@capnbarfy I'm 44 years old and I still cry when Charlie Brown came o so close to winning but fell just short. I can relate to those type of moments of life sometimes myself
I remember watching this as a little girl on TV. I was only 7, and I remember being a disappointed with the ending. Until then I had only been exposed to the kids shows in which the hero wins and is carried out on all his friends shoulders
I kept thinking 'Why didn't he even win? How come nothing happened at the end?' It's been 8 years since I watched this: I'm crying my eyes out. Now I can appreciate the subtle, life-goes-on beauty of this ending. Amazing. Welcome home, Charlie Brown, indeed.
In a way the lesson of this movie is the Charlie Brown, an incredibly undervalued guy, was so hung up on what he considered victory he didn't look at everything he achieved along the way. In order to finish second he had to first change everyone's perception of him by beating his entire school and almost the entire country of kids in the bee. Even if he didn't win it all, thats a pretty big streak that cant be ignored. Its not that different than the lesson in Moneyball.
One of the ALL TIME greats. His true friends Snoopy and Linus. Pick him up when he is Broken A depiction of redemption and forgiveness. Charlie Brown forever.
the last time I saw this it was easter in the 80's the first movie was The Phantom tollbooth then this one and then a Man called Flintstone. Then it was the Third pink panther movie on another station.
@Hectorferjr2 excatly. Linus lost his blanket, and what happens? his world comes to an end, and he roams the streets at night looking for an old piece of cloth....even checking freaking bins for it. I tell ya, that Linus is some kind of hpyocrite....
@saintpatrick0317 .. i feel the same way.. i cried watching this. These specials always seem to get to my emotions at some point. I also cried on the "snoopy come home" song " it changes"..
Linus tells Charlie Brown that the world didn't come to an end...yet that's all he babbled when he was without his "security blanket."

A very jazzy rendition of "Charlie Brown And His Stars" runs through Linus' and Charlie's chat. Punches the scene right home!

Have you come to take me, a young girl, to go watch a movie rated for Mature Audiences only?
Good Grief no.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who cried at this. I did it when I was young and I'm doing it again today. :(

@kdreamland That's what withdrawal symptoms can do to you. Drives you to the point of desperosity, meaning you'll do anything to end those symptoms.

"The world didn't come to an end." As a kid that line always stuck with me and it seems more people could stand to keep that in mind.
