  • hummmm tune!

  • Just converted this to a Ringtone on Tube2Tone

  • one of the illest in the game

  • yea i will agree if Kanye goes back to his normal rapping style [breathe in breathe out, through the wire, etc.]. i think they're the only real hip-hoppers. kanye, talib, lupe, jay z, mos def, and some other cats that arent fake rappers.

  • like peanut butter wolf's label? madlib, MF DOOM, j dilla, MED, Lord Qaus and so forth

  • well... i dont listen to all that obscure music that much, but i'll check em out. they're probably on the level of kanye and talib. i kno j dilla and jaylib are good.

  • this nigga SPITS fire

the only mutha fuker that can outspit kweli IS KRAYZIE bone

  • This is just me, but Kanye, Jay-Z, and Lupe are pretty awful. KRS1 is ill nasty, props to panda on that one. RA the rugged man, AOTP, Jedi mind tricks, THAT'S what real hip hop os.

  • u cant say Lupe is awful...thats just ignorant

  • ur right but you might want to switch names before you say that

  • lmao.....yo i had that name for years now.....ur right i should, im a changed man now

  • + Army of the Pharaohs and Snowgoons

  • i love this man music

  • I'd like to know exactly what makes them so whack. You're probably one of the many people who heard Flashing Lights, and don't even know what its about. And Common definitely doesn't sound the same on every track. John Legend is from Philly I believe. Also, don't even get me started on how Common, Kanye, and Lupe only represent a speck of what "Chi-Town" music is..

  • He gets his props!!!

It would be like Rome biggin Jesus up. For the "mainstream" to blow this up... it would be a trick to it.

For the people by the people!

  • I want everyone to remember this formula: Rap - Lies= HIP HOP!!!! Talib Kweli is a beast! :) I wish he got the props he deserves.

  • Oh snap really????? DERRRRRR no shit cockfag. i corrected myself. It IS new york but what i was trying to say, if you can fucking read, was that he represents chi-town. know the whole story.

  • This dude is sikk!!!

  • this is the only kweli shit i like. cant really get in to him or mos def or common

  • "new york music" is people like jay z, diddy and all those types.

  • Great Song!!!!!!

  • so fucking good, every lyric is like nectar for the soul

  • this man is worth my money, every CD, ill download his music then go buy his album just cause i need to listen to it and at the same time, his music deserves every penny

  • I'm going to download this full album, burn it on CDs, then sell it to all my friends.

  • have fun in jail oneeightseven

  • I was actually in a Houston County Juvenile "Detention Center" for 3 years, then I had to spend 1 year in a H-Town County Penitentary. It wasn't fun at all.

  • this came out a year out!! like before july 07!

  • WOW! I love this song....and this man. A true artist....

  • I Luv it so much! One of my favorite songs!!!

  • i luv this song

  • lol this is not new york dickhead, its Chi-town.

  • Shit dude you're right, that IS Chicago! Now I feel stupid! Disregard my last comment people, I need to re-phrase, It's all about the south Chicago! My bad guys.

  • lol my bad for the dickhead comment but its cool dude...i still say chi-music is better though...lupe, kanye, common, john legend....beastly.

  • I'm pretty sure that's NYC. Did you see the chrysler building and the Empire State and the Brooklyn Bridge?

  • Oh yeah i know that but what i meant to say was that even though talib was born in NY, he represents chi-town when it comes to his music.

  • oh yeah word. They do have some nice stuff comin outta chicago now.

  • this guy has sick videos

    great songs too

  • Epic song. Epic guy. TK is pretty awesome. Quality is definitely still my favorite record.

  • i remember this song. reminds me of 8th grade back in nyc the bronx!

  • He looks like Freeway in this video :P

But ILL track with an ILL Video!!

    BK Reppin all day!!!

  • ya don't even know the meaning of bk

  • BROOKLYN

not no Blood killer man dont be bringing that hate on the internet the world is corrupt enough as it is if it started on the street let it die on the street...

