Lost Odessey is the most memorable game ever! Old school turn-based jrpg mixed with drama, comedy, orchestrated bgm and the thousand years of dreams worth reading over and over and over again. Typical rpg game such as this game is a gem! 91 hours of adventure in Lost Odessey is surely worth remembering like Final Fantasy VII to Final Fantasy XII. Second playthru is imminent.
this guy is horrible at giving a review. Just like most people at IGN
1. load screens are not that bad. they do come in a lot but they dont last 30 secs. more like 3 - 4.
2. the story doesn`t take long to build up. every mission you do, (besides side quests) has something to do with the story. thats what makes a good story. this guy is just impatient.
3. people don`t need to know how to play the game, they just need to know what makes it good and what makes it bad.

LO is such an underrated masterpiece. I give it a 9.7, only because I don't give out 10s. The biggest complaint gamers have is the turn-based battle system but I honestly don't see why a game should lose points for that. That's like me giving Call of Duty a 6 simply because I don't enjoy running around, aiming at people and pressing the shoot button. @mengAlexandervang well it would've been a lot better without 1. Level Cap 2. Random Battles (especially when solving puzzles) and 3. The slowness of the battles.
If you enjoy faster battles then fair enough, but in defense of what that person was saying, you can look at any of the great FF games from the past and those also have random/slow battle systems, yet, they all are rated much, much higher. Bottom line is, this game is just as great but, unfortunately for LO, gamers have changed too much nowadays. I grew up during the golden RPG era playing turn-based games so, for me, LO is about as perfect as it gets.
@DivineAria Who says I dont like turn-based? I love the old ffs, it's just this one took way too long to even attack. I feel like it took everything that made turn based reasonable and threw it out the window. Why would you want a level cap? They took grinding out of an rpg, that's pretty bad. And it eventually got to the point of spamming magic, item, repeat. It just isn't as amazing as everyone says it is. Other rpgs are at least fast enough and linear enough to support random battles.
People complain about the amount of grinding needed in RPGs and now you're complaining about not being able to? This game isn't so much about grinding as it is about using specific tactics. The only real difference in the battle system between this one and, say, FF7 is that you choose everyone's attack first before they start carrying out their actions. And, honestly, I have no idea what you mean by "spamming" as item usage and magic usage are essentially all the same.
@DivineAria I'm sorry but whoever complains about grinding is not an rpg player lol. And yes I know it's about specific tactics but they took away things that made turn based better, like leveling. ff7 was way faster and you could have your level where you wanted it to be. And spamming magic is when you only use moves that take up mp and then using an item. I did that for literally half the game.
Guess you just can't please everyone. In LO, you choose the action for all the characters first before they start doing anything. It is a little slower but requires far more tactic because, by choosing all your actions before carrying them out, you're more blind to the enemies' actions. LO's magic system is designed so that magic is equally important in defeating your enemies. Again, we're talking about tactics. There's not as much spamming of the attack button like in FF7.
@DivineAria I've played lo. I've gotten to disc 4. However the battles got so annoying when you had to solve puzzles and your level was capped. Made battles pointless and I fled everytime.
wot an aesome game, epic story, just like ff7-10 which i love, but wot do ya expect it had hironobu sakaguchi at the helm, unlike ff13 which i felt woz too linear and rubbish story, nothing but graphics
once u have started there is no turning back. a little 10 year old girl was raped and murderded in 1945. her body was not found until 1947.then a boy last week read this and did not copy and paste this message.the dead girl appeared in his room haunting him and killed him.if you do not copy and paste this onto 10 vidoes in 30 minutes the dead girl will apear in your room tonight and haunt you and kill you. well you better start to copy and past
