James Franco/Harry Osbourn is the only character that makes the third movie WATCHABLE because it was freakin' terrible and cheesy as hell otherwise. Franco acts all of the others off the canvas, and I always liked Harry as a character. Easy on the eyes too, and he was super cool as the hobgoblin.

I don't know, Hobgoblin from comics was mostly orange and gray not black. I think the new goblin was created just for the film, a way of making Harry taking his father's Goblin armor, glider, etc. as in comics but making them different, for not repeating "villain" I guess.

How come Harry didn't go insane when he had the Goblin Formula?

The character had serious mental issues before taking the Goblin Formula, in both movie and comics. In comics, he became even crazier when took the GF; in the movie... well, I guess it was a mistake of the script.

O maybe the GF never had that effect of "making insane", just putting out the taker's anger. Norman had more hidden anger so the GF put it out in a more aggresive way (a Jeckyll/Hyde thing), but Harry knew and accepted his anger so the GF didn't affected him so much... I guess, dunno

Yeah, I do miss him too, and James Franco was awesome. I don't know how Spidey movie will be without him (they will need a new good dramatic plot now Harry isn't there for angst). As for Peter... well, he still has Mary Jane, hasn't he? I would love they bring Harry back, but they already did it in comics and it looked awful so... I almost prefer him with that dramatic and beautiful death, though I'll always miss him.

My guess is that people before the movie came out that Harry would end up being "Hobgoblin" like in Ultimate Spidey. Maybe "New Goblin" was a mix of new and old Goblin's?

IMHO, the New Goblin was kind of a new character, which had traces of the old Goblins like you said, but renovated with Matrix style (not green nor orange colour but black, new green sword and that "sky stick" that looked like a surfboard). I guess they didn't want to repeat the GGoblin character in Harry, but they wanted a darker character than Hobgoblin (maybe a mix of the GG and Batman? Total black, will of revenge, old butler). The Hobgoblin wouldn't have looked good for a real action movie

I like all the Goblins. Mcfarlane's drawings of the Hobgoblin were the best description of the character imo. Worn, paranoid, insane and wearing a very tatty costume. But alas, I think for new, movie based Spidey fans, 2 goblins are enough.

I really felt for Harry though. I wanted him to find some peace. But overall I liked and respected how he made all attempts, no matter how insane, to up himself for something he believed in. Or believed had to do.

You're right, Harry was a tormented character, very dramatic. And I agree, two goblins in the movieverse are enough... but I would like seeing Norman resurrecting like in comics and being a pain in poor Pete's ass (just as Norman, as was in comicverse). Maybe in Spidey 4 or 5, if they're made.