  • It'll never die. Sir.

  • i heard this song on next sunday i think its good

  • i remember blastin this all day out the window in 6th grade lol im madd young lol...but this is real music not talentless noise makin like lil wayne and them.1

  • i agree. but all you kids write the same thing "lil wayne sux lil wayne dat lil wayne dat" just shut up

  • i understand what ur sayin about we all say lil wayne suck but if u were still in high school and have to hear these people talk about music like they kno anything....i mean look at 10 random myspace pages 8 out of 10 will have something that says music is my life but then they have a flo rida or tpain song on their profile....to me thats not music because theirs no purpose behind it...thats jus my opinion

  • i agree biatch

  • All music has a purpose....I have yet to find a purpose for classical music like Beethoven, but I am sure its there. Music is life and no matter what genre' or type it is, even vulgar and obscene music, lets us know we are alive and not alone in such a lonely world.

  • well spoken, i agree !!!!

  • ya need ta stop hatin that boy'll is representiiiing

  • dis trak sound betta in first sunday wen its fast

  • Another artist that makes me love hip-hop! All I can say is amazing talent!

  • Wish this shit was on Getting up hopefully it will be on the sequel

  • sounds like a kanye production =D

  • he did

  • very underrated....we need more MC's like him in the industry....

  • Real Hip Hop is rare in this times

  • Keep coming from the heART Talib!

  • what're u talkin about talib aint under rated everyone knows hes the dopest, atleast everybody who listen to good music

  • He is underrated, this man is one of the most dopest lyricalists and still mainstream rappers with their south crunk beats getting probs for their work..fuck that!

Just put "laffy taffy people" in a room full of stupid persons who want to listen to the same old shit every ten seconds!

This man Talib kweli should get more respect in the scene. I ain't saying he's the best but he's one of the best!

    Respect

  • word

  • Go fuck yourself with your 50 cent raps! Silly fuck swearing on the internet and calling people names! Go dig your grandmother and fuck her in her boney ass! And besides that I ain't american, BITCH!

  • you aren't even worth commenting on largeballs, but I will anyways. don't even start on Americans, trust me no nationality is better than the other, they all are messed up. how the hell dare you tell him to graduate, like you know him, all you see is a black man and he is rapping OHP, that must mean he cant accomplish anything. you make me sick...I sincerely hope someone does you a favor and pushes you off that bridge in the background.

  • never have i heard him spit that he was the best man....what does it matter that he's american or not, like any other country has a more diverse muscial background than we do, matter of fact, if your not american and your making fun of american's i bet some of your people from whatever culture your from are here. and you don't know the brotha, you have no idea whether he graduated or not.

  • Classic shit. Most underrated hiphop artist.

  • First of all why would u even bring lil wayne into a conversation involvin Kweli....thats like comparin Kobe to Shaq they totally diff Wayne is a commercial rapper and Kweli is a conscious rapper Lil wayne lyrically does suck but im not gonna hate because he makes shit that people now a days likes....i personally think his music is garbage and isnt hip hop but more of a mix between rap and pop RAP is diff than HIP HOP thats wat people forget he can be the best rapper alive but best emcee never

  • Amen!

    ;).

  • amen

  • I`d like to see a track by Krs-one ft Immortal technique.Their flows have a resemblance.

  • i really thought this was the clean version for JUST TO GET 'HIGH'.....but I love this song...........

  • anyone know when Lupend begins?

  • Talib Kweli Papoose Immortal Technique Nas Kanye Mos Def Common Lupe Fiasco kno real rap

  • He is just trying to make money man, remember (C.R.E.A.M).

And when he wants to,he can be a pretty-good lyricist.(heard em say).Though,he is cocky as fuck!

  • don't forget asheru and unspoken heard...

  • great song... love this song to death

  • amazing lyricist.

