You can rent a BRAND NEW aprtmetn, 41 sqm, NEW FLASHY FLEVATOR, WASHROOM,no kitchen air con. 175$ BEHIND SECON SQUARE SHOPPING MALL!
100$ a month 32 sqm studio BRAND NEW with air con! It aint no dump. U CAN rent a Thai DUMP for less than 50$ a month. For ppl who have NEVER lived in Thailand don t know the real score.
Ive lived in East-SEA for 12 years! I personally have always lived on 1800-4000$ a month, but U CAN live reasonably well in THAILAND on 500ish a month.BEST value nation!
$175 no kitchen, but WITH AIR CON,flashy washroom, smallbalcony and furnished. Other buildings in that area have smaller units with cable for 4500bt, about 150$ a month! U want to live EXACTLY like in the west on 500$ a month? aint gonna happen. on 500, ur gonna have to make compromises, but these compromises arent that painful~!
Another hit! your absolutly right about the whole retirement issue. I turn 50 in two years, already have a Thai Bank Account ...........what else is needed to establish a retirement visa?
@expara1 Thanks. You just need the minimum amount of funds in your account (bank will verify this with a letter) and a valid visa and some forms filled out. There is a video here on YouTube I made that has a link to the extended version on my website. Check it out and if you have more questions just ask.
@RocknRollFansOnly Whats actually sinks you money wise in Thailand is all the women! If you are out chasing females all day long l like do money will go very quick! The best advice l can give anyone is to read a book called Thailand Fever. Let's face it,most Thai females need more money than love.l have had a wife, fiancee and tons of girlfriends, either way l still love the Thai's because they respect us regardless. l have sent several friends to Thailand and they all comeback with smiling faces!
@RocknRollFansOnly I actually have a link to purchase this book on my website. I am going to do a video about relationships with Thais. It is certainly different. After a while the chasing stops. I love King Crab but if I tried to eat it everyday I'd end up hating it. Same goes for anything. But sure is fun in moderation!
@RocknRollFansOnly It's weird. The only times I have gotten sick is when I ate in chain restaurants. The locals go shopping everyday because they use coolers with ice. The big guys have walk in refigerators and keep their stuff much longer. I made a video about this but it hasn't been posted yet.
@RocknRollFansOnly Interesting. It is one of the three main reasons I live here...mmm. Oh well. At least you have any kind of food you want here besides Thai food.
It should be mentioned that there is a minimum income requirement of 65,000 Baht ($2,100) per month after tax or 800,000 Baht ($26,000) in a Thai bank or a combination of the two. That is, if you want to get a legitimate "retirement" visa and not do visa runs. Let's say you get $800 after tax from Social Security, you are going to need at least $16000 in a Thai bank account. Hopefully, most of us have some assets at retirement, though I do know about people who have none.
This comment is EXACTLY why I started this project. This is totally incorrect. Go to the website and use the retirement budget calculator and then watch the videos and you will see that you can live here AND have fun. But if your fun is 1000 Baht female entertainment for the night then yes, I agree you need a little more cash!
Food costs me 200 Baht a day. And I eat out 2 to 3 times a day. Every week I see a movie It costs 60 to 100 Baht. Beer costs 50 Baht here. So watch ALL the videos.
@retirecheapjc I am glad I found you. I am almost 58 and I am not retiring rich, probably will be retiring on social security if it's still around...I am subing you...thanks!!
500 Per month is not enjoying life it is just barely surviving. You can survive but not have a good time. Anyone selling 500 dollar a month good time in Thailand is simply exagurating. There are always unusual fantastic deals but banking on that would be silly ofcourse. If you want a normal life of going to resturaunts, movies, a little shopping, a decent sized place to live airconditioning a car ect ....1000 is minimum.
@MrGarnache Dude, you've just been brainwashed Who the hell really needs a car, it's like a black hole with insurance, repairs, gas, etc.....Now, if you have more fine, but really an individual can have a wonderful life without all the entrapments of the Western world, it's mostly illusion anyway.
I am curious. If you renounce U.S. citizenship is he/she still entitled any pensions, benefits from the U.S.?

@pettyofficer30 No you aren't. Plus from what I understand, you have to give the USA 50% of all your assets.

@retirecheapjc hi,l think all the websites have been cornered in asia.
the chasing does get very boring after a while because there is millions of women.
l really feel very bad for all those females in pattay, thailand:(((
as far as thai or asian food,it makes me sick, you know food poisoning.
but as u know, you can walk into any pharmacy and by anti-biotics.
when ever i am out is asia l live out of 7/11's,more safe.
