated bridges for improved tuning. Google Archtop.ie

I think if anyone claims louis is better than pat martino, or pat martino is better than louis, is missing the point entirely.

Not to piss anyone off, but to my ear he is a better Pat Martino (Martino still being raw as hell...)

This is so amazing--reminds me of early Pat Martino from his Strings album.
