I am extremely intrigued with what you're doing. It is amazing, spooky and kind of sad to think that a huge place like this, where tons people went to have a good time, could actually end up like this. But do you have any footage or pictures from inside the castle? If not, were you ever in there? what does it look like?
I went through the castle several times, but I actually never went inside. Usually my visits to Nara Dreamland are rather rushed due to the security guard there. But I'll keep your questions in mind in case I ever go back there...
I was born and raised in Nara Prefecture and used to visit Nara Dream Land. So, I have lots of memories there. Nara Dream Land was a kind of immitation of Disney Land in the US. However, I fully enjoyed myself when I was a kid. It was back in 1960's. Long before Tokyo Disney Land was opened.
I'm sure in the 60s and 70s Nara Dreamland was THE place to go in Japan when it came to amusement parks. Too bad they didn't invest much money until it was too late (Aska rollercoaster).
Since you've been there yourself: Do you remember a Peter Pan ride at Nara Dreamland? I've seen a photo of it, but I've never seen it myself or on any map...
I was going to poke some fun at this horrible recreation...but it is actually just sad. Someone had a dream to make a park as enjoyable as Disneyland, and it fell through. Cut a few corners here and there, no big deal right? Wrong. Just like the monorail they tried to build in Springfield in the Simpsons. I would love to check this place out.
I guess the place was pretty decent when it opened in 1961 - probably state of the art by the Japanese standards of that time. Sadly NDL started to rot away while it was still open and I'm pretty sure the pay per ride concept didn't help either.
I guess Nara Dreamland was (Japanese) state of the art when it opened, but unlike Disneyland there wasn't much money put into renovation and innovation. Japanese amusement parks often lack maintenance. (See Expoland for example, where a young woman died because they didn't inspect a rollercoaster for years...)
Nara Dreamland is becoming one of the most famous abandoned places in Japan, although it's technically just closed, not really abandoned - it's owned by the rather well-known Japanese supermarket chain "Daiei" and I guess they don't mind spending some bucks on security to prevent further vandalization of the place by people who are not coming to just take some pictures and videos...
@iBleedSquirrels this would never happen to disney. Disney is a world-famous, multi million dollar historical park that has set the calibur for world-class theming and entertainment. Nara was a low-quality, cheap, and knock off park ever since it had opened in 1961. by the 2000's, it became an even crappier, run-down, scary, dilapidated place. nothing like that has, or will i think, happen to disney. i just hope they move Aska to Park Espana, it would be perfect there

Yeah, pretty much. Except that there are no official tours at Nara Dreamland - but there is security, too...

@AbandonedKansaiVideo Why is there security? Noone goes there. And I just keep thinking what if this happens to Disneyland in 50 years....
