  • 0:50 ron weasly!!!!!!!!!!

  • guys stop bitchin, the sound awesome i give a f*** bout their pronounciation,

besides they are children and probably never learned any latin before

  • well, latin is hard to pronounce correctly for ANYone!! Even germans! And Italians is doing it in new italian style...so language of wisdom or not...........! By the way, a lot of us understands very much of the words anyhow!!!!!

  • I'm surprised that a British church choir has such pronounced diphthongs in their Latin: Gow-daay-taay rather than Gow-deh-teh. Listen to the Kings' Singers sing this. But this is a great arrangement and they have a beautiful blend.

  • @hepzebahsu We just got the sheet music and it says to pronounce it that way (we're not going to however)

  • Harris shines !!!

  • I don't find their pronunciation bad, actually, though I'm not that familar with this form of Latin. Ecclesiastical Latin is pronounced differently to the language the ancient Romans spoke - it's more like Italian. Hence things like 'virgine' - in the ancient language, that would be pronounced 'weerginnay', but in religious music 'veerjinay' is normal.

Makes the classicist in me shudder a little bit, but that's the way it's meant to be! ;)

  • Who gives a f*ck about the pronounciation when they sing so absolutely beautifully!

One of my absolute favourite songs.

  • Beautiful...............wish it was longer.

  • Heaven!

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • wow...that's incredible.

  • I've now listened to probably 15 different versions of "Gaudete" on YouTube - following the recommendations of other users - but I still think this is by far the most beautiful version. :-)

  • The tambour should be way faster. I did this with my choir and the best version I have found so far is by the Mediaeval Baebes.

  • The inward smile of the boy at 1:13 is cute. He's so excited. ^^

  • this is amazing.... erm... do they only sing the first 2 verses? it would have been nice if they did the whole thing.

  • Tempus ad est gratiae hoc quod optabamus,

    Carmina laetitiae devote redamus!!!!

  • Gaudete, gaudete

  • Stunning intro by Adam. Whole rendition just wonderful. Thank you. This is one I always return to..!

  • children are so cute =) <3 i love them

  • what?

  • so sweet ♥

  • If I closed my eyes, I would've thought women sung the song.

  • we r singing this but our song is longer and its all in latin

  • Yeah if I remember correctly it has 4 verses... And I can only remember two. The first and the third... Though the translation we did was different...

  • When I was in a school, we sang the verses in english, why? idk...

  • @DemonicRemption what is it in english because we r singing it 2moz

  • Gaudeamus!

  • omg love it!

  • LOL! They're awesome!!!

Gaudete gaudete christus ex natus ex marie (I probably haven't spelt it right) I LOVE this song!

  • nearly. it's "christus EST" and mariA ;)

  • Rejoice Rejoice

  • Very good for what it is, but I find this song really does benefit from some nice booming tenor and bass. Performed in a gothic church by a good SATB choir, there's nothing as can beat this song.

  • oh my god, it's so wonderful i really had to cry

  • Most excellent. Gentlemen...I thank you. You have accomplished a great deal and have much to be satisfied and proud of. You are an inspiration to my nine children. May God continue to bless you all.

  • What a wonderful song!!!!!!!!!

    So addicted :)

  • I'm addicted, too.

  • Me, too!

  • Wonderful! :)

  • Wow they sure give Enya a run for her money!

  • this is an amaizing video!!

    Wonderfull

    fantastic

    he did that very well

  • Thank you again Lads, my oldest son is now in Afghanistan in the same hell hole place his brother was, I take comfort in your singing this, my prayer for his and his mens safety.

  • glasswizzard; Amen Amen. My prayers are with you friend

  • omg that boy at the beggining is amazing !

he really do sound like an angel <3

  • wow thats good lots of hard work when in to that song

  • Bravissimi!!!!

  • Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

What a pity they only sang the first and last verse though.

  • They do quite well, wherever they're from. Latin is a really hard language to pronounce, lest you're from say.. Italy or such? Finns do quite well too, since we pronounce our words the way they're written, as latin is often (not in all cases) pronounced. The "r" they use is particulaly hard for someone who's used to pronouncing english

  • latin is a dead language. No one knows fore shure how it is pronounced to day, so stop making such a foss about it, just enjoy it. I love this carol! (if any miss spellings, excuse me, I am a dane.) Good job lads! 5* from me...

