  • Fantastic and non-polluting! Inexpensive to run, and it will go up 125 miles on one compressed air charge. I'd love to own one. Thanks to the brilliant inventor.

  • @likewatchingvideos Stupid and dumb less efficient than an gasolene car with a real range of 6 miles in the only published test, an old technology with no room to improve, a long running CON that has taken millions from gullible investors

  • costs 2 bucks to air it up...RIGHT... runs it's self on it's own air..BULL.. all this and the car lasts a hole year then for another 6 grand you buy another sounds like GREEN WAIST just like most of the GREEN ideas...

  • Electric cars and compressed-air cars cost more to run, and pollute the environment more, than gasoline-powered cars.

  • @Cotronixco And how's that exactly ? Regular combustion (petroleum) car burns the combustible and the result is carbon dioxide in the air (pollutant). Now, how can an air compressed car pollute more ? Also, an electric car used in a Country like Canada (90 % hydroelectric) for example, how can it pollute more than a regular car ?

  • people build a car that looks like a normal car and has a different way of making it move other than gasoline no one will know the difference but keep it like this and it won't catch on

  • @theamericandoctor With it's 6hp engine and 5 mile range it will only ever appeal to technical illiterates with more money than sense

  • @fizzguts maybe that's why they make them look like this so that it will make it look like they tried but no one is going to want to buy it so thats all they would say

  • Just don't make your new car so freaky looking.

  • Ah, so this is why we aren't driving these already: Carbon fiber tanks, 4300 PSI. Most large industrial compressors don't even break 200PSI. :/

  • It's the way forward but it'll never catch on. How can greedy governments tax fresh air...?

  • @SpuriousEmission No, it will never catch on because it's a shit idea. And it's ugly as balls.

  • Compressed air as method of power is only really good for things like power tools in workshops. Air is not a fuel and as such has limitations with regard to the amount of stored energy and the amount of work it can continuously perform. When the air tank is full maximum force is available, as the tank drains less force is available. The stored energy in fuel and the amount of continuous force available does not change regardless of the quantity of fuel in the tank.

  • So there are two issues here. Does it save energy(or is the total cost less) as compared to cars run on fossil fuels? (I'm sure oil is not cheap from the ground to the gas station.) Can the pollution used to compress the air be diverted away from the city, or contained better?

  • @thedmf12345 at 3:39 "ready to go 125 miles for just $2 (of electricity)." Ive read an article that compared the amount of CO2 released from electricity to charge a compressed air car VS. driving a toyota Prius. turned out that the air car produced half that of the prius per mile. And if you had a solar panel on your garage, that did nothing but charged a large tank at home whenever it was sunny, you would not need batteries to store electricity and there would be no carbon released.

  • I'm no physicist, but why do people here cuss others out to make their point that it wont work to save total energy. If it won't work, and they are so smart, then just give a logical reason why it wont work. Sounds like maybe they are worried it will work? Just look at electric cars. That is old technology, what took that so long?

  • He should combine this car with regenerative brakes technology like the Prius, and have an electric engine too, just incase he air runs out.

Bye bye to gasoline - which pollutes our enviroment.

  • When is some car company is going to use this technology? I hope Tata makes use of this!

  • No engine is 100% efficient. Therefore, the amount of energy required to compress the air is more than the amount of energy available to move the car. So, the energy they used to power the motors to compress the air, they should have just applied directly to the wheels of the car - it woud have been more efficient. Ultimately, it would use less energy to make it an electric car running off an electrical grid of some sort – taking out the “middleman” which is the air compressor.

  • The sky must be a different color in the world these "inventors" live in. They don’t see the huge coal burning or nuclear powerplants at the front end, but they use the energy from them to power their “green” projects and think that, because the vehicle itself doesn’t give off emmisions, that they’ve done something miraculous. They aren’t scientists or engineers. They’re mechanics who figured out how to hook an air hose up to a piston and inefficiently power a tiny useless "car".

  • @kfumike Solar powered on board air compressors!

  • @2karriizman A 6kw compressor running for 6 hours gives this piece of crap a 5 mile range (only published actual test result) So your $40,000 worth of photo voltaic cells looks like a stupid investment. Much better to use them to recharge an electric vehicle so you don't throw away 80% of the energy.

  • Cut the crap and answer the only important question: How many kwh's needs the electrical compressor to compress enough air for 100 km driving? In other words: How high is the efficiency?