@gannacto In the very beginning, Kaim, the hero, survives the lava flow of an active volcano. So it makes perfect sense that he can be killed by an electric worm or some random robot.
@heedtheninja67 load times are reduced considerably if you install the game to your hdd which is particularly useful as load times for battles do take about 10secs to load if it is not installed
if this was released on ps3 it may have been successful. a shame that such a good game doesnt have sales to match its quality, but then again what were mistwalker expecting releasing a jrpg exclusively on xbox. it was gonna fail before it even launched
never been a fan of turn base RPG the last turn base RPG i beat was the legend of dragons on the ps1 back in 2001 and i still coulden't beat it with my skills i cheated! using a gameshark i am more of an action RPG fantic but i agree turn base is more challenging and more fun.
@ssjanime250 -__- don't we all.....? man they sure did mess up final fantasy. I'm young but had played them all and i missed the style they used. I love final fantasy 10 why don't they bring that style back?
YOU FUCKING DARE CALL OBLIVION OUTDATED? years after it came out millions of people still play it because it is one of the most epic games out there. and now with skyrim coming out it is getting a little outdated but that is more or less the reason that many people have started playing it again while waiting for skyrim to come out.
what you just said applys only to young and pretentious pricks. also many ps3 gamers are the same.
what games you like arent based on your console. you chose your console on the basis of : price , whether your friends have it too for chatting and multiplayer, and lastly based on the exclusive games on those consoles. i have an xbox. and i miss good old ratchet& clank . however i now enjoy playing other games. like halo for example :P and i still have my good ol ps2
I bought this game recently, and I dont regret it for a moment. A great JRPG, and while the story is cliche, its the characters, the combat and the visuals that give it that extra strength.
what was wrong with that review??..... ok i didnt notice bad load times while playing but honestly it was right with everything else.
its 'cool' to hate on ign these days.... that review was fucking fine; its ok, but not amazing, if you like JRPGs, check it out..... thats exactly what id say to anyone.
i will agree that i dont like the general distain for JRPGs you can see that most reviewers seem to have; they consider them dated right off the bat, but this review is fine.
@redbuck82 tales of vesperia is a very fun game, it has loads of replayability ive beaten it about 4 times now, the characters are also very good and the fighting style is WIN, i think you should try it, but i suppose i am pretty biased when it comes to tales games since they are my favourite :)
this reviewer sucks donkey doo doo. Lost Odyssey is awesome. If the reviewer can write, produce, direct, edit, market, sell, make music, do the voice talent work, blah blah blah....and do all the technical stuff it takes to create a video game and get it into my hands so that I can play it.... i'll be impressed. But if he cant do any of these things, im not listening to him. I'm just gonna enjoy the game, and say thank you to all the people who worked on it so that I can play it. THANK YOU!! =)
How could you not even mention the Thousand Years of Dreams? It was one of my favorite parts of this game, it gave a lot of depth and helped to define Kaim.
"A bit outdated", I don't know what that means, but I've yet to find a good rpg on new gen consoles with a good story, and this one seems to go in that direction, I mean really, I miss the old FFs, games like the Shadow Heats series, etc.
@bravo075 Exactly bro......Todays "RPG" games seem to go in the direction of more western type or straight up MMO. Most of which lack any in depth story and just throw the player in a wide open world. As a JRPG lover it saddens me the lack of these great games. We went from an era where great RPG's would emerge every few months to an era where %90 crap is all you get. They hype a game to no end and then give us games like White Knight Chronicles Lol. SUCKS
