  • Nice song. Performance is nothing short of comical.

  • Pudgy...Dicky...Gpa bill...all the Matowkskis...it is all family and I love you just the same.

  • I have always liked this guys musical style and voice and bought the Planet P project way back and then kind of forgot about him. And thanks to you tube I started re-discovering my favorite music of the past. And I just was curious where this great musician hailed from and to my surprise he grew up in a town called Turlock about 100 miles from where I live. Amazing all the great musicians who come from small towns in america and make it big.

  • what a great song - such a good story teller! Love it! Central Park $20 Mark! Ya!

  • This is one of those songs they will be playing 50 years from now.

  • are you the chick in the early 80,s that was throwing bras at him???

  • I always wondered what happened Tony..i loved his music...saw him in early 80's in tulsa, OK

  • Tony, please come back with Some Tough City, Planet P Project materiel.

  • It pains me that I'm old enough to have watched this on tv. I agree about the stupid clapping but it made sense way back when

  • Just cus the lips dont match the music, doesnt mean he is lipsyncing. Its called "the music track is off a bit" It still happens. Awhile back, every video at MySpace, the video and music didnt match. Wasnt the video, it was something else. Its working fine now.

Tony Carey kicks some ass with this song!

  • Awersome artist and song.

  • I always liked it. And SolidGold was a much watch.

  • heard this song wen i was 15yrs old..way back in 84...and hadnt heard it since, until i came across it here...a quite classic song...pure american pop,rock....

  • thanks for post i thought id never, ever see or hear this song again last time i did was in 1984 i was 11 i think. i liked it then and still do.

  • @sebastainknight I remember seeing this on MTV of morning when i get up 4 school. Was a senior. Like u, i was glad 2 hear it again. ROCK ON.

  • @sebastainknight likewise my friend,i was 15 back in 1984..and wat an age to hear a song like that, thought i never wud again, but youtube is a lifesaver;; a quite classic american pop, rock song...pure class..

  • You gotta love the basses of the 80s... Good Steinbergers.

I had one and LOVE the sound and style. A pleasure to play.

    Kimmyskunk

  • Solid Gold was gay to say the very least...

  • Hit #22 in Billboard. Tony, c'mon back home to the US.

  • This is NOT live by the way!! It's pretty obvious...haha

  • sounds as great today as it did 25+ yrs ago.

BTW -- is it me, or did anyone else think the blond-haired bass player to Tony's left looks like Garth (Wayne's World).

  • (snicker) that's funny jeff, and good observation. XD

to tonfan: yes, reminiscent of mtv back in the day. mtv totally sucks - has since basically 1991 - totally went to shit. vh1 just recycles much of the same ol same ol.

would be awesome if there was a pirate music tv channel (playing a wide variety of music, hard to find music and artists, you get the idea) - imagine what could be done with something like that.. mtv or vh1 sure won't be doing anything like that ever. you can count on that.

  • This song is really Wonderful!!!, remember me the great 80s!!!!!!!!

  • T.C. lives in Spain now

  • Germany, actually.

  • hey T.C. Cleveland , Ohio wants a one night stand.

    come back home U.S.A.

  • ''excellent''

  • great song

  • reminds me back when MTV was just music vids. This is one great song-has'nt he been living in europe for the last 25 years or so?...

  • last i heard he is in germany still cracking the top 10

  • I can deal with the lip syncing, it's that ridiculous clapping that I can't stand. This is not the kind of song you clap along to.

  • @x2bnex2me I think most singers today are lip syncing.don't ya think?? I did seen Him in Concert in the 80's and He Can really sing....All these New Singers are the one's thats lip syncing...But the clapping...stupid

  • @x2bnex2me lol, even the hand clapping's dubbed in!

  • Unlike most of you posters, I'm old enough to remember when "A Fine Fine Day" was in its original radio run in 1984. A great year for music, and this was one of the best.