  • Sorry folks but the INSANE oil companies are suppressing this as well as any competition to there insane wealth and power !!! Here is another case in point . Paul Pantone was railroaded through a series of bizarre legal maneuvers by powerful and corrupt conspirators into a State Mental Hospital in Provo Utah where he resides today. He's supposed to be incompetent for claiming that one can fuel a car with mostly water . Google that !!!

  • @mikehanoo33

Dipshit, what have the "INSANE oil companies" to do with French engineering incompetence??? The oil companies couldnt be bothered to take on this crap, because this French not-thoght through rubbish is ridiculizing itself plenty.

  • I hope he has an on-board air compressor to refill air tanks. And regenerative brake motors to recharge batteries and other equipment. So mass produce it already.

  • How much electricity is it going to take to fill these cars at home. 3 or 4 hours to fill the tank?

Sounds like it takes more energy to fill the tank then it actually harnesses as fuel.

  • it says that the reason why its in the middle is that it can work in countries that drive on opposite sides of the road, but its useless in the middle because if you go to overtake someone how are you suppose to see around the car infront of you to see if there is another car coming????

  • ROCK!!!!!!!!!!

  • compressed air is not free. Something like gas or electric has to power the air compressor. It's still not pollution free.

    It's still just more BS.

  • Actually, lets say a wind turbine powers the air compressor.. thus leaving out the pollution.. seriously learn your facts.

  • Maybe you're right and I could eat more beans and fart in the tank too.....

Nothing is totally pollution free. You should learn the facts.

  • HOLY SHIT! LOL Never would have thought. Amazing!

  • OK uneducated was wrong how about uneducated ungrammatical stupid moron. Yes that's a better description. THE RANGE IS 7.2KM ON THE FLAT. You can walk that in about 90 minutes for ucks sake, an electric bicycle would own it, be cheaper, faster and USE MUCH MUCH LESS ENERGY.

    Google rexresearch negre. FACTS OK?

The world is full of morons and a lot of them think air cars are a good idea because they are STUPID.

Now did that make it clear?

  • Comment removed

  • Nope My numbers for distance on compressed air alone are correct and ZPM the USA licensee is admitting as much

Google "vencat 20 miles" for the whole catastrophe.

  • Comment removed

  • FACTS MDI (France) = Eolo (Italy) = ZPM (Vencat USA) = E.volution (South Africa) = ITMDI (Australia) All he same technology just licensed. NO CARS EVER SOLD NO CARS EVER INDEPENDANTLY TESTED. And for the licences NO CARS BUILT EVER Please provide a link to any independent air car tests any where that show results better than 7.2km. Hello Gone quiet Sigh

  • Passive? Hell no!!

    Aggressive? Hell yes!!

Nice to see you running away having been proved a fantasy living silly child.

Is that aggressive enough for you?

    Bwahahahaha

Come back with facts otherwise come back and have the piss taken out of you. It's a free service. LOL

  • Unfortunately, it does seems a bit too good to be true. Do some research on air compressed cars and the results they've achieved have been less than spectacular.

  • I can't understand why everyone want to wait an criticize, and why no one has tried to improve this system and fix the problems. No constructor (except MATA) has tried to join.. maybe you could ask yourself why? Maybe the idea of saving the world from pollution and climatic changes is much easier and profitable keeping it only an idea...

  • Hahaha ... how brain amputated one has to be to think that this shitty compressed air stupidity solves any energy problem??? Ah, because this shit doesn't emit CO2 when driving??? Ah, and who or what compresses the air??? Really, how brain amputated one needs to be.

And please, this shit is certainly no 'new technology' or "smart invention", but the latest rubbish from France that does not work. Please, Frenchies, do us a favor and cultivate wine!

  • If I was living in a city where where skyscrapers are obscured by smog every morning, I would keep my mouth shut about pollution. But I'm sure you don't.

  • the thing is hows the crash test on this thing?

  • Although MDI keeps saying that they are going into production "real soon now", apparently they have never attempted to do any crash testing or any other sort of certification or homologation.

One of many reasons to be sceptical.

  • Hahaha ... why interested in crash test??? For a crash this car first needs to reach a certain minimum speed. Hahahahaha

  • lol true true... but they could have a car hit it instead. good point though lol

  • It will never go in the USA it has no air bags no Antilock brakes all the bull shit that the US car manufac will make it have,it will be too heavy

  • If history repeats itself, this car will never go on sale anywhere in the world.

Even after claiming "production next year" almost every year since 2000, MDI has never delivered a single vehicle.

They have build many pretty looking prototypes but MDI does not let auto magazines or other independent parties road test their cars.