@lamiac2411 I could not have said it better, for example, take FFXII, it's not a bad game, but it's not a FF, I beat it, and at the end I did not care for the characters, there wasn't much of a story, and yes, as you said it was an MMO game with a misleading title. And FFXIII (haven't beat it) is really way to linear, but at least the character development part was improved a bit. P.S. If you happen to know a good JRPG game for PS3 let me know.
@bravo075 Ya I beat 12 a long time ago and thought it was shit compared to masterpeices like ff6-7-8-9.......I just beat it to beat it. Now 13 I played a couple hours on launch day after I pre ordered it and got so pissed at the linearity of it all I threw it across my living room Lol. Don't judge I was angry. I just recently picked 13 back up after realizing there were no good jrpg games anymore. Now that I'm further into the game it seems to open up and become a pretty good play.
@bravo075 For PS3 try the star ocean series that game is pretty damn good. I believe PSN also just put out a remake of ff4(the psp version) which is VERY GOOD:) You have ff4 as well as 2 new parts to it all in 1 game. Give that a shot if u have not already u won't be dissapointed.
@lamiac2411 I will check that out, I never did finish "Till the end of time". BTW, Resonance of Fate is turning out pretty good, I just got in in a desperate attempt at getting a good JRPG, and for the moment it's been pleasing (let's just hope I don't throw it out the window) and as for FFXIII, well I guess we'll just have to bear the linearity, at least it's not like that horrible XII.
First disc is great but then they force you to take children in your party... What's the deal with Japan and little kids ? Scratch that, I don't wanna know. I was hooked at first but then it became so damn corny.
It's as if one writer said: "Let's make an emotional story with great graphics and fantastic voice acting." Then another one decided: "We should add a generic villain, annoying kids and a very slow battle system to make sure the japanophiles don't get too scared by originality"
i have a feeling they think that jrpgs are generally awful. i prefer them, thank you very much. sometimes people dont want a story they can influence to an enormous degree, as theyre only going to play the 50hr story once through, not like 47 times to get all the endings.
This is the worst fucking piece of shit turn based, god I just cant belive I wasted my fucking money on this I'm just so fucking pissed. Like who the fuck plays turn bassed dude? How is that fucking fun HOW IS THAT FUCKING FUCKING COCK SUCKING SHIT GAME FUCK
Actually I should say him.. (Hideo Kojima) & Sakaguchi (Old FF creator & true heart of Squaresoft when they were called that).. Cuz I'm playing through Lost Oddyseey now & thats blowing me away as an HD jrpg in this sad era of rpg videogames. These guys have It RIGHT.. old made new again..progression.. long journey..depth..risk taking banking on quality for your profit instead of an online or mmo component!. Maaaann It's a shame to see this hobby now, you true gamers gotta feel me. LO2 PLZ!
hey guys i need to decide whether or not to buy final fantasy XIII or lost odyssey, not enough cash for both... i havent played rpgs in a while but i loved final fantasy 7,8,9 which do you reckon i should get??
@Theocl Lost Odyssey should be about $10 if you know where to look (even Gamestop). Anyway, as a fan of old school Final Fantasy, I say grab Lost Odyssey--surprising since this is a LO Review, huh? But FF13 was probably my biggest disappointment this gen. LO was one of my biggest surprises. It's the best JRPG I've played since FFX in 2001. I think FF13 is pretty cheap these days, too--and it looks stunning. It's just not on LO's level.
@Theocl Well after playing both, Lost Odyssey takes the cake. That's MY recommendation. FF13 has a component system as well like this one with the ring assembly, but it's not as easy to use as LO makes it. The fighting in both games is flashy, but FF13 has better visuals overall, but that isn't saying LO doesn't look good. Loading is NOT as bad as this guy makes it out to be. Yes there are load screens, but no waiting 30 secs for a fight lol. Overall though, I'd go with LO, and it's cheap
@Theocl Both are great, Lost Odyssey is more traditional, but it's very deep, dark, mature, and emotional than most. FF 13 is very unique, with great characters, cool leveling system, great story, and a kickass battle system. It all depends on what you're looking for.
