  • i have a question how do u do the voice chat?

  • Is this game still worth getting? I play Tekken 6 allot. Are people still online?

  • @daidouji its better than tekken 6 imho

  • this no ps2 dark ressurection

  • @crookedtheletterk

if you got Tekken 6, you should select the new Scenario Campaign mode, . This mode lets you take a story, just like Tekken Force mode.

  • does this version existe for os2

  • Goblin231 -- I don't know what you're asking. I don't what os2 is.

  • sorry i mean ps2

  • Oh, sorry. No, Tekken: Dark Resurrection Online is not for the PS2. The regular Tekken 5 is, however.

  • whats the name of the song at the end ?

and can u make a video showing all lili's throws please

  • The song at the end is the beginning of the instrumental of "Still D.R.E" by Dr. Dre.

  • you know tekken 6 should copy dead or alive lobbies.

  • can i use debit card on ps3 just to this game :(

  • thanks its really helpful for the ones who dont own the game

    btw im from israel

  • Makes me wish I had online :(

  • At 1:35 the noise would piss off the shit out of me! lol nice game and review though! :)

  • u forgot 1 thing! the great music

  • hey

can someone share this game with me ?

  • fuck outta here.

  • can u tell me how to get the online ver becuz i just download the game on to my ps3 but it doesnt say ONLINE

  • When you download it from the PSN store, there should be three options. The standard pack is $20 and doesn't include the online add-on; the whole package is $30; or if you already have the standard version you can download the add-on for $10 more. The add-on may be listed elsewhere in the PSN, and they sometimes have a separate section for add-ons. I haven't been on the PSN store in a while, but you should be able to find it, or go to "All Games" and look for it alphabetically.

  • alrite thx man but dang my internet sucks when i play hella lags on DSL ahahahahah

  • how u download the tekken 5dr game in ps3?

  • you bought the 20$ one, you need the 30$ for online play.

  • Dr Dre - Awesome!

  • the online battle menu music is just so depressing

  • lokallize -- I couldn't agree more.

  • furiousharry -- The graphics are in HD if you have an HDtv and an HDMI cable. Arcade quality.

  • Like PS2 (and in HQ if you have and HQ TV) .

  • How did you video this all on your television?

  • silentsniper522 -- I use a digital camera hooked up to the Audio Video cables. There are many videos on Yotube describing how to do that if you're interested.

  • can u get this on the psp?

  • fahadrana95 -- They make Tekken Dark Resurrection on the PSP, but there's no Online Mode for it like this. And I'm sorry for the delayed reply.

  • fanx for the reply, its alright anyway

  • so i can't play tekken DR psp online? god i tried to connect it but no ppl in the battle lobby why?

  • great review thanx!

    ☆☆☆☆☆

  • thx man for the review very interesting but 1 more question : do you have to stick the ps3 cable in to a router or something to get online?would that work?

  • Gytpow -- Yes, the manual that came with the PS3 should give you better details, but that's exactly what you do.

  • how do u get this on ya ps3

  • nickboy170 -- You hook up your PS3 to the internet, go to the PlayStation store, and download it. $30 for the whole package that includes the Online Mode.

  • ight thank u

  • 1 more question.....how do u hook up da ps3 2 da internet?

  • nickboy170 -- If you have an internet connection (which I assume you do since you are posting here) just hook the Ethernet cable from your PS3 into the router that your computer is hooked into. The Ethernet cable comes with the PS3, and the manual should give you better details. I hope that helps.

  • i dnt think i have one...srry but 1 more question....lol....wat does it look like???/

  • nickboy170 -- What does what look like? The Ethernet cable? It has what looks like a phone cable on both ends. Your PS3 should have come with it, as well as a sheet showing you everything that was supposed to come with the PS3, as well as a manual that has a picture of the Ethernet cable and where to hook it up. I'm sorry if you were asking something else and I misunderstood. Do you have the PS3 manual?

  • is this for psp

  • saif03paul -- There is a Tekken DR for the PSP, but this video is about the Online Mode of Tekken DR for the PS3. There's no Online Mode for the PSP version.

  • o ok thx for replying. =)

  • there is team battle and veruses mode for 2 players? or is it just for one player and online

  • Brovvser760 -- There's a Versus Mode for 2 offline players but there's no Team Battle at all.

