He isn't good or evil, but essential to the Universe and time and time again he will fight to protect it, as he's done in Chaos War, Thanos Imperative, Annihilation, Infinity Gauntlet or from his own creation Tyrant.

Honestly he feels very guilty about wiping out the planets of civilizations because he himself was once mortal but he knows he must survive and by doing so serves a greater purpose.