A sceptic might think that this is because MDI cannot meet the performance they have been claiming for many years.

  • oh my good charlietube.... you really know how to make it look like possitive things become negative things. DUDE!! This car might save the whole world... be thankful instead of complaining all tghe time!!!

  • dom3nix, I have some really nice land in Florida that I'd like to sell you. Beautiful waterfront property, close to nature, no neighbors nearby. Of course, it is swampland that is 5' underwater, but we should look at the positives, not the negatives.

  • you are so missing the point!

  • Quote "DUDE!! This car might save the whole world."

Glad you said MIGHT. Let us explain. IT"S A CON that has NO way of doing better than about 7.2klm at 30kph. Which translates to BLOODY AWFUL. But hey if you so sure send them money LOTS of money they've been taking it from rubes for 20 years

  • oh well look at mr fizz all mighty, sounds like another complainer, that´s all there is nowadays =/, it´s a sad fact..

  • Oh well look at Mr dom3nix sounds like the typical uneducated believe any fairy tale as long as the lie is big enough, woo woo. That's who mostly comment on youtube it's a sad fact

  • These cars are in the same place as the e.Volution air car announced in 2000 by Zero Pollution Motors and MDI, with production to start in 2002.

These cars are in the same place as the Eolo car that MDI said would be in production in 2003.

Vaporware. Never ever delivered a single car.

Compressed air doesn't hold very much energy for a given size and weight. The MDI prototype car could not even go 5 miles before running out of air. That's why it's never been built.

  • EXCELLENT! Where are these cars? They should've been released & on all our roads ages ago. The bastards controlling the entire world will do whatever they possibly can to keep this technology a secret or unattainable - they'd far rather engage in wars over oil & pollute our planet further.

  • Hey Guys saw your Video and all I can say is that I Live in Los Angeles and our air here Sucks and our Government is wack all they think about is about themselves which is pretty selfish Im In the process of becomming a Photovoltaics Installer we have talked about compressed air cars and How can I get a hold of one from you guys so I can Promote your Invention here In the dirty air L.A this would be everyones solution here trust me .

  • MUY BUENO

    TABARATO

  • This piece of technology is a simple answer too the question of when. All things that we deal with from day to day stem from what we expect. This car fits into the category of unexpected. Maybe it could be compared to a shared reaction to a friends haircut. The haircut maybe needed, but we seem to always be startled by how it looks, and may raise these questions; Does his head have the cushion he will need if he falls down? Will he be recognized when he gets home?

  • If steam could drive a locomotive then why can't compressed air easily drive a piston engine?

  • yes, stupid dipshit, of course steam can drive a locomotive, and also compressed air can drive a car (which is, btw, nothing new!!!!!!!), but both methods of creation motion a highly inefficient, both in economic and more importantly (that is the reason why this guys claims to build this shitty soapbox) in ecological terms!! That's why people started building internal CEs that burn only as much fuel as necessary for one stroke!!

  • Shanghaijoachim, calling me names does not impress me. You make wild statements with no factual support. This car is going to market in the EU prior to marketing in the USA. We will see how it works in the EU and then we will see if you are right or wrong.

  • Without factual support?? You just don't know anything! But my mistake why do I expect youtube people to have an intelligent conversation and have build it on an argument logically. I give a sh%^&t where the car is marketed first. It is not GREEN and ECOOLOGICAL. It pollutes the environment more than conventional cars (but who am I talking to?? how do I expect an ape to understand any logic??)

  • Ah yes insult me and that is suppose to make your point. You don't give one fact to support your comments. I'm only asking you to prove your statements. I'm not saying that you are wrong or right I simply ask you to logically and calmly support your statements with at least some factual foundation. Can you do that?

  • no, sufficient arguments and facts are given. If you are interested, then read! Otherwise, don't bother me!

  • I'm sorry but you haven't given even one factual statement thus far. Remember that you opinion is not a fact it is only your opinion. I'm asking you to support your opinion with fact.

  • OMG, I have to begin with Adam and Eve. Due to thermodynamical effects you lose around 50 percent of the energy while compressing air, because isothermic (= the temperature being constant) is only a theoretic option. In general, there is no natural process where you can transform one form of energy in another one without losses of energy. Try to use a air pump to inflate the tire of your bike, you will feel a heat at your pump. This is because pressurization of a medium,...

  • here the air of your tire, leads to an increase in temperature. This heat will be lost. This is why you lose energy and this why this stupid compressed air car needs in total more energy than a comparable conventional car!. As you claimed to me that you r not stupid, then you ll be able to tell me where the energy comes from to compress air, and for what possible reason one could expect the amount of energy anything less than what you get out of it. Alone, that nobody here ask these questions!

