Man, crazy, talk about a long buried memory. Hearing this i just remembered my irish granny singing this to me when i was a lad, she died when i was about 2 or three.
Lovely stuff. I like this sort of music and I also like these types of ladies. Natural Earth mothers. The sort of ladies who, when giving birth, would simply squat over a puddle in the corner of a muddy field and push and yell until done!
@CelticReject Thanks for the compliment. Funny that you comment on our natural-ness... with both of us dressed up and wearing make-up for this indoor video. Glad our strength shines thru.
what pitches do you tune your bouzouki to? Thanks so much for your help in advance. I'm an aspiring Irish bard. :) btw, very nice job. lovely Gaelic voice.
@MrGoRaVeNs You can find the song in Singing In Irish Gaelic by Mary McLaughlin. This book comes with a CD to help with pronunciation, translations, etc. It's fabulous for non-Irish-speakers. There is another traditional song book out there for more advanced students or speakers of Irish... full of songs and lyrics, no CD, no translations. If you want to know more about that, I'll run out and fetch my copy to tell you more :-)
yeah i have heard about it ...it's between the first songs from the Carmina Burana it is called "in taberna"... certainly an amazing song collection...
Michelle is an AWESOME improvisor and that's what this is. She studies the melody, she comes up with musical ideas, and the part you hear is born. So, there is no sheet music for Michelle's fiddle magic. You are welcome to learn it by ear and shape things to your own ideas and taste. If you recorded Michelle's ideas, you would, of course, need to get the proper permissions as that is our arrangement and her fiddle work specifically. :-)
Lovey, just lovely!