  • The Best Rapper Alive is Immortal Technique by far.He represents every aspect of hip hop.Hes a mix of concious, and gangsta and revolutionary

  • Woo!immortal tech!

He is in my top 3 favorite mc =D,but i don` think he is the best rapper alive.Sure he can entertain you if you like the quiet but powerful type of rap,but at some point it get`s boring.

  • I agree with most of y'all...But Wayne being decent? That's a freakin joke. Wayne's garbage...That mofo steal rap lines from Jay-Z, Biggie, Aliya and other stars.

And no lyrics, rhymes aren't all that good...And they don't make sense.

Listen to "I'm Me" why's that foo rapping about K-Fed for? He comparing himself? I guess but K-Fed's just a wanna be rapper. Wayne's a strait up fool for doing that.

  • I agree with you but you gotta admit,(im me and best rapper alive) have great beats to play hoops.

  • Yeah but think about Wayne comparatively to his time - he sucks compared to the mainstream rappers of 3 or 4 years ago - but the game always changes. Unfortunately, it's getting worse. Kweli along with Kanye are my favorite rap artists. 50 Cent has always made good songs, and his skill is gradually making him seem like an artist to me.

  • Wayne makes sense. I guess your too stupid to understand him. He's not even that complex and you couldnt understand the K-Fed line?! You're fucking retarded seriously. He was calling the RAP GAME a crazy bitch like Britney Spears but he's married to it like Kevin Federlin. I ain't no dick rider but Wayne haters are so close minded and ignorant it makes me sick. GTFO here. Stupid fuck...

  • Dick riders are even dumber, remember that.

  • uhmmmmm wayne raps about the same thing so his lyrical content is not deep or complex. I would love to see wayne up his vocab adn rap about shit that matters. And the K-Fed line? Dude that shit was weak.

  • Dude he raps about money, cars, and girls. That matters to alot of people. Just because he isnt "socially conscious" doesnt automatically mean he sucks. He has more clever and funny punch lines than Nas and Talib Kweli combined. His metaphors are impressive and he has decent tracks. He aint the best, but he don't suck. Personally I don't think he deserves all the hype he's got but he's allowed some respect.

  • Uh...Nas aint a punchline rapper to begin wit. Wanye punches are corny as hell. He garbage...Talib on another level. Only thing Wanye needs respect for is bein a household name and suckin so bad but then again 50 pulled it off...

  • True,very true.

I`ve only heard very few punchlines from nas,i know that *got yourself a gun* and One mic have like 1 or 2.

  • i agree wit you on a level, but to call a brotha garbage, he deserves more respect than that, personally i think lil wayne is not a top artist in lyrical sense, and should be catagorized somewhere in the middle....but i have mad respect for him because of the status that he obtained, even though he doesn't really deserve all of it, to be so popular that people in other countries spits your tracks....that's pretty sweet ... and a rapper none-the-less

  • Love it!

  • OMgg DhISz MAhh ShIt I 4GOt All AbOUt DhIs 1.!

BUhh I StiLL LOve DiS SONqq.!

  • rock, hip hop, emo(lol).....call it wat u want. if ya lyk da music then its ur choice...personaly i lyk kanye, N.E.R.D, common nd artist lyk dat but i just dont name it.i just LYK them.....not sayin dat i dont lyk da classics lyk wu-tang or evn a lil bit of jay-z tho :D

  • This song gets better every time I hear it... Talib Kweli is just amazing!

  • omfg... dude... READ before u make stupid comments..

I said "without Kanye they wouldnt be making music NOW.. at this moment." they both havent made a big track for a couple years, then Kanye started working with them, and they were back again...

pls.. READ before u start talking sh*t

  • W0W I.q Y00hh GOt kRUNkk.!

    DUhh.

    l0l.

  • Yea the version on the Chapelle show was waaayy better. Oh well still a song about the struggle. Rise Up!

