I have this on VCR from way back great to see Pip, I was sure there was one screening from TOTP that had Phil Miller sitting on the floor in the background for one of DS's hits!
@philllb That's interesting to hear that Jimmy Ruffin said that. I also love this version. It has a brilliant haunting feel to it. I'll never forget when it was in the charts in 1981, it was played alot on Australian radio. The worst version of this song is by Paul Young (too weak).
Thanks so much MoodyFennec, there is not much Blunstone material from the seventies. I saw Colin, Rod and Jim yesterday in Breda, went there being sceptic but they turned out amazing. Sounding far better than the YT vids from the concerts earlier this year suggest, and it was all very, very professional. They also visibly enjoyed themselves.
Colin is the sweetest guy in the world and Rod looks a good 44, he's actually 64 years old, I couldn't believe my eyes. What's his secret!
MoodyFennec, I'm pretty sure that you made a lot of Colin's fans very happy with your upload. This clip was on YT some time ago, and then it disappeared and never came back.

@Grum51 (At least, I'm assuming it's the one you're referring to - it's outside at night and clearly quite cold, but I don't think it's raining...)

ever hear a song or a version of a song and love it instantly?
this is the ultimate version of this very atmospheric song, jimmy ruffin himself said this was the version he would choose.

I wonder what he is laughing about? He is looking at something or someone out in the audience, then cracks up. Oh, if only......