  • how do you go to tekken5 DR online?

  • zrog2468 -- Sorry if I'm not sure what you mean. You just hook up your PS3 to the internet and download Tekken DR Online from the PlayStation Store. It's $30 (or $10 for the update if you already downloaded the $20 non-online version). Then as long as you're still hooked up you can play online.

  • is this for psp?

  • spirits456 -- There is a Tekken DR for the PSP, but this video is about the Online Mode in the PS3 version.

  • I exprience lots of lag on the online mode, any tips on reducing lag?

  • Potha5her -- Well, supposedly lag will be minimal if you only play against other people in your same region/country, but it's been my experience that that doesn't even seem to matter most of the time. I don't really have any direct tips or ideas, sorry.

  • ok no problem thanks anyway.

  • Using a wired connection would help a lot, since your console doesn't need to do any data transmission from room to another.=)

If I get an internet connection to my PS3,it's wired.

  • what r the modes on there in the title screen i can barly see them, but i can see online mode, arcade and vs, wat r the rest

  • frodo490 -- Also there's Survival Mode, Practice Mode, Options, and Ghost Mode, which is really arcade mode and what is called Arcade Mode is really story mode without the story.

  • ok thanks

  • no story? fuck i just bought without mums permission she gonna be pissed.

  • What the heck?I didn't see Finland's flag there....

  • Muggshotter -- Yeah, there are a LOT of flags, so I didn't scroll thru them all. I'm sure Finland is in there.

  • Ok.Thanks for reply dude.:)

  • is tekken 5 DR online in the same disc?

  • KirbyOfTehStars -- Sorry, I'm not really sure what you mean by the "same disc." Tekken DR for the PS3 is not a game that you buy an actual disk of, but you just download it onto your PS3's hard drive. You can download the version without Online Mode for $20, or if you want to buy the full package with Online Mode, Practice Mode, and Survival Mode, it's $30. Sorry if you meant something else.

  • I see... thanks

  • to crookedletterk:

when are you planning to put vids of tekken 6 ?

  • seeJ93 -- Whenever it's available for the PS3 in the US, which will probably be a while :(

  • crookedletterk I finally got my PSN account setup. My PSN username is MAKAVELI-4-EVER. You can add me if u want just tell me your username so I know who u are. Look forward to playing u in T5:DR Online and other games.

  • demasiado juego el mejor juego de peleas en el planeta entero no hay juego de ese genero que se le pare en medio, el mas cercano es dead or live pero le falta mucho

  • When i play online the image just keeps stopping and i can't juggle! I made a small research and found out this is due not only to my internet connection(which was the fastest available)but because this was not officially released in Europe and so it doesn't matter upon your connection at least that's what i found out. can anybody help me i am begging to play online:(!

  • why isn't this in tekken 5?

  • roodjager -- I guess we had to wait until the next-gen :)

  • Hey crookedletterk. Will your PSN(Playstation Network) username be the same as your name for T5:DR online name or can u have it as a different name?

  • sumalumah -- Good question. When playing DR Online your name will be the same as your PSN username.

Also, if you haven't got your PS3 yet, I should let you know that when you first hook it up you have to download the latest software version, install it, set up your account, download Tekken, & install it. For some reason I thought I would take the PS3 out the box & start playing, but it took a couple hours before I was all set, just so you know what to expect.

  • How do you get the latest software version?

  • How do I get the latest software version?

  • It will prompt you to download/install it automatically. That's one thing that I don't like about playing online: Every so often, I'm all set to play & as soon as I turn everything on I have to sit thru 5 minutes of upgrading, but it's no biggie. It'll just tell you, "you need the latest software" and you follow the onscreen instructions, which basically means you just hit the X button to Okay everything.

  • O my bad. It's just when u told me that I need the latest software version I thought I needed to search for it on my computer and download and/or pay for it. But other than that thanks for walking me through it crookedletterk. I really I appreciate it. Thanks for everything.

  • Hey crookedletterk Once u download the game including the full package, do u just need internet access or something else to play online?