@Theocl I thought FF13 was ok, but I definitely enjoyed Lost Odyssey more. I got it when it first came out and loved it! Just got it again yesterday and it was 16.99 pre-owned.
@ZygoInferior that and more, there are little books or memories that you find along the way and they are soooooo awesome, dis game is so worth buying, believe me i'm an rpg harcore gamer.
I absolutely love this game. I am currently on the 3rd disc and I have loved every minute of it. If you are a fan of the older Final Fantasy games then you will love this one. Everything about it....from the gameplay...story....and music is totally awesome. I can't believe I only just started playing it recently. I haven't been hooked on a RPG in a looooong time. I will be sad when I beat it :(
The fact that the game was produced by Sakaguchi and Nobuo Uematsu composed the music is...OMG <3
I also wish this game had been ported to the PS3, imagine if it had, there would be no need to juggle between 4 discs! And the load times may have been reduced as well!
damm really good review. and its like HILARY *jiggle* said *its ablast from the past* but its also outdated, so dont get angry with the score. i love this game but its just a oldschool jrpgs with very good grafics nothing more. so just face it FF13 is better than this because its different from the old jrpg style.
He says "thirty second load screen" and then shows maybe a five second load screen to illustrate his point? Anyway, I played this game a while back and while I did install it to the HDD (an option not available when this game launched), I didn't notice a single technical hiccup.
I think that this game was a victim of people's FF13 expectations. If it was released today, it would score a lot higher. This game delivers!!
ign's reviews are so predictable. wen a fps comes out its usually over 9 like most of the call of duties. and wen a japanese rpg comes out chances are they're around 8.5. Like most of the dynasty warriors were given a rating below 8 and those games are fucking fun.
The problem is people pay too much attention to scores. Yes this game got 8.2, a slightly above average score.
But the last words spoken by the reviewer were "If you like japanese RPG's, go ahead and pick up this game". If you guys paid attention to what the reviewer said, rather than the score, you probably wouldn't hate this review so much.
Scores need to be a representation of how this game will appeal to ALL gamers. Words can explain how a game may be great for some gamers, bad for others.
I really find it annoying when every goddamn reviewer for JRPGs always says "Yeah it your typical JRPG story" id like to know how many JRPGS they have played that has the same story as Lost Odyssey. Stop talking shit and play the fucking game before you review it.
...and i hate how these reviewers over-exaggerate the times. 20-30 seconds??? dude, that was like 6. and the battles are even less. sometimes i think people's perception of time is WAY off -_-
@TLIisawesome umm i doubt hes going to make you watch a 30 sec load screen...he only has but so much time for the review and having you watch a 30 second load screen to prove a point would be rather pointLESS...and that would be counter-productive. =P
@TLIisawesome The guy says one thing bad about a game, you people go crazy. And that was just for the video review. They arent going to show you a 20 second load screen.
@TLIisawesome what happened is the reviewers got their screener disks before they optimized load times, so while they had to face 20-30 second load times and review based on that, the retail version made sure players only suffered a short amount of time. not only that, but if you have a hard drive, can't you install the game to avoid this shit? i'm just guessing.
I just couldnt get into this game. The storyline was confusing and different. I didnt like the battle system strictly becaus of the white ring thing. However i must say the artwork was compeling i loved the views of everything! I also like the fact of having 5 people in a battle party...but i just couldnt get into it.
i wanna get this game, and it looks alot like arc the lad(the first one) for ps2. i loved that game, i put like 50+ hours into it, is it anything like this?
@kooki3m0n5t3r ahhhh shii pro i remember arc the lad, thats a epic game, ff and odesy is different from this tho, arc and odessey are both rpg but different gameplay