  • I think all those guys had to work really hard to get to the level they are at in this performance.

They did amazing and Adam's solo was miraculous.

Liam is a wonderful soloist as well :)

    ~Connie

  • ok, its sound absolutly terrible if americany try to sing latin,

a dump folk should not try using the language of wisdom

  • ...except that they're not American. I find their pronunciation quite good, but German tastes might be different.

  • Wow...how about some research? Try that Libera/Angel Voices is from South London in England. You just got corrected by a "dumb American" by the way.

  • @Sumpfdolde i thought they were great,

  • @Sumpfdolde The song is about Jesus and Maria. Jesus... u know, who died for our us. Those children try to sing a song about this person. It is unacceptable to talk like this about people, who have this kind of motivation! Greetings from Hungary

  • @Sumpfdolde Well, aren't we pretentious. For God's sake, just enjoy this beautiful song and the brilliant voices. Who cares if the pronounciation isn't perfect?! They didn't major in Latin, they're kids. Oh, and by the way, they're not American either. Check your facts.

  • @Sumpfdolde Don't be a hater... plenty of us Americans can annunciate Latin perfectly. And we are not dump or dumb for that matter. Perhaps if you expanded your horizons beyond your backyard you would see this.

  • Love this kid voice....:)

  • Liam was an awesome soloist, but i like Adam's high note more

  • Angel voices, I wonder........

    Divine5*

  • I played this video every night whilst my second son was serving in Helmand prov Afghanistan,(oct - april)

I never was one much for praying so this brilliant team of lads did it for me through thier singing, Big Thank You Lads, he's now home safe, His older Bro goes there in september, Guess i'll be calling upon ur services again fella's.

  • Touching :) Thanks!

  • Have performed this before, enjoyed this presentation immensely. Noted most of the pans had spelling errors in them. Coincidence? It's a good arrangement for excellent harmonies.

  • i love the version from deadcry^^

  • man... lovely choir voices ruined by cheesy 1990's synths and electronic drums

  • omg !!! THEY IS ANGEL 0_0

  • Sweet! Great job! Can you all be my pen friends?

  • Sweet! Great job! Can you all be my pen friends?

  • omg the soloist was very good

  • Precisely the reason he was given the solo!

  • i rather Gaudete by Anuna, but this is not bad =)

  • annua's verison is horriblle

  • Wow! Fab version of this song.

  • very good heard so meny versons of gaudete and this is the best one by far

  • In a word ~ celestial !

  • very nice

  • stunning! I wish I could see this in person:)

  • Magical. Absolutely beautiful!

  • How I wish boys did not have to go through puberty. This is magic here. It's a shame they'll lose it. Simply Magical.

  • thats Joe Spears at the back far left

  • not sure but i think that is me at the back far left, Joe Spears.

    can anyone confirm this?

  • well i must have listened to 50 versions of this now, and none of them beat this one, keep on singing lads, ur bringing happiness to people all over. excellent

  • Amazing

  • Absolotely beautiful.....

  • I'm in love with this version.

  • I'm in love with this version. I play it several times a day. The Medieval and Renaissance Christmas carols are the most wonderful. I love Riu Riu Chiu also.

  • sola fide, sola gratia, solus Christus, soli Deo gloria

  • I'm not familiar with it, but I like it. Thanks.

  • Not heard this version before. Powerful stuff! :)

  • this might be the best version there is

  • I agree.

  • Beautiful.

  • I prefer my choirs version where ver verse is soloed by a different person.I am doing verse 3 this eveing.....

  • omg wie niedlich XD

  • amazing gulp! I'm singing this on Sunday...better practice some more

  • Holy crap! They're better than my choir. I'm in the best of the best at my school. That's scary

  • Couple of them really getting into it there.

  • Beautful!!!!!!!!!!

  • Why is it that young boys make better sopranos than professional trained singers? Absolutely beautiful!

