As for what I want in a game? I just want MORE THIEF. So far TDS had the best gaming atmosphere for me. May be I should try amesia though, but i am too scarried. and Thief was not only about horror.

I don't understand why people complain that deadly shadows didn't have the spirit of the previous series. Why should it have? it's a different game and the story continues, if the story remains the same style it will become boring. Change is very important in games, keeps the player interested and adds new elements in the game. Personally i loved deadly shadows and enjoyed every minute of it. Luckily for all thief fans there will be a thief 4, wich will be out in 2011 or 2012. Can't wait for it!
@Sansiara It was smaller because it was on the Xbox consoles. It's tiny missions were all stuck together in a tiny little town that barely showed the shadows properly like they did in the Dark Engine strictly made for the PC versions. In otherwords, everyone complains about the gameplay perspective as not a change, but a setback. The story on the otherhand was that dark touch that you would expect from Looking Glass Studios.
I doubt that girl has anything to do with Thief 4, eventually. She was a nice detail in the end of Thief DS but she has no place in T4. She's just a figure passing by.
Doubt there's any good in speculating how a little girl would have any part in the Thief series.
While I don't think she will have any presence in the later games, it seems pretty obvious that the girl was going to be someone significant in the future.
After all, her scene is identical to when young Garret first attempted to pick-pocket Artemus, and was eventually (and temporarily) recruited into the Keepers.
It's just that, it doesn't seem likely that the main character would really change in a game like Thief. Sure, a side character, or a possible dual character in one point, but not the main..
Garrett is such a big success, I don't see why they'd trade him.
But, only time will tell. I just hope Thief 4 won't fail.

Interesting ending... It could hint a new protagonist in the next game, but then again there're still loose ends left behind by this one--especially considering what the Eye was talking to Garret in the closing chapters of the game.

I hated doing the Cradle quest when the Zombies got back up I was scared shitless every time... they don't like Fire arrows, Mines, Holy Water and Flash bombs thats what kills them...

It was sick mission :D when i heard knocking in the upstairs, i just standed, and thinked 5 mins what to do, holy crap ! and i turned off pc for few mins when i was lockpicking doors, then light just started to flash, but then it was too late ^^
This video was actually uploaded on my request so many years ago. Since then I've replayed all Thief games and am now installing Thief 2 to try the unofficial expansion with Zaya. Anything positive said about the series just won't be enough.
Actually I like both thief and Sc they both seem to have strengths over each other.
Ac had more freedom to explore move around, roam and kill in head on combat
Thief ds blows Ac and most other games in the stealth genre out of the water with the stealth system. I found myself assassinating more people in thief ds than in assassin creed.
The ending is one of the best I have ever seen in a game series. Thief is overall great but the fact that the developers kept true to its roots is amazing. I loved that they added the "It's no easy task to see a keeper, especially one who does not wish to be seen " and then the ironic smile on Garrett . The story comes in full circle with full closure, truly masterful.
Yeah, I had a good laugh at this ending. I wasn't expecting it at all, and to be honest I am a little disappointed there was no actual fight with the hag, but this was more than a good enough ending.

I agree it caught me off guard and I was very satisfied. As for not fighting - Thief isn't a fighting game, you didn't fight the antagonists in #1 or #2.
Maybe, if she is like a female version of Garrett. I have always liked his character and am sort of attached to it. I don't know if its possible to create his character as a female, his hardness is masculine.

When Garrett says "To see a keeper is not a easy thing, especially one that does not wish to be seen" it means he is a thief/keeper and doesn't want to been seen (Garrett hides in shadows) so that means the keeper at the start of Thief I who Garrett encounters is just like Garrett, a thief/keeper!
Thief 1+2 was made by Looking Glass Studios which closed soon after releasing thief 2 thanks to Eidos. Thief 3 was made by Ion Storm Austin which was also closed by Eidos.

