@pcbsocialmediaarts maybe you don't have kids--these kids have plenty plenty plenty of time to learn the game!! when its all done, i will have put 4 boys thru baseball and what the coaches are doing is just fine. the ages 8 thru 12 are the important years to learn all the rules,techniques,mechanics of the game. I actually admire the kid's determination to not be put out. unfortunately at that age, the coaches are more likely to give improper instruction, you know, the "elbow up" kind of thing.

Yeah, it is coach pitch so most rules get ignored. He may get called out the moment he went halfway to 2B. But, unless it is that bad, no out gets recorded for the 3 ft rule. The only rules used are Out/Safe and that is pretty much it.

Part of umpiring is knowing the level of play. And, at this level, he isn't out until tagged or on a force play.
