Several years after he gets ALS however, when Becker could no longer physically play he released Raspberry Jams (1999) and Blackberry Jams (2003), the first contained various unreleased demo-tracks and the latter contained demo-tracks and alternate versions of songs that were later reworked and published into other albums.

If you're talking about the best songwriting (SONG writing - songs that people love to sing to), none of the "regular" shredders apply. Guthrie still has to write more compositions to really make it into my top 5 (his Wonderful Slippery Thing is a thing of beauty though). Love Howe, just can't squeeze him into the top 5.