  • shanghaijoachim, The compressed air comes from the air tanks that are filled by a compressor that runs on electricity. Therefore you should or could fill those tanks at home with an air compressor. By heating the air it then expands and during a long journey you would need to heat the air to expand it and go further. That of course would require a small electric or gas motor to heat the gas. However on short journeys one would not need a dual arrangement to operate the car. A novel idea.

  • My concerns are with the ability of the electric grid to support the increased demands. Also this car sounds very loud. After all noise is a type of pollution. Btw I meant to say "heat the air" in the prior note.

  • The cool thing about gasoline is that it packs a lot of energy. The problem is that in a normal engine 90% of the energy is wasted as heat. And that is just the energy wasted in the car, not taking into account the energy used to pump the oil out of the ground, trasporting it to the refinery, transporting it to the gas station and pumping it into the car.

So 50 percent (while innacurate) would still be way more energy efficient than 90%

  • one fact which I stated several is that you need more energy to power this compressed air car, which makes not ecological unfriendly to a conventional car.

But that's not your point! Your point is to try to make a point based on false logic. This perfectly works out here, as we are among apes, but not among intelligent people!

  • Shanghaijoachim, how do you account for these cars running down the road in other videos? I'm only asking questions. I'm not trying to embarrass you.

  • ... hahahahah!!!! You are asking me if I "found evidence" in other videos!!!???? And you are complaining that I call you wreckingly stupid???!!! Hahahahaha ... really, I don't find any words. hahaha. You never could emberass me, anyways, you already are embarrassing yourself completely!!!! Science and human knowledge progresses slightly differently than through watching youtube videos!! Hahahahahah

  • That is the most thing I heard for long! "produces zero emissions" "blow the car market away" ... hahaha ... that s something which only can be said and done by French and believed and sold to the Gringos!! First of all, it is NOT zero emissions, as you somewhere need to compress the air. Ok, if you want to have the air pollution out of the city, then use electric cars (equally stupid from an ecolo and ecnomic point of view), but at least the CO2 is not emitted where it is driven!

  • I'd love to buy one! This will be on the market in your part of the world by next year. I'm already on the waiting list for when it comes to the USA. By the way, what do you have against the French?

  • Nothing against the French! Lovely people, very humorous, funny and enjoyable, but they really shouldn't build cars. Well, at least telling everybody that a car that uses more energy than a conventional car, a car that is shitty, has not performance, no safety, no comfort, no whatsoever ... to call this car ecologically friendly. Hahahahhahaha ... why do you think they start marketing the car in the US??? Hihihih ... because they know they will find enough stupid people to believe that. Hahahah

  • The French engineer Cugnot was the first person build a first self-propelled mechanical vehicle. Also, Renault has had a litany of automobile innovations like one of the first very popluar front wheel drive cars for the masses, the legendary 2CV. As for America, a country which only produces 1/3 of its own oil should not be indulging in horsepower fetishism. Small cars powered by compressed air, natural gas or electric are at this juncture the only viable option. In other words, early days.

  • 2CV ... do I have to say anything else?? "Small cars powered by compressed air, natural gas or electric are at this juncture the only viable option." Natural gas is a good one, but a derivative of fossil fuels. What sound argument do you have for compressed air or electric cars. They are RUBBISH, because in the end you need MORE energy, more CO2 than with conventional cars (you may say differently, but it is simply WRONG!).

  • French! Do I have to say anything more????? Clean, zero emission energy???? Yes, that is probably something you can tell to the Gringos in the United States of Stupidity!! Where do you stupid fucks think the energy comes from to compress the air??? You have a massive loss of eenergy in between anyhow. To use a ICE to compress air that drives the car!! Please, France. Leave the engineering to somebody else. Promises to drink your wines!!

  • Did you hear SOLAR, WIND or Hidroelectric Energy?

  • Leave it to the French to provide America with one of the best hopes to ameliorate their addiction to foreign oil. It just goes to prove that America's love affair with the French has a ethereal perspicacity at its heart.

  • There is a high willingness to change the direction, even a feverish desire to find solutions, but why to give any credit to bullshitters???????

  • of course, this shit can work, but it is less efficient, less safe, less powerful, less anything, and most importantly it is less ecofriendly. And top of it, it is more expensive (based on the main features this car offers) than any conventional car. So, in sum .... COMPLETE RUBBISH!

  • Excellent vid thanks.