  • to bad he is lip singing it. Lol it sounded just like the recorded version haha

  • For a TV appearance I don't see what is wrong with lipsinking. This give the band more exposure with out burning out the voice. And as long as you let the camera guys know you could be totally bombed off your ass and no one would know. It also give the crowd the music and sound they expect.

  • i ve been there it sucked and MAN IT WAS A FINE DAY not proud of it but i was 18- 30 years ago no problems any more tho

  • i loved this song from when i was 12 today i'm 39.still excellent ,too bad it's forgotten.have the original album,no cds on this one,never reissued.early mtv .

  • I'm 39 too. Got into Planet P Project all cassettes then. Found this song on Limewire so it is now on my Ipod. Hope this helps you.

  • I found an original CD print out of Europe from Czech.... on eBay back in 2002. Real deal, no paper label, real print all the way through inside cover with multiple pages. Seller said had lots of old CD's that were out of print, Same guy had the Risky business sound track on CD, try to find that one. I put them both on the harddrive and put the disks up for safe keeping. Wow, just checked ebay, found about 10 new in case, found one claiming to be remastered, check it out.

  • i do. i got them at geno's records. in fresno ca where tony grew up. i have both cd's planet p and the original fine fine day. you just gotta look .

  • This song was kind of a precurser to all the "mob" movies & shows that came later (Goodfellas, Sopranos, etc). Tony Carey was pretty darn cool.

  • Awesome Tony Carey!!! Thanks.

  • omg, remember this too, seeing it. this was one of my favorite songs back in the day, still is and i love tony carey. he's still making great music.

  • OSSSA ERA JÄVLA HOROR

  • So very good!

    Hi from Sweden!

  • GREAT SONG!

  • That audience likes to clap!

  • it adds more of a beat!

  • European crowd INSIST on clapping. gay ;)

  • It's from a US show!

  • @JRG58

    Hahahhah owned! xD

  • @PebbleBreeze AGREED. Ruins the song.

  • Does that tall lanky bass player look like Ric Ocasek (the Cars) to anybody else?

  • Is that Tommy Shaw on guitar in there?

  • Nope, Tommy did play with Damn Yankees, along with Ted Nugent though

  • His music and looks are sort of a Meatloaf look.

  • 2008ljr - You wouldn't last a new york second in the big apple. They may consider your response to be along the lines of a candy assed weiner look.

  • Hate to disappoint you, but You are talking to a New Yorker from Brooklyn. So you know what you can do you with your comment.

  • Haven't heard this song in a long while. Always enjoyed it though.

  • One of the best songs ever written! A lot of heart/meaning! Ultimate!!!

  • Well said...what I love most about it is that it tells a tale. That's a trait u just don't see in songs these days. Even the good songs...

  • Goodlooking guy.

  • thank you for leting me rember I forgot

  • Awsome I forgot how much I loved this song and group. MORE!!!!

  • is tony a native american?

  • yep- part cherokee from what i understand

  • Pretty good song. I guess I'm biased though (my dad's the guy in the white hat on guitar...). :-D

  • @OneBadSkunk

    OOOOO Lucky Lucky... GREAT Guitarist.

    Kimmyskunk

  • i looked for this cd,after watching this,it has been out of print scince 1994,but i managed to find it on amazon, can't wait to listen to it,great song,

  • What is he doing now?

  • Sill performs from what I gather, lives in Germany also I think

  • he's a fine fine talent!

  • me ha ce recordar mi adolencencia es buena rola

tenia anos ke no la oia gracias senores por este video es buena rola

  • Toney Carey !! my God this guy was playing keys with RAINBOW back in the 70s huh ? What a fine and way underrrated talent when he went solo...still got some vynils of him somewhere...Boystown....great songs.

  • Too Bad Rainbow Lost Him. It Was Just The First Who Left!!!

  • wow i didn't know he played with rainbow,i always liked this song,

  • I always loved this song- Didn't really know how sad it was until I saw the video.

  • Tony Carey (in my humble opinion) is a godzilla-sized talent who slipped through the cracks of "superstardom" (whatever that means?)yet is still touring in Germany and Sweden and? I love his style! Got Natalia?

