Anyway it is nothing more than a harvest festival which is celebrated everywhere on earth and I think he is mixing it up with 4th July to be honest.

@WillShakespeare2007 I was remarking on what the Pilgrims were most definitely grateful for, namely, they survived and completed their objective and were living prosperously. So in a sense you are right, but I think that survival and success are essential to prosperity right? Thanksgiving in itself is not a specifically religious holiday, but I think for the pilgrims a key component of what constituted their thanks included a religious aspect.

I dont think he is mixing it up with July 4th but I dont think he truly understands thanksgiving either. In celebrating their prosperity I think it is safe to say they thanked God for more than just food. I think safety and success in their undertaking was probably high up on the list too

However the celebration itself is just a harvest festival celebration which they'd have celebrated in the U.K. - we still do but we collect food and give it to the poor not have a big meal like the states. It's originally pagan.

He was not born with natural talent but earned it through years of hard work and practice, like any truly great sportsman.

@RelaxItsJustAFlare I don't think he really had an impact on soccer in the U.S. The popularity of said sport in the country hasn't expanded one bit since he arrived. Soccer just isn't as popular to Americans as football or baseball. Beckham has gotten too much publicity which is quite unfair because there are lots of more talented players than him like Zidane or Ronaldinho who haven't been given as much attention. Note, France and Brazil have recently won the world cup while England hasn't.
