This was really an awesome race. A field full of stellar stayers, indeed. Not often you'll see the likes of horses like Alandi, Schiaparelli, Clowance, and Profound Beauty all in the same field together!!

Really good effort by Clowance at Newbury to win the 2010 St Simon Stakes. Off of the track since April, 2010. Where she was a well beaten 11th behind Harbinger in the Surprise Stakes at Newbury. She beat a very good field in the St Simon. Poet, who ran very well for 2nd in his first start ever at 12+ furlongs, Whispering Gallery, La De Two, Dreamspeed, Ted Spread, Jedi, and Hot Prospect. Clowance is tough filly, with stamina a plenty. IMO.

I thought Shiaparelli would win this race. 1mile 6furlongs is usually about Shiaparelli's ideal distance for the races he wins. He just faded in the final furlong, allowing Alandi and Clowance to get by.
