  • The best part about the video... the kid is just thinking, what the fuck is going on?

  • lmao nice song, hilarious video but they dont really match. at all.

  • is the priest howie mandel?

  • wow if you really made this video, I like it a lot less now that I know you're a self important prick.

  • i went to see the weakerthans live at lollapalooza 08...they had bus trouble and couldnt come.....i cried...

  • I would too.

  • I would too.

  • ahhaha video too good for life.

  • This is one of my top favorite videos of all time. It's freakin awesome!!!

  • Check out our "Live on Albert Street" videos for more Winnipeg-centric fun.

    - The Waking Eyes

  • I am so sad I was fucking DEAD when The Weakerthans played late at night on Hurricane Festival. Just awesome!

  • man, this song is ace! do still play it live? :D

  • they played it at virgin festival in toronto yessterday :):)

  • cool. would love to see them play that live someday. (tho that's just wishful thinking for now haha). thanks aulnaie for the info :D

  • "I know you might roll your eyes at this

But I'm so glad that you exist"

    THAT IS GENIUS.

  • man, i love these guys, and great video!

  • my most favouritest song ever.

  • can I ask why?

  • 'Cause it's awesome, probably. It's definitely up there in my top 10 songs.

  • haha I don't know...someone said this song reminded them of me...and I didn't understand why...

  • I guess you should feel honored. Cherish the guy or the gal who made you that compliment!

  • yeah I was just trying to figure that out. Some of the lines in the song seem very apparent but than others who knows hehe thank you though I will :)

  • These guys are awesome! I'm looking forward to hearing them live this summer!

  • breeeeh bittim gaciye beyaaaa

  • the girl in th office reminds of Mary Jane from spider man and the guy in the office reminds of the guy incharge of the paper in spider man

  • J. Jonah Jameson

  • ok thats just ok

  • The Weakerthans ROCK!!!

  • he looks like the mayor of Winnipeg. Sam Katz. The Weakerthans are from Winnipeg.

  • i hate zach dasher

  • The main characteer reminds me of a attention obsesed kid who moved from my class(thank god!!!) good music though.

  • i heard this song years ago on the radio, but i had no idea who it was..

the first song that i knew was the weakerthans was civil twilight, which is way worse than this

  • i just saw this band at a festival and they were the best band there by far and tokyo police club was the next best there

  • Weakerthans are my favorite non rap group, and i have all their albums, and have seen them live 3 times, but i am curious about this video.

1)i doubt that is John K, did the weakerthans act in this?

2)if the man in the video is a detective, howcome they choose that occupation for a song ...since the song is on the album Reconstruction site, it should be a gov't leader or something, cause the album is about urban developement

  • He's not supposed to be a lawyer?

  • The weakerthans are all the cops in the station.

john k is sitting at the desk on the right at the back.

    with a really sweet moustache.

  • The album is about urban development... Uhhhh, I'm not so sure. If the album's about anything it's the hospital patient.

I LOVE this song so much, and this band.

  • This album is more about the pain and struggle caused by consciousness, and the dialectic between life's beauty and the pain of death's looming.

Note that the only guy not dancing is the greaser dude. That's because he's been sentanced to death (hence the priest's presence in the last scene). Everyone else NOT forced to contemplate their existance and life and death are embedded in their same old song and dance.

  • blah blah blah... thank you, john

  • Damn, good shit man. Seems spot on, hadn't thought of it that way.

  • It could also be a commentary on the prison industrial complex and the various institution's reliance on the production of criminals (thereby expanding the definition). "I'm so glad that you exist": they're all singing and dancing to the 'criminal'. If it wasn't for him, they wouldn't exist, as they do, as cops, lawyers, judges, prison guards, etc etc. Their is a conundrum between the legal system eliminating crime and relying on it for its existence (and continued profit, as is the trend).

  • This video is BEYOND great! It captures the true meaning of the song and shows the paradox between concept and reality. BRAVO, Weakerthans, BRAVO!

  • I loved this video, the facial expression on the greaser/criminal when he's being danced around makes me die everytime! HA HA, great parody stuff.

  • I love this guys expressions and dancing.

And the way the black haired guy is just like "what the hell" the whole time. XD

  • The video that started it all. For me at least. God bless The Wedge

  • Weakerthans = #1 band in the world,

    but NOT video-material apparently...

  • so coordinated

  • you need to grow up a few more years and realise it's supposed to be gay!

  • your words are beyond any reasoning so is this comment

  • this video rocks!

  • :D I am really not a fan of THAT video...

  • Absolutely fantastic!

  • that was awesome

  • man. i wish life was really like that...

  • I'm so glad this band exists.

  • The Weakerthans are great! Somehow this reminds me of the They Might Be Biants and their fabulous Don't Let Start video from a long time ago..

  • i love this band but im not a huge fan of this video

its way way to over the top

  • i went to their show in tempe, one of the best shows ive ever been to.

  • This video cracks me up... nicely done

  • I went to a weakerthans show last weekend. It was in a town of like 800 people oddly enough.

  • is it me or does this put u in a really good mood

  • No, it's not just you. This is awesome!

    Peace Bro!

  • HAHAHahahahHAH!! ... oh MAN!

  • this band is so awesome

  • Great song, great video, great band!

  • Sweet video, love the "retro-ness." Reminds me of a more lighthearted version of the Hip's video for My Music At Work.

  • awesome

  • this video is hilarious, i love the song too

  • Thanks for uploading

  • ohhh that video makes me smile

  • u mean it takes place in the 50's? i ment when was the video made

  • i love this osng, haha how old is it though, i saw that cell phone, its like talking into a brick

  • It was made in the 50's, actually.

  • Learn to take a joke, asshole.

  • You're serious? Was your childhood devoid of sarcasm? Learn it, love it, and use it... frequently.

  • The Weakerthans are great, probably my favorite band... but I just gotta say, they don't make very good music videos.

  • Hehehehehehehe GREAT band!!

  • i absolutely L-O-V-E this band!!!

  • i love this song and clip. I think the main guy is made to look and act like the annoying guy of groundhog day?

  • They also recorded alot of the music on Greg Graffins new solo album

  • wow I love the weakerthans. <3

  • they are on epitaph? weird

  • not really, considering the guy used to be in propaghandi.

  • really? Oh I didnt know that.

  • and propagandhi is on fat wreck...

  • Oh man thanks for putting this up!

  • Amazing lyrical flow as always