They really need to have a reviewer for each general genre of games, whether it be rpg, fps, or rts they need different reviewers. That would make the scoring system much more accurate and reliable.
The opening sequence was pretty cool and the dark atmosphere when you walked around the battle field when you first control Kaim was awesome. Reach the Capital and it goes down hill from there.
The game would have been WAY better if the two stupid kids were replaced with something else. Better yet, have them die in the snow storm or after you catch up to there train that they jacked just so they can 'talk' to their DEAD mother...! It was teeth grinding listening to their excuse....
@Cal1c0cat Why do jrpgs always have to have 2 little kids? And annoying little kids at that, if they werent crying about their dead mother, they were getting into trouble trying to see her in some stupid mystical way. Gongora should of raped some sense into them, because goddam they slow the story down. Also mack is a giant pussy
I bought this game preeowned today, it has some minor scratches but works exellent...but there is 4 disc ?...I really dont know how patient I am to complete the game.
game has amazing storyline, and has one of the first villians I find very attractive , love you Gongora <3
but the battle system bored the hell out of me and true plot took a while to be fleshed out
it be nice if they re-released it on PS3 with extra content like they did with alot of JRPG exclusive for 360 but I think that'd just piss off the few 360 gamers that are JRPGs fans lol
tho if you like old school JRPGs with a modern feel to them, then you'll like this game
The reviewer fails to mention the best part of the game, memory hunting! Those short stories are at times incredibly sad but fascinating at the same time and extremely well written! The battle system is more challenging than FFX which means you do actually need to pay attention and I believe when you play it you may need a guide cause if you skip over some events you might not be able to go back. Its a really engaging game ^_^
I loved the heck out of this game. I highly recommend it to anyone who's even a slight fan of RPGs. The intro kinda goes on for about an hour but aside from that it's a very good game.
Though the very start is actually pretty good and actiony so it grabs your attention pretty well.
Is this game available on PS3? I played it for a couple of hours on my stepbrother's xbox and loved it! But this is the first game I've seen that made me want to play xbox, and I couldn't justify the purchase of a new console for one game, it'd be nice but I can't throw the money at it.
I don't understand why people were so offended about the traditional battle system. Why fix something that isn't broken?! The combat system is engaging. I'm making my friend play LO right now and he still has trouble figuring out what to do sometimes. It's not as easy as FFX was at least!!!! People bitch about not being able to level grind, well there are 2 separate places to do that if you really want to. The point was to make the game CHALLENGING. Oh, but people need an easy game nowadays >_<
this deserves a 10 out of 10, dont listen to the guy when he says the story is "ok" because its a HUGE understatement, this is definetaly a must play if ur into games like final fantasy. this game is up there with FFX and FF7 no doubt.
The game is just an amalgamation of JRPG-cliches, all the generic JRPG archetypal-personalities are present, the turn-based battle-system is uninspiring, albeit strategically deep - thankfully it isn't just button-mashing. Also, the level-design is too linear, there's not enough exploration, towns and villages are redundant, with nothing interesting to do to keep you occupied in-between fights and progressing the story. Oh, and those poems were awful - perhaps they were just lost in translation.
@CHIPSTERO7 Wow, this is the first game since Final Fantasy VII that had me completely engrossed in it. Those stories you say were horrible were written by an extremely renowned writer named Kiyoshi Shigematsu, and they were translated by a famous Professor from Harvard, who at first refused to contribute to a violent video game until he read the stories and could not believe the amazing messages they got across. It is really deep writing though and it takes a great understanding to grasp it.