  • what is the tilte of song, where talib is sining "they came and they fall, 4 the rest of our life will miss you..."?? thx 4 help

  • I've always loved this song..But just found out that Ye produced it. Kanye is HOT!!!

  • Thank You for sonning that kid...u almost forgot the fortified live shit though lol...fuckin kids today have no concept of hip hop and I'm only 24...we are the last generation of cats who appreciate what this whole hip hop thing is supposed to stand for...Kayne West pssshhhh!....Damn!

  • most these newer gens listening to is waack, but hey lol gud news u noe bboys appreciate real hip hop yee young cats too! :D

  • 16 yrs. old and I hate the mainstream Weezy and Rick Ross Bullshit. Talib, MF DOOM, Nas, Lupe, Mos, Common, Wale, Wax, Atmosphere, Blu & Exile, Eternia, well you get the point. But for the most part you're right, the kids my age are the No. 1 buyers of music and they buy bad rap music they hear on MTV along with Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift. Rap is pop music now and people don't listen to real hip-hop like they should.

  • WORDDD,n props to you, 16y.o. but your mind hasnt bin brainwashed lol! i think we need a new genre for the mainstream stuff, your right, it is pop (more or less), i hate having to differentiate btwn REAL hip hop and weezy, souljaboy, etc, when i say hip hop i want the REAL part to be assumed! we gota call the other stuff Hip-POP or sumtin lol.

  • Yeah and then there's the decent rappers who would be in the bad hip hop category because they're brainwashed from record labels and MTV. Weezy has some, minimal, but some talent. He's got good flow, he makes sense, and he uses good imagery and decent metaphors at the same time. I'll defend Weezy anyday. I'll never defend Soulja Boy unless someone claims he's not easy to make fun of. Talib is the sickest rapper in the game right now.

  • Yeah yeah speak the truth. Wayne is actually kind of decent. Atmosphere is the shit. Aesop Rock will tear apart anybody and everybody on MTV.

  • I agree on Atmosphere and Aesop Rock, but after "Lollipop" and "Millie" I'm fucking done with trying to get into Wayne. Forever, I didn't see why everyone was all over him, I kept trying to like his shit but I just couldn't. It just never had a lasting effect on me the way that real hip-hop does

  • Listen to "Dr. Carter" and "Tie My Hands" at least. Probably the two best tracks on the album, and they showcase Lil Wayne at his best (in a straightforward sense--I like "A Milli" for its intentional weirdness). "Mr. Carter" and "Shoot Me Down" are also pretty good, and Jay-Z kills the former. I never liked Lil Wayne, but he impressed me. He's improving for sure. And I think Aesop is as overrated as Lil Wayne. He can rap, but he definitely could stand to be a BIT more straightforward.

  • Rap has always been pop type music

    Talib is Hip hop

if you got on billboard charts it says hip hop/rap meaning it`s not the same but falls under 1 category(even though rap went astray)

Rick Ross is aight but he a cop so i don`t believe nothing he says hence i won`t pay attention to his ass

  • The irony is, of course, that Kanye produced this track.

Let's be nice to Kanye. He's basically the ONLY new mainstream rapper making top-notch music at this point. Three great records is nothing to overlook.

  • Lupe fiasco?

  • Love this video sooooooo much. I was 13 when it came out. Thank you for uploading it.

  • Kanye West is off the chain man.

  • maslo przestan

  • 2:40-3:00 is amazing!!! this song saved my life

  • one word sums up this vid:

    BEASTNESS

  • this is the best

  • This album was solid !

  • 2007

  • im in love with this song

  • this woulda been such an awesome track for GTA 4.

  • it woulda been if da main character was black

  • This music is awesome. One of the best songs i've ever heard

  • what year that song?

  • 2002.

  • OMG IM IN LUVE... WITH THE SONG!!

  • amaizing song.

  • muito bom,muitobbom,muitobbom,muito bom,do karalho.