There are little things that aren't goals that you probably havent completed before. Some things you might like to try is becoming allied with the pagans and hammerites. Then taking it to the docks to find that your fences friend has left money in his basket at the top of the stairs. im so saadd :\
I'm angry because I beat the game. I didn't want it to end. They should make another game. But, it's been around what, 5 years? I doubt they will make another one. The ending wasn't an ending that did not tie up all the loose ends. Heres some that they didn't tie up. What happened to all the other keepers? What about that little girl who can see Garret? Do the pagans and hammerites become friends? What was done with the keeper compound? Is there anymore danger in the near future? Oh so sad. ;(
Thief 3 was pretty good, almost as good as the first 2 but I have to say the cut scenes are really good and are in the spirit. The end is satisfying and leaves all loose ends tied up, its rare that a trilogy is ended so well.

thanks for posting this... i got all the way to the end and decided to save before i put in the Eye and the game froze in the middle of saving... and deleted my save. i was so pissed... all those hours i spent and i didnt even get to finish it.
I believe that will be a sequel. But from the last scene I think that we may have to play as the little girl after some years... or Garret in an older age...
I love this game, this ending scene was one of the best in the entire THIEF series, when the little kid tries to steal from Garret he says the exact same thing that a Keeper told him when he was a child, I just love it, now Game Shadow says that a 4th Thief is comming, i look forward for it (and hoping it´s better thad Deadly Shadows)
But now very important when in South Quarter the Eye tells why the others artifacts don't speak, he sais ''they are still so young, some of them can't even speak''.
The Eye on the other hand is centuries old.
So that's another reason why the Eye is the only one to speak.
1) The eye is the voice because it sais ''Do you miss your eye little man? I've seen many intresting things with it'' (when yo get The Eye in the museum)
And it sais ''We share flesh and blood thief''
wich means Garret's eye that The Eye uses.

2) The Eye doesn't want to be destroyed ''Do not do this you will destroy us all'' (destroy the glyphs)
the cinematic quality of the cut scenes were very very weak compared to thief 2. the thing i looked forward to most when finishing the level in the metal age were the cut scenes, but in deadly shadow they lacked so much atmosphere and mood.
As romantic as the Medieval period might seem, it is not something you would want to live in - rampant disease, primitive medical practices that might kill you as often as not, war and poverty, rampant discrimination - take it from a history major, the Medieval period is a great deal more enjoyable as a idea than it was as a way to live.
That said, I'll be rather displeased if they set the next Thief game in the modern world - perhaps if they use a slightly more modern "City", but eh ...
Jesus, no kidding. I'm surprised at the number of people who are like "I'd love to live back in medieval Europe", and I'm usually like "Hello, wasting disease!"
That said, Thief is my favorite video game series of all time. It's just so damn good.

Garret knows where to put the artifacts, because when he was in gamal's home, he saw the table with some figures instead of the artifacts, when he put them in the right order, they lit up, as if saying that it's the right combination.The artifacts are still a mystery to me...why did they speak to him? what did they mean?
As far as I remember only The Eye spoke to him. And it already did so in Dark Project. I think I read somewhere that the artifacts (or The Eye in any case) are somewhat alive and have a mind of their own. The Eye seems to have a somewhat sadistic "personality", which makes sense considering it belongs to the Trickster. As for the others, I don't know about their meaning. Seemed pretty random to me, made up just to fill the game in some way.

I agree it caught me off guard and I was very satisfied. As for not fighting - Thief isn't a fighting game, you didn't fight the antagonists in #1 or #2.
Maybe, if she is like a female version of Garrett. I have always liked his character and am sort of attached to it. I don't know if its possible to create his character as a female, his hardness is masculine.

When Garrett says "To see a keeper is not a easy thing, especially one that does not wish to be seen" it means he is a thief/keeper and doesn't want to been seen (Garrett hides in shadows) so that means the keeper at the start of Thief I who Garrett encounters is just like Garrett, a thief/keeper!

Thief 1+2 was made by Looking Glass Studios which closed soon after releasing thief 2 thanks to Eidos. Thief 3 was made by Ion Storm Austin which was also closed by Eidos.