  • Tony Carey definitely is a MAJOR talented artist who writes and performs the most AWESOME recordings...and he is so handsome...love his smile!!!

  • i'm dude but i know what your saying. one of my all time great rocken rollers

  • i don't like the music of the 80's but this song is fantastic...only rockin

  • JOE B..

    HEY BROTHER

  • why are u watching it ???

  • Remember Box of Frogs?

  • I loved this song when i came out. He rocks.

  • Saw him in concert back in 84 when he opened for Night Ranger.

  • wow, i didnt know steve earl sang this song.

  • 1984 all over again...for me...WOW!

  • Good music will never die

  • Amen!!

  • God I miss When Music was played with a Guitar and Drums not a turntable and a lot of swearing

  • AMEN, whatever happened to talent?

  • I agree...there is no talent in the music indurstry these days. There might be a few..but only a few..most of it is crap. This man was a true talent. He was way overlooked.

  • i remember when this video ( the original) was on every 3 hours on mtv

  • Now you're lucky if they play a video at all.

  • Epecially it was obvious that there is no more M in mtv. who wants to see a bunch untalented people rap while they grab there junk. There are no more like the door and stones whe they were on Sullivan. it s all canned

  • underated ..comercially. BUT we all know how talented this bloke is.{looks a bit like steve earl now}

  • Hadn't heard this song in 23 years. Always remembered it. Amazingly, it still fucking rocks.

  • Im right there with you, brother. I was 15 when this bad boy came out and it kicked my ass then and still kicks my ass now!

  • Cheers, man.

  • memories!

  • Fantastic song.

  • This song stands out from the 80s for me in such a big way. Just one of those songs I guess. Not to mention Tony reminds me of a guy I liked way back when. Very cool, thanks.

  • Actually, Mickey Lee Soule was the original keyboard player in Rainbow, as Blackmore agreed to use (most of) Dio's band Elf at Ronnie's insistance. Tony joined on the second album, Rising.

  • The 1st day of summer is getting close :) Tony you Rock !

  • awesome. thanx for posting.

  • tony, you make the day better..

  • It doesn't matter where you find an audience as long as you have people listening. Come to think of,it'd be kinda nice to be huge in one part of the world and relatively unknown in another so you can get away from it all for a spell, heh. Oh, and Solid Gold was an American program btw.I even saw this appearance.

  • nuthin gonna make you forget tony

  • Wow, remembering my summer 80s with friends in a car going nowere and listening to Tony Carey...

  • One of the handful of 80s songs I really loved. I had no idea Tony Carey was in Planet P, and I never saw this song except on MTV. Thanks for a great post! TL

  • He is not *in* "Planet P." He *is* "Planet P." He used that name to avoid contractual obligations so he could release more music, more quickly. By the way: he was also the original keyboardist for Richie Blackmore's post Deep purple band, "Rainbow."

  • Got it. And I didn't know about him being in Rainbow, either. Where the hell have I been? :( Thanks for info. I like finding out stuff like that. tl

  • snowchick84 just the fuck up

  • This is one of the songs from my teen years in the 80s that I never forgot, all these years later. One of my favorite songs still, and likely always will be.

  • Did the fat-ass really think the verticle stripes fooled anyone? I guess Europe's standards are a lot lower, since that's the only place he seemed to find an audience.

  • Go kill yourself.

  • Then why are you watching the video 23 years later?

  • The video to this song was the first video I ever saw on MTV....damn good song then and now

  • Couldn't this guy afford a gym membership?

  • Shut up, faggot.

  • Thanks for the video, I loved this song! I agree that it should of been at the top of the charts and tony was a underrated singer

  • Tony Cary was in Rainbow and The Planet P Project. Another song in 1984 by him was "First Day Of Summer". Fine Day is a GREAT tune...shame its in the where-are-they-now-file.

  • very underrated song from the spring of 1984 should have charted higher

  • I agree. Hitting #22 on May 5th of 1984 with a bullett and not going any higher is a travesty!!!!

  • great Beta capture,dude!