if this was released on ps3 it may have been successful. a shame that such a good game doesnt have sales to match its quality, but then again what were mistwalker expecting releasing a jrpg exclusively on xbox. it was gonna fail before it even launched

never been a fan of turn base RPG the last turn base RPG i beat was the legend of dragons on the ps1 back in 2001 and i still coulden't beat it with my skills i cheated! using a gameshark i am more of an action RPG fantic but i agree turn base is more challenging and more fun.

this game looks so much like ff10. i wish final fantasy would use this old system again rather than come up with new battle systems.

@ssjanime250 -__- don't we all.....? man they sure did mess up final fantasy. I'm young but had played them all and i missed the style they used. I love final fantasy 10 why don't they bring that style back?

YOU FUCKING DARE CALL OBLIVION OUTDATED? years after it came out millions of people still play it because it is one of the most epic games out there. and now with skyrim coming out it is getting a little outdated but that is more or less the reason that many people have started playing it again while waiting for skyrim to come out.

what you just said applys only to young and pretentious pricks. also many ps3 gamers are the same.
what games you like arent based on your console. you chose your console on the basis of : price , whether your friends have it too for chatting and multiplayer, and lastly based on the exclusive games on those consoles. i have an xbox. and i miss good old ratchet& clank . however i now enjoy playing other games. like halo for example :P and i still have my good ol ps2

i will agree that i dont like the general distain for JRPGs you can see that most reviewers seem to have; they consider them dated right off the bat, but this review is fine.

THANK YOU!! =)

"A bit outdated", I don't know what that means, but I've yet to find a good rpg on new gen consoles with a good story, and this one seems to go in that direction, I mean really, I miss the old FFs, games like the Shadow Heats series, etc.
bravo075 7 months ago
@bravo075 Exactly bro......Todays "RPG" games seem to go in the direction of more western type or straight up MMO. Most of which lack any in depth story and just throw the player in a wide open world. As a JRPG lover it saddens me the lack of these great games. We went from an era where great RPG's would emerge every few months to an era where %90 crap is all you get. They hype a game to no end and then give us games like White Knight Chronicles Lol. SUCKS
lamiac2411 7 months ago
@lamiac2411 I could not have said it better, for example, take FFXII, it's not a bad game, but it's not a FF, I beat it, and at the end I did not care for the characters, there wasn't much of a story, and yes, as you said it was an MMO game with a misleading title. And FFXIII (haven't beat it) is really way to linear, but at least the character development part was improved a bit. P.S. If you happen to know a good JRPG game for PS3 let me know.
bravo075 7 months ago
@bravo075 Ya I beat 12 a long time ago and thought it was shit compared to masterpeices like ff6-7-8-9.......I just beat it to beat it. Now 13 I played a couple hours on launch day after I pre ordered it and got so pissed at the linearity of it all I threw it across my living room Lol. Don't judge I was angry. I just recently picked 13 back up after realizing there were no good jrpg games anymore. Now that I'm further into the game it seems to open up and become a pretty good play.
lamiac2411 7 months ago
@bravo075 For PS3 try the star ocean series that game is pretty damn good. I believe PSN also just put out a remake of ff4(the psp version) which is VERY GOOD:) You have ff4 as well as 2 new parts to it all in 1 game. Give that a shot if u have not already u won't be dissapointed.
lamiac2411 7 months ago
@lamiac2411 I will check that out, I never did finish "Till the end of time". BTW, Resonance of Fate is turning out pretty good, I just got in in a desperate attempt at getting a good JRPG, and for the moment it's been pleasing (let's just hope I don't throw it out the window) and as for FFXIII, well I guess we'll just have to bear the linearity, at least it's not like that horrible XII.
bravo075 7 months ago
First disc is great but then they force you to take children in your party... What's the deal with Japan and little kids ? Scratch that, I don't wanna know. I was hooked at first but then it became so damn corny.
It's as if one writer said: "Let's make an emotional story with great graphics and fantastic voice acting." Then another one decided: "We should add a generic villain, annoying kids and a very slow battle system to make sure the japanophiles don't get too scared by originality"

hey guys i need to decide whether or not to buy final fantasy XIII or lost odyssey, not enough cash for both... i havent played rpgs in a while but i loved final fantasy 7,8,9 which do you reckon i should get??
Theocl 8 months ago
@Theocl Lost Odyssey should be about $10 if you know where to look (even Gamestop). Anyway, as a fan of old school Final Fantasy, I say grab Lost Odyssey--surprising since this is a LO Review, huh? But FF13 was probably my biggest disappointment this gen. LO was one of my biggest surprises. It's the best JRPG I've played since FFX in 2001. I think FF13 is pretty cheap these days, too--and it looks stunning. It's just not on LO's level.
d21lewis 8 months ago
@d21lewis Yeah FF13 didn't keep my attention like LO did. The story is just so gripping and emotional.