  • sumalumah -- Yeah, the PS3 comes with an Ethernet cable, which you need to hook up to the Internet to download the game, and as soon as it's downloaded & installed you can play online. You're right; you don't need anything extra to play, just an Internet connection.

  • Ok thanks then I'm set to play . Once again I'd like to give special thanks to u crookedletterk for posting this video and showing a brief explanation on how to work the online mode I appreciate it. Feel free to show me your Tekken 5 DR online username so we can play each other sometime. I don't have an account yet but I'll contact u right away when I get everything setup. Thank you very much.

  • crookedletterk thank u very very very much for posting this. This is the first game I'll get when I buy my PS3. Man I'm gonna have so much fun playing others across the world. But really I appreciate you taking time out of your day to make and post this video. Maybe when I get my account setup I'll add you as a friend and we can play each other some time.

  • I really want this game

but I already got VF5 for my PS3

  • is this the original ps3 version

  • rustythegoat -- Yeah, I downloaded it the day it became available...

  • LOL room full! I always get network error wen i try joining a room. Although if i create a room i can fight others who join.

  • May i know how big is the tekken dr game file? I'm in a dilema wondering to get 40gb or 80gb ps3

  • HAZ316 -- Sorry, I don't know. And I thought the system only came in 40gb or 60gb. I also thought they quit producing the 40gb's. I bought the 60gb (which was originally $600) when it dropped to $500, but now they're selling for $400. If you buy the 40g, you may end up regretting it down the line...

  • Thanks for the quick reply. I Intend to get the 60gb, but seem like there no 60gb stock in singapore anymore....... Is the 40gb really that bad?

  • HAZ316 -- Well, I'm not saying really that *bad*, I'm just saying that in a few years depending on how much stuff you're putting on the system you may wish you had that extra 20gb...

  • download file size = about 900MB

    install space = about 1.7GB

PS3' HDD is very easy to replace(2.5" 5400rpm SATA).If the space is running short, change to bigger one. u can download files again for free.

  • thanks setuzoku and crooked for the info

  • How do you change to a bigger size setuzoku?

  • sumalumah -- Sorry; I'm not sure what you mean.

  • I was trying to figure out what setuzoku was saying. Because he said, "PS3' HDD is very easy to replace(2.5" 5400rpm SATA).If the space is running short, change to bigger one. u can download files again for free." So my point is how do u do what he is talking about.

  • does it only cost $10?

  • lordcycle -- Sorry; the update is 10. The original DR download was 20 (but didn't include Practice Mode, Survival Mode, or the Online Mode), so it's really $30 for the whole package.

  • Thanks for the video. Hey, doesn't Raven say 1-10 in Japanese on one of his victory poses? The numbers you put at the end of the video made me think of that.

  • AzuroMasurao -- Yeah, I know what you're talking about, but Raven's not counting; what he's saying is some ninja incantation (it's the same in the Tenchu games). But thanks for the comment :)

  • those aren't numbers... those are actual ninja thingys maybe if you try it in real life something will happen hehe...

  • To be precise, they're called kuji-in. But you're right, those are Japanese numbers at the end of the video :)

  • look awesome, i want :(

  • how is the lag and delay like is it worth even playing on

  • Bcather -- Like I said, the lag is not too frequent, but when it does happen it's the worst thing in the world. It'll really try your patience. I wouldn't say that it's not worth playing though; anyone that can afford the PS3 should be able to afford the game ($30 altogether, or $10 for the update if you already have the non-online version). If it was more expensive I would only recommend it to the Tekken-addicts, but it's definitely worth ten bucks.

  • I did not know if it came with voice chat, so thanks for clearing that up for me. Ill get downloading now.

  • I like how the menu goes back to its old look with the huge logo of the game with the selectable items on the bottom.

  • Nice video man.Thanks!!

  • Sorry if it looks like i am a noob, but how did u get Tekken DR Online? I live in Europe and it isnt released yet.

  • Waddeceb -- It was released on the PS Network in Japan/China around Aug 1, and released in North America around Aug 30. I would totally think it's available in Europe (its Oct already), but I don't know. If you have a PS3 check the online store.

  • It isnt released in Europe, yet T.T. Thank u for ur answer.

  • Has it been released now?. I've only just found out today that there is a Tekken5 online.

  • It is released in europe now.

