I'm the guy in the video and I just posted a video I made of me at a Madonna concert. Check it out.
It's not as much fun as making this video. Thanks for all the nice comments and the best thing that happened making this video was falling in love with the Weakerthans. Who BTW are not in the video.
Weakerthans are my favorite non rap group, and i have all their albums, and have seen them live 3 times, but i am curious about this video.
1)i doubt that is John K, did the weakerthans act in this?
2)if the man in the video is a detective, howcome they choose that occupation for a song ...since the song is on the album Reconstruction site, it should be a gov't leader or something, cause the album is about urban developement
This album is more about the pain and struggle caused by consciousness, and the dialectic between life's beauty and the pain of death's looming.
Note that the only guy not dancing is the greaser dude. That's because he's been sentanced to death (hence the priest's presence in the last scene). Everyone else NOT forced to contemplate their existance and life and death are embedded in their same old song and dance.
It could also be a commentary on the prison industrial complex and the various institution's reliance on the production of criminals (thereby expanding the definition). "I'm so glad that you exist": they're all singing and dancing to the 'criminal'. If it wasn't for him, they wouldn't exist, as they do, as cops, lawyers, judges, prison guards, etc etc. Their is a conundrum between the legal system eliminating crime and relying on it for its existence (and continued profit, as is the trend).
damn! i can't stop listening to that song! awesome! and the video is hillarious! :)

The album is about urban development... Uhhhh, I'm not so sure. If the album's about anything it's the hospital patient.
I LOVE this song so much, and this band.

This video is BEYOND great! It captures the true meaning of the song and shows the paradox between concept and reality. BRAVO, Weakerthans, BRAVO!

I loved this video, the facial expression on the greaser/criminal when he's being danced around makes me die everytime! HA HA, great parody stuff.

No, I'm pretty sure you just have an IQ of 12, retard.
This is a video from sometime in the 2000-2003 bracket. It's designed to look retro. The Weakerthans were not around in the 50s, moron.
