  • it could actually be applied for musical exercises

  • Phoe Chit can dance, but Chan Tha can Sing and Dance.

  • Chan Thar can dance !!! He's the living legendof Burmese Dance Artist.

  • hmmm, seems like javanese n balinese dance, anyway, srivijaiya empire spread all over the southeastern asia, so, could not doubt the influence tooo, lol, just a raw guesss

  • this dance is great ever...love it...there is no dance like this in this world...

  • @kanchhikriti Of course , it is Burmese dance, there is no other Burma in the world, therefore no other Burmese dance like this in the World. As there is no other Balinese or Javanese dances in the world except in Bali and Java in Indonesia.

  • Can someone translate the monologue?

  • Comment removed

  • @sandhandsd It might be unpoetic in translating but he says, "one moment(one hour), I've never seen such a lovely face, what good karma did you get, I would like to know. one hour, it's unfleeting, that lovely face, where did u get it? Do you look like ur dad, is it why you're beautiful? is it because you look like your mom you're pretty I would like to know because my eyes are hooked. Even the goddesses from heaven are crying, and I have to cry, and can't behave in your presence.

  • It seems like Terunajaya dance of Java.Never seen dances from Myanmar before.Tis is first time I ever see one.

  • One of the Khmer kings, Jayavarman II lived in court of the Javanese Sailendra when he was a boy to get his education. Later the Khmer Empire had extended not only to include Cambodia but also Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar. I guess this will answer ur curiosity. The core of South East Asian culture is in fact Javanese culture.

  • Actually Terunajaya is from Bali. But either way, we don't have anything like this in Indonesia. Our dancers don't really lift their leg and hop around like that. I must say it's a very unique dance. Thank you for uploading!

  • This looks so much like Javenese dance. Don't you think? It is very nice. Too bad Burma is in a wreck right now. Could have been a Little Tiger.

  • I think it's more similar to Indian dances than to Javanese.

  • thanks for posting this, it really helped me for our united nations day performance

  • I love the meaning of this song!

  • for some reason this sacarees me. iono y but its cool ta listen too!

  • This is amazing. It would help if you could tell us more about this particular dance.

  • Amazing Burmese dance. You should more video for this dancing with name of dancer. I realy appreciate his dancing. It is read beautiful. I am worried that under the Burmese military regime, Burmese culture is facing difficult situation. The regime is not enouraging artists in Burma. Now China and Korea movies influrence Burmese.

  • Actually, The burmese military regime held "So Ka Yay Tee" every year. Most of the China and Korea Movies are better than Myanmar Movies.

  • The reason China and Korea movies are better is because "cinematography" has improved overtime and Burma simply lacked behind the whole artistic creativity and technology due to too many censorships, restrictions and lack of funding from Military regime. Just holding "So Ka Yay Tee" is not enough, government need to do more to improve the freedom of expression and funding for training on latest methods.

  • The reason Chinese and Korean movies are better is because "cinematography" has improved overtime and Burma has lacked behind due to too many restrictions, censorships and lack of funding from Military regime. Just holding "So Ka Yay Tee" is not enough, Burmese performers should be given freedom of expression and provide training on latest methods and technologies.

  • Chinese and Korean movies are not imposed in Burma---the Burmese people chose to watch them because they are better than Burmese movies. Burmese movie industry is yet to develop and also they are heavily monitored by the government. So there isn't much incentive/opportunities for being creative. Even if you say one word that offends the government propaganda, the movie get banned & actors arrested.

Same goes for traditional/cultural performance. Sing about love and banal stuff and you are safe.

  • Dear Ko Moe Thee,

The dancer is our most favourite Chan Tha, Son of Alingar Kyaw Swar.