  • i know i hate that

  • That's just how I talk when I'm trying to make a point (whether it makes sense or not...), I'm seriously not trying to sound like an asshat. :D

  • its for the ps3 right?

its kinda complicated coz i dont own a ps3... and about the flag, is there a philippine flag available?

coz im from the philippines... certified 100% pilipino...

  • SquallCloud11 -- Yeah it's for the PS3. About the flags, I didn't scroll thru all the flags, but there's a ton of them; I'm sure there's a Philippine flag. Keep up the good DR juggles; if you don't get a PS3 maybe they'll go Online on the PSP one day (??). I don't see why they can't do it.

  • 8.2 -- The loading is so frequent, that even if everyone has a good connection, and even if you win over and over, you'll still spend about as much time looking at the load screen and the lobby as you will actually fighting, so relax and be patient.

  • 8.1 (Conclusion)

The setup is cool (rooms and lobbies and stuff). The ranking is stupid because it doesn't indicate who's good and who's bad; it only lets you know who's been playing Online the most. The lag is not that frequent, but when it happens it's the worst thing in the world.

  • 7.2 -- Also, your name is going to be your username for the Playstation Network, so whatever name you have entered in your regular Tekken game doesn't apply. You also cannot change outfit setting online; you'll need to do all your customizing in the regular game.

    Jinpachi is not selectable online.

  • 7.1 (Other Notes)

Some personal settings, namely the BGM volume and Subtitle settings, carry over to your personal experience of Online. In other words, if you cut the music off, you'll never hear the music in online matches.

  • 6.3 -- If you create a room yourself, you can specify that no-one in the room can use voice chat. (That doesn't mean that people with microphones can't come in, they just can't use the microphones once in there). This is also suggested, because the game warns you that voice chatters in the room increase the probability of lag-time.

  • 6.2 -- This can be kind of annoying and/or distracting; you can be fighting some else and hear the other people in the room talking the whole time. Several times I would mute the TV. And of course, you can't control what people say; profanity, threats, and other unsportsmanlike comments are totally uncensored.

  • 6.1 (Voice Chat)

You can use a microphone to voice chat the whole time (except you get cut off momentarily during loading), but even if you don't have a microphone, you can still hear everyone else that does.

  • 5.6 -- Ranks can also be deceiving; just because someone is a "Beginner," doesn't mean that they suck. They could be the best player on earth, but just playing DR-Online for the 1st time.

  • 5.5 -- I started playing the day after it was released, and within an hour I had 1699 points and was #963, meaning that 962 people had more points than me. I cut it off, and the next day when I cut it on, (with the same number of points) I was down to number 800 and something. So you could be #1 (have the most points), and if you stopped playing for a week who knows how far down you'd drop. This will only get more ridiculous the longer the game is out and the more people start playing it.

  • Wrong, the rankings will even out more as time goes by. Like every other online game with similar rankings. And of course you're going to fall if you don't play as much as other people, it's only natural.

  • samuricex -- Thanks for pointing out a few things that I was unaware of (mostly pertaining to the points attained after Dan rankings); you could've been more tactful, but it's cool. Also, two of your comments agreed with what I was trying to say, although you seemed to being disagreeing while supporting my point; perhaps I wasn't clear. Sorry about that. True thanks to you though :)

  • 5.4 -- This doesn't really give you much to strive for, unless you have no life. You could be the best player ever, and never lose a match, but if you only play a few hours a week, you'll never be close to #1. In contrast, you could suck terribly, but if you play 20 hours a day, you'll accumulate enough points to be in the lead. (I'm not disrespecting or judging those in the lead, or those that have a lot of free time; I'm just making a point).

  • Wrong, wrong, wrong.

You only get points for losing if you're in the KYU rankings. Once you get to the DAN rankings and up, you lose points for losing. And fighting people lower ranked than you gets you less points, while beating people higher ranked than you nets you more. The opposite is true for losses.

  • 5.3 -- When you fight, win or lose, you get points (not like the Gold you get in the regular game). Of course, you get more points for winning. These points determine your overall placement, in other words, the person with the most points is the #1 player.