  • That's why they used to create castrati. The most beautiful voices in history--a boy soprano with the lungs of a man. The contrast between such cruelty and such beauty is heartwrenching.

  • because their voices haven't hit puberty yet

  • The solo was excellent!

  • This is pretty. We aren't near as good as them.

  • wow those kids have high voices! ive never heard it with the drums in the background, but it's realy good :D especialy for a young boy's choir. 5/5 :DDD i don't think our school choir is half that good :D

  • dam your choir is hella good then.

  • Magnifique,

dommage qu'ils soit froqués comme des juifs...

  • i think they have got amazing voices but the one who is nodding his head with singing gaudete is funny x.x :P

  • lol nice...somehow...its nice...

  • wow *5

  • WOW.

They are better than my whole choir of over 60 people.

We are the concert choir, (best aside from chamber) and they pwn us. u_u

  • Wonderful....

  • This is BEAUTIFUL! O_O

  • Excellent but struggling with the tenor end of the range.

  • at what point? sounds good to me.

  • since when have soprano singers been tenors?????? & when did you last see kids smiling like these lot whilst singing???

  • its a nice song

  • beauty at its best

  • how i can find thier muzic?

  • Probably one of the best versions ever sung and recorded, well done, great post!

  • I couldn't be more agree with you, beautiful song, and amazing performance

  • Probably one of the best versions ever recorded - well done, great post!

  • WOOW

  • o_0 WOW!!! Their GREAT!!!

  • When and where was this actualy filmed, this is the most brilliant tear jerking piece of singing thats yet fallen upon my ears, I hope these guys are still singing

  • They certainly are! (Though not the same boys of course.)

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Steeleye Span have a hit with this some years ago?

    Annie :)

  • Certainly did Annie - check out their version here on YouTube, makes the hair on your arms stand on end. Peace.

  • Yes Steelye Span did, and I have the track - it doesn't sound as good as this though

    ;-)

  • I wish he had more solos because he has such a beautiful voice!

  • holy crap that was outstanding.

    =D

  • Excellent.

  • Congratulations ! This is outstanding ! Phalaïna

  • The translation of the carol Chorus:- Gaudete,Gaudete, Christus est natus, Rejoice Rejoice Christ is born Ex Marua Virginae Gaudete Of the Virgin Mary Rejoice Ch- Gaudete etc. Tempus ad et Gratiae hoc quodoptabamus The time of Grace is here, that which we desire Carmina laetitiae devote redamus Let us recite with devotion a song of joy. Ch- Gaudete etc.
  • verses 3+4 Deus Homo Factus est naturam eralite God is made man in erring nature Mundus renovatus est a Christo regnante The world is restored by the reinging Christ. Ch- Gaudete etc. Ezecheclis porta clausa per transitor Passing through Ezekial's closed gate Unde lux est orta sallus invenitor Whence The Light has risen salvation has appeared. Ch- Gaudete etc.
  • Final verse

Ergo nostra coutio psallat jam in lustro

Therefore we now sing our hymn in brightness

    Benedicat Domino sallus Regi nastro

May it bless The Lord our Saviour King.

    Ch- Gaudete etc.

    A 12th or 13th century Carol

I made a typing error in the chorus it should be Ex Maria Virginae Gaudete not Marua!

  • Another typing error this too (quodoptabamus)

    should be quodo ptabamus

  • I'm wiccan too but somehow i love this song!!

  • Thats because its a great song...

  • Yeah, british "Thomaner boys"! At least they are quite good as them.

  • very nice

  • Probably the best pronounced Latin as well as great musical talent.

  • It was well performed, I didn't like the latin though actually. Their t sounds were far too aspirated.

  • Be ashamed of your self!! It's not the words but the sound, the words are properly pronounced because it's an old Christmas Song.. That is why its not pronounced with accent.. I like the tone of LIAM!! Good Job Boys!!!

  • Fabulous! They are singing an old Christmas carol in LATIN!

  • that was absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!!

  • Great song, but i dont like the english accent in the latin texts...

  • oh my... that was beautiful... I wonder how you are now Adam.... xD thanks for sharing...