Wow, Sorry about that comment. I meant, The ending DOESN'T sum everything up. But, to all the dissapointed people.. There are little things that aren't goals that you probably havent completed before. Some things you might like to try is becoming allied with the pagans and hammerites. You can do little tasks like sneaking into the tavern and cleaning up a dead body. Then taking it to the docks to find that your fences friend has left money in his basket at the top of the stairs. im so saadd :\

I'm angry because I beat the game. I didn't want it to end. They should make another game. But, it's been around what, 5 years? I doubt they will make another one. The ending wasn't an ending that did not tie up all the loose ends. Heres some that they didn't tie up. What happened to all the other keepers? What about that little girl who can see Garret? Do the pagans and hammerites become friends? What was done with the keeper compound? Is there anymore danger in the near future? Oh so sad. ;(

Thief 3 was pretty good, almost as good as the first 2 but I have to say the cut scenes are really good and are in the spirit. The end is satisfying and leaves all loose ends tied up, its rare that a trilogy is ended so well.

the ending is ok but i think he should be caught and then if they made a sequel you have to escape first level get all your items back and ok the dagger is more sneaker to kill but on theif 2 and dark project i loved the sword thanks for posting

thanks for posting this... i got all the way to the end and decided to save before i put in the Eye and the game froze in the middle of saving... and deleted my save. i was so pissed... all those hours i spent and i didnt even get to finish it.

I love this game, this ending scene was one of the best in the entire THIEF series, when the little kid tries to steal from Garret he says the exact same thing that a Keeper told him when he was a child, I just love it, now Game Shadow says that a 4th Thief is comming, i look forward for it (and hoping it´s better thad Deadly Shadows)

But now very important when in South Quarter the Eye tells why the others artifacts don't speak, he sais ''they are still so young, some of them can't even speak''.
The Eye on the other hand is centuries old.
So that's another reason why the Eye is the only one to speak.

1) The eye is the voice because it sais ''Do you miss your eye little man? I've seen many intresting things with it'' (when yo get The Eye in the museum)
And it sais ''We share flesh and blood thief''
wich means Garret's eye that The Eye uses.

there's been a game about every faction
Thief 1: Pagans (about the Trickster)
Thief 2: Mechanists (same as hammerites so the builder)
Thief 3: Keepers (Glyphs)
besides...in this game the keepers are gone, everything is solved so it's over

First of all I love the Thief series, gameplay- and storywise.
Thief III didn't live up to my expectations, but it's a great game and the ending too.
Why would anyone wish that the little girl should die? It's a homage to the beginning of Thief I you ignorants;-)
Also the trilogy made sense, because there were three factions from the beginning and every one got what they deserved.

the cinematic quality of the cut scenes were very very weak compared to thief 2. the thing i looked forward to most when finishing the level in the metal age were the cut scenes, but in deadly shadow they lacked so much atmosphere and mood.

As romantic as the Medieval period might seem, it is not something you would want to live in - rampant disease, primitive medical practices that might kill you as often as not, war and poverty, rampant discrimination - take it from a history major, the Medieval period is a great deal more enjoyable as a idea than it was as a way to live.
That said, I'll be rather displeased if they set the next Thief game in the modern world - perhaps if they use a slightly more modern "City", but eh ...

That said, Thief is my favorite video game series of all time. It's just so damn good.

Garret knows where to put the artifacts, because when he was in gamal's home, he saw the table with some figures instead of the artifacts, when he put them in the right order, they lit up, as if saying that it's the right combination.The artifacts are still a mystery to me...why did they speak to him? what did they mean?

As far as I remember only The Eye spoke to him. And it already did so in Dark Project. I think I read somewhere that the artifacts (or The Eye in any case) are somewhat alive and have a mind of their own. The Eye seems to have a somewhat sadistic "personality", which makes sense considering it belongs to the Trickster. As for the others, I don't know about their meaning. Seemed pretty random to me, made up just to fill the game in some way.