  • 5.2 -- Also, the regular game keeps up with your win/loss ratio for each character. Again, online you start out with a clean slate, zero/zero, and no matter what characters you fight with, your stats are *your* overall stats. But of course, if you let a friend play, and they lose 10 in a row, it reflects on you.

  • 5.1 (Ranks and Stats)

In the regular (off-line) game, you know you have an individual rank for each character. Online none of that matters. Your rank is *your* rank, not your character's. So even if you have all characters to Dark Lord, when you first start Online, you're a Beginner.

  • Of course it doesn't matter. There's a huge difference between fighting an NPC and fighting a real person. I could come up with cheap strategies offline to win 100% with everyone if I took the time. That doesn't work with real people. And Win/Lose ratio doesn't mean anything. Some people like to pad their records, others like to fight better people.

  • 4.5 -- There's no way to weed out who has a bad connection. Theoretically, playing people in the same region as yourself should give you the best chance of real-time fights, but there's no way of knowing what region someone is in. Each player has a flag, but the flags are deceptive because you can choose any one you want. Just because you're in the US and someone has a US flag doesn't mean that they're not on the other side of the world.

  • It only takes one person with a bad connection to enter the room and ruin all the fun.

  • 4.4 -- There's 2 types of lag. Sometimes, the game *looks* smooth, but your character doesn't respond to your button presses immediately. Other times, the lag is visibly noticeable, as in the game actually freezes up for a split second every so often. Also, there's been several times that my character would just walk backwards for a few seconds, no matter what buttons I pressed. I hate that.

  • 4.3 -- Defensively, if they attack me with a slow but powerful move, I could react in time to block or counter, but with the lag my character just stands there and eats it no matter what buttons I'm pressing. This is especially frustrating when it affects your overall rank and profile status.

  • 4.2 -- If someone with a bad connection fights me, and they use a large and powerful character, I'm toast. Offensively, my juggles never work because once I launch them into the air, no matter how quickly I press the right buttons, my character doesn't respond in time.

  • 4.1 (Lag Time)

For the most part, I haven't experienced too much lag, but when it hits it's usually brutal. Personally, I like faster characters like Ling, whose attacks are comparatively weak, but my speed and juggling skills make up for it.

  • 3. (Load Time)

Load time isn't too long, but it is frequent. The basic idea is, you start out in the lobby, then load time, then the fighters pick their characters, then load time, then a fight, then load time, and you're back in the lobby. Impatience is bad.

  • 2.2 -- When you join the room, you're at the bottom of the list, & after each fight you move up one spot until you're in the top 2, meaning it's your turn to fight the champion.

  • 2.3 -- If you lose, you go back to the bottom & wait in line, but as long as you win, you stay in the top spot and everyone takes turns fighting you.

  • So there's always only one fight at a time in a room, but you get to watch it even if you're not in it, so you'll see who you're about to fight.

  • cool

  • 2.1 (Lobby & Fight Order)

The setup in the room is like this: you see a screen called the lobby, with everyone's name in a list. The current champion of the room is at the top, & under them is the next challenger.

  • 1.3 -- I like this better because when you can join someone else's room you're stuck with their setup. If they have it set at the best 5 out of 9 rounds, and if you're the 8th person in the room, it'll be 15 minutes at least before you get a chance to fight. I like best 3 out of 5, maximum of 4 people (small rooms). Note that when the host (creator) of the room exits, the room closes. In other words, everyone gets kicked out and has to go searching for another room.

  • Not true. If the creator leaves then one of the players near the top becomes the new "mod".

  • 1.2 -- Sometimes, if you search for a room and it says "No rooms available," you can search again immediately and find half a dozen rooms, so I haven't quite figured that one out. Also, I don't know why it lists rooms that are full.

What I like to do is Create a Room; you get to set the number of rounds, round time, etc. Of course, then you're the only person in the room. Eventually someone will join the room, or you can send out Invites to other players asking them to fight with you.

  • 1.1 (Rooms and Match Types)

The players are divided into rooms. Each room can have a maximum of 8 players, but if you create a room you can choose a lower limit.

If you click Opti Match or Quick Match, you have to wait while it searches for rooms. Either it will say "No rooms available," or it will give you a list of rooms. But then if you click on a room usually it says "Room is full," so either way, Opti and Quick Matches can take a while to get into.
