Actually, you'll find that the fact there's a deficit proves that there is a revenue problem. And closing the tax loopholes should be a priority, it's a grey area that's being abused, therefore it should be made black and white. And actually, you'll find that jobs are created whether you're taxing the rich or not.. because if you're taxing them personally, they'll opt for shares, which they have to sell, driving the market. Whether the jobs are from large companies or small, there will be jobs.

The sane approach to the budget deficit would be to slash defense spending to the ground, pull out from Iraq and Afghanistan, immediately, close the tax loopholes and tax the upper 50% of incomes by an additional.. 25% across the board.