  • this songs bumpin

  • Talib, Common, Kanye, Nas, Jay Z, The Roots, Pharoahe Monch, Hi Tek, and Mos Def are the only true hip hop artists left. (Sorry if I left out anyone, I can't think of anyone else at the moment lol)

  • Lupe Fiasco, Papoose, Chamilionaire, Z-ro etc

  • immortal technique.

otherwise I'm with you on the rest

  • KRS One too, almost forgot about him, and I'm not a big fan of Chamilionaire, I don't think he puts as much thought into his music as the afore mentioned people do.

  • blu

  • common, talib, are good but i dont like kanye he sounds too mainstream and thinks he too good

  • yea he does sound a bit too mainstream at times but at least its not finger snappin music

  • TALIB MAINSTREAM?! WHAT THE HELL?! NAW YOU WRONG ABOUT THAT. HE IS FAR FROM MAINSTREAM. ESPACIALY THIS SONG. RU LISTENING TO THE LYRICS?

We sell, crack to our own out the back of our homes

We smell the musk at the dusk in the crack of the dawn

We go through "Epidodes II," like "Attack of the Clones"

Work 'til we break our back and you hear the crack of the bone

To get by.. just to get by

THIS SONG HAS A MESSAGE LISTEN.

  • I was talkin bout Kanye man, calm down lol No need to type in caps lol

  • caps? I'm not yellin at you yo. Just sayin. Calm down

  • Ps. That caps mess is played

  • Wutever man

  • dont actually understand the message. explain ?

  • 1love4zaion...

The explanation I can give you to this song is this...

We all do things just to get by...

Weither their legal, illegal, work until we feel like dying, work till we cant work no longer. We all do things just to get by in this life...

We all have our own reasoning for things but we all do things just to get by.

Hope that was a ok explanation to your question.

  • thx that was deep man !!

  • no problem man...

    Glad I could help.

check out my music an lemme know what ya think.

  • Common has been rapping since the late eighties.

  • ya mam was in it too!!!! ahahahahahaahhahaah lol

  • Love this song!!!!

  • dis is my shii!

  • where u gon run to

    all on that day!

  • sick !!

  • amen to that.

  • daaam. this is what I cal fo' real rap

  • Great combo, great song. One Love

  • Rap and hip hop can be as pure and moving as any music genre but it is currently connected to the image of the gangsta rapper.

Gangsta rappers arose as kind of a hero figure to the ghetto community. But there is nothing heroic about the gangsta figure anymore. The image promotes ignorance, macho sexist behavior, and excess. Its kind of like how 80s metal got associated with the image of the hair band. I think hip hop and rap really needs to evolve past the gangsta image.

  • where can i find the embedded version?????????

  • its just sad that guys like talib and mos def get ignored and pushed under the shadow created by these whack as fuck mainstream dudes like wayne boosie and gucci mane. shit is so sad.

  • i felt u on everything u said except boosie... u prolly on heard boosie on the radio.. listen to his mixtapes n shit.. boosie go hard as hell.. n hes realer than 90 percent of rappers... but these dudes are hip hop.. ppl dont kno the difference n on hip hop stations they play rap... thats y

  • that second verse was pure fire

  • These are the songs that should be exposed to Main-Stream.

More people are starting to reliaze that...

"It isnt cool to be stupid"...

    Save HIP-HOP....

    Before we lose it.

  • personally,.. its beauty and brutality cos the music is beautiful but what is describes in the lyrics is not so pleasant similar to what we do just to I.E. - "get by".... u know what i'm saying.

  • Man what i love about this song is ..........its from the HEART, its the truth and its words of wisdom ....GREAT SONG

  • love it!

  • rocko was smart for using this chorus in dis morning

  • good point tevra42 about rocko

  • this is one of the greatest songs of all time in my opinion.. I really wish Hip hop can return to this and I wish Kanye would make beats like this again......

did anybody notice kanye in a couple of shots in the video?? I always find it interestin
