i grew up right down the street from st annes i used to cut the grass there too. me and a few friends used to do photo shoots for their cars there.. was a great scene and hated to see it go!! i don't think i'll ever get to see it like it was before in my life time..
and another thing, with wallbrook shown to be the residence of autistics, down syndrome victims, and all, but my question is: Where did they get them from and what happened to them after Wallbrook wrapped up, oh by the way did anyone watching Rain Man noticed that there were only two staff - Dr. Brunner and V-E-R-N, considering there were many, many more Wallbrook residents besides Raymond?
I'm sure taping at "Wallbrook" took only a day or two. While I really have no idea, I'm guessing the nuns probably took a bus to the local casinoes in nearby Indiana for the day or two that filming was taking place, just like in the movie Sister Act.
Just kidding, of course.
The nuns likely simply stayed at one end of the compound while the production crew used the opposite end.
It is located right off of River Road (also known as Rt 8), in Campbell County. The convent, St. Annes, is located between the two communities of Silver Grove & Melbourne, which are both tiny river communities in Ky. Rt 8 runs right through both of them. If you are heading southeast, away from the downtown Cincinnati area, the location will be on your right. The tall trees lining the long driveway may be gone now, as the convent had planned on cutting them down. You can mapquest St. Anne Drive.
I planted some new trees in that line to eventually replace the old ones. That was about 13 years ago. My wife grew up about a mile away from there. NICE
Unfortunately, the convent (the actual site location) has decided to cut down most, if not all of those huge trees lining that stretch of road leading up to the main building. Apparently some of the trees are diseased or are rotting and are posing a safety risk, so they're being removed.