@Theocl If you prefer FF 7,8,9 you'll like Lost odyssey. If you prefer FF X you'll like FFXIII
1AaroUin 8 months ago
@1AaroUin That is not true! I liked X the most probably but I like LO more than XIII.
UndercoverCracker 8 months ago
@Theocl Well after playing both, Lost Odyssey takes the cake. That's MY recommendation. FF13 has a component system as well like this one with the ring assembly, but it's not as easy to use as LO makes it. The fighting in both games is flashy, but FF13 has better visuals overall, but that isn't saying LO doesn't look good. Loading is NOT as bad as this guy makes it out to be. Yes there are load screens, but no waiting 30 secs for a fight lol. Overall though, I'd go with LO, and it's cheap
daowsley 8 months ago
@Theocl Both are great, Lost Odyssey is more traditional, but it's very deep, dark, mature, and emotional than most. FF 13 is very unique, with great characters, cool leveling system, great story, and a kickass battle system. It all depends on what you're looking for.
swordfish1390 8 months ago
@Theocl I thought FF13 was ok, but I definitely enjoyed Lost Odyssey more. I got it when it first came out and loved it! Just got it again yesterday and it was 16.99 pre-owned.

This game delivers!!
d21lewis 9 months ago
ign's reviews are so predictable. wen a fps comes out its usually over 9 like most of the call of duties. and wen a japanese rpg comes out chances are they're around 8.5. Like most of the dynasty warriors were given a rating below 8 and those games are fucking fun.
sk8mastayea 9 months ago
The loading screens aren't that long for me and I haven't experienced frame rate issues
Cthlhu4President 9 months ago
The problem is people pay too much attention to scores. Yes this game got 8.2, a slightly above average score.
But the last words spoken by the reviewer were "If you like japanese RPG's, go ahead and pick up this game". If you guys paid attention to what the reviewer said, rather than the score, you probably wouldn't hate this review so much.
Scores need to be a representation of how this game will appeal to ALL gamers. Words can explain how a game may be great for some gamers, bad for others.
bodysnatcher0421 9 months ago
I really find it annoying when every goddamn reviewer for JRPGs always says "Yeah it your typical JRPG story" id like to know how many JRPGS they have played that has the same story as Lost Odyssey. Stop talking shit and play the fucking game before you review it.

xFIRERUSHx 6 months ago
@TLIisawesome what happened is the reviewers got their screener disks before they optimized load times, so while they had to face 20-30 second load times and review based on that, the retail version made sure players only suffered a short amount of time. not only that, but if you have a hard drive, can't you install the game to avoid this shit? i'm just guessing.

Cal1c0cat 1 year ago
@Cal1c0cat Why do jrpgs always have to have 2 little kids? And annoying little kids at that, if they werent crying about their dead mother, they were getting into trouble trying to see her in some stupid mystical way. chopin65 1 year ago

Oh, but people need an easy game nowadays >_<

wateverwill 1 year ago
The game is just an amalgamation of JRPG-cliches, all the generic JRPG archetypal-personalities are present, the turn-based battle-system is uninspiring, albeit strategically deep - thankfully it isn't just button-mashing. Also, the level-design is too linear, there's not enough exploration, towns and villages are redundant, with nothing interesting to do to keep you occupied in-between fights and progressing the story. Oh, and those poems were awful - perhaps they were just lost in translation.
CHIPSTERO7 1 year ago
@CHIPSTERO7 dude they werent poems they were stories hahahahaha, and i think ur standards for a good game is to high
eliteace117 1 year ago
@CHIPSTERO7 Wow, this is the first game since Final Fantasy VII that had me completely engrossed in it. Those stories you say were horrible were written by an extremely renowned writer named Kiyoshi Shigematsu, and they were translated by a famous Professor from Harvard, who at first refused to contribute to a violent video game until he read the stories and could not believe the amazing messages they got across. It is really deep writing though and it takes a great understanding to grasp it.
